    I'm an old school speedcuber and one inaccuracy is that Rubik's brand cubes have a near identical spring tension system in their core that can be adjusted in the same way. Loosening it to allow corner cutting was common. Filing down the spring ends and smoothing the screw threads were also common mods. I am amazed by all the new innovations! The "MagLev" spring was totally my idea like 20 years ago (and probably other people's too), but I never really had the resources to prototype it. This is the first I've heard of it! Besides the friction advantages, the force is now quadratic with distance instead of linear which I thought would have real advantages! Off to look into it more now...

    Nice video!
    I myself learned solving one of those with the LBL (Layer by Layer) technique around 15 years ago.
    you start out the same as here, but on the last layer, you start by making a yellow cross. Then, you bring the cross in the right position, so that only the edge pieces are random. You then bring the edge pieces in the right place and at the end, you just finish by orienting the edge pieces correctly. It is not the fastest method, but it only requires to learn 7 algorithms, so it is easier if you don't wanna learn a s**t ton of algorithms. Always good fun for impressing friends and also not too hard to learn.

    • @JaredOwen

    • @blooberry999
      @blooberry999 Рік тому +1

      this is a good method for beginners but if you want to be faster then you should work on knowing full oll and full pll aswell as advanced cross and f2l
      full pll is about 21 algorithms but they are all easy to remember
      full oll is 57 algorithms which makes it harder to learn out of the two
      a good way to learn these algorithms is by remembering patterns in the algorithms such as triggers or parts of other algorithms

    Research is clearly thorough, as a speed cuber I enjoy the little additions here and there of intricate details, it really brings the video together. Already buy from SCS so no need to worry, seeing how the corner piece was modelled and how on the face of the piece it was fully square and not rounded, which helps to not let the corer twist, can't even begin to imagine how you model those details let alone an the opera house, would love to see a part 2 covering some other things like core magnets, piece patterns and some other cool systems but if not that was still a great video. Another terrific video, Jared! Rubics Cube was integral in my childhood and the 80s as a decade. My fav were the mini cubes on keychains for some reason. Keep on, keeping on, Jared!!!
