Of all the "It Gets Better" videos I've seen, yours is the most sincere, heart-felt one by far. I could feel the pain you went through as you recounted your high school experience. It brought back some rather unpleasant memories of my own. You come across as an honest and caring person! Somebody is going to be very fortunate to have you as his parrtner. Thanks for posting.

What a wonderful testimony. I cried with you and I cried about the pain I dealt with in middle and high school. Living in the south, there have been times that I still deal with the hate, but Wow, it has gotten so much better. There were times when I was younger that I didn't think I could take it anymore and now I am so glad I stuck it out. Thanks again for this inspiring video.

Thank you for staying so strong throughout your life. Beyond that, Thank You for trying to help other people. When I look at the world, it is hard to see anything but Hate. It is very reassuring to see people who want to be there to support others and care as much as you do. I barley know you at all but I can tell you are a very outgoing and loving person. I have been out since 2004 and there really aren't to many people who get it like you do. Thanks again!

Absolutely awesome! Your caring and sensitivity shine through this video - as well as your strength! It's such a tragedy that any kid - gay, disabled, geeky, or whatever - has to go through what you went through. But you have come through it a whole and wonderful person...someone who will go so much further in life than any of those less fortunate kids who gave you such grief - and they are less fortunate. You're the true winner here!

I have grown up with many hardships, & I can tell folks that, how we perceive ourselves & our situations makes all the difference. Some people who have been through bad things in life fail to overcome them, because they identify themselves solely through what has happened to them. Those who overcome such events typically redefine themselves, so as to not let these events define them. This change in perspective allows them to let go of the anger, hate, etc, eating them up inside.

I am so sorry about all the pain you encountered. Thank you for sharing your story and your message. It does get better but I wish it was better now. I wish it was better for all the kids still in school today. I wish that people cared more and hated less. The damage that is done sticks with us. Yes it gets better but it shouldn't have to be bad for anyone. Sorry I am venting. You are a strong person just like so many of us that make it through it. I just wish it was better now for everyone.

Dude you are pretty AH-MAZING! ! ! I was picked on all of my middle school and I hated it. Once I went to high school, I told myself that what happened in middle school was not going to happen in high school and it didn't. No one knew about me until after I graduated. I have only told a few and they totally accept me for who I am and I am just thankful for that. If anyone ever needs someone to talk to, you can talk to me because I dislike bullying and I know how it feels to be bullied.

Now that im in college, i don't see them, and now i love being me. Im trying to get my life together . Ughh its so liberating ! This video made me cry bc its brought back memories. Vids like yours are a great service, as they serve to educate bullies as to the impact of their actions, they educate those who are bullied that, if you got through it, so can they. Most importantly, your vid shows kids who may be being bullied today is that, they are not alone, that there is a possibility for a brighter future, & that there are some options, like changing schools, home schooling, etc. Keep up the great work.

You've impressed me a great deal with your courage and with your ability to endure what your tormentors threw at you. You're a survivor, and I hope you help others to survive. I, too, was bullied at school. I'm not gay, but I was bullied by a certain cowardly gang. Fortunately, I was able to take care of myself physically. I dealt with the ringleader and the other "heroes" just melted away. Not every kid is so fortunate, I know. It makes me very angry when I hear of kids being bullied, no matter what the reason.

I never cry at any video really, but this brought a hard truth back to me, that yeah I am scared, scared of a lot of things, scared of people, especially when I know I haven't got one friend I can turn to for advice or help. In the Uk we go through 6 years of high school and for those 6 years I was basically a loner, I didn't last into my last year I was forced out by bullies and the hatred of my so called friends, videos like this make me realize I am not alone even when I feel like crap

Hey man - thanks for sharing... my feelings are mixed because it's a true shame that this crisis has gotten to the point where people have to do this to provide support for pure ignorance and stupidity (those that are doing the bullying) but that shame, I feel, is well over shadowed by the meer fact that so many people are willing to come forward and share their stories with one simple hope - that his/her story helps one person make it one more day... Thanks again!

I'm not saying people who do bad things shouldn't be held responsible, I'm simply saying becoming a survivor vs being a victim is to stop focusing on the fast, so you can work on the here & now to begin achieving future goals. There are two definitions of forgive, the 1st is to remove responsibility from someone for some action, which is why many people struggle with letting go. The other is to no longer identify yourself with the hurt, anger, & pain, of an event, so you can move on.

The question that we should all be asking is: "Why are kids being bullied in high school?" How is that acceptable? There should be zero tolerance for homophobia in school. Rather than asking gay kids to "hang on...it gets better", we should be making high school a safe place.

Hello, Tyler - good on you. You're a brave, brave lad. High school/secondary school is such a hard time because there's so much peer pressure during those years and I'm so glad you ended up somewhere where you could be happy. I'm not gay, but I was teased at my school for how I looked and for my interests, both by kids my age and sometimes by younger kids because I was often alone, so I can relate. By the time I was sixteen I learnt to ignore them and things just picked up from there. Well done.

Very moving Video. Thank You for sharing your story. I to know it gets better. I never had it hard like most people, but I know how hard it is to just be yourself. Keep doing what you do.
    Much Brother Love,
