I use a square piece of yoga mat to stop the slide on the ground and some yoga mat across the car.

I have a better, easier way..
But this works.
Put a bar in-between both front and back bars this can be either permanent or not , stand yak up against this bar (90* to car ) no need for a towel , slide yak up and turn it length ways down car and adjust as needed.
