I have been playing poker since I was 21 and have contemplated perhaps trying to go pro a few times but it isn't as glamorous as people imagine. It is extremely stressful and hard work that also creates a lot of problems in people's lives. From bankroll management issues to ignoring relationships and playing entirely too much day and night which messed up my sleep schedule. One of the biggest issues is being your own boss - you have a lot of freedom to say "I don't feel like working today" or just start spending your bankroll in ways you shouldn't since often times the bankroll is also the liferoll.
Start a real business that you love and play for fun. The days of all the glamorous pros does not exist anymore at this time. The US made sure of it when they hit us with black Friday and all the endorsements and games went into the gutter. The day online poker is back all across the US/World is when the glory days will return.
So true man. I started playing around 19 or 20 and started making a little money off it. Was actually for a time supporting myself for half a year or so then I just stopped winning man I don't know. I think I kind on lost interest in it so I stopped focusing as much but every thing you said relationships, stress is so damn true. If there is anything I've learned from poker or gambling in general is to value the relationships you have in your life over anything
As a Chinese I find Rui's accent quite fascinating, his accent is like 10% of French and 90% of Chinese, but I digress. And shout out to this host, he seems to be very nice and professional, not like some other shitty hosts that hold some ground against the guests, try to give the guests a hard time to feel good about themselves.
Always been one of my favorites, great interview as always. One thing I'd be more interested to hear is his approach to poker in terms of playing style. He seems to be more of a "feel" player, constantly putting opponents in the sickest spots and making crazy calls. Maybe that's why he does so well live?
He says about being bad at other things but he could easily start his own business even if its just a takeaway or restaurant or micro pub, hes smart enough to do many things!
Hiya Lee, just to say , I love your interviews , you really are down to earth, and have a great relaxing, interview technique. What part of Wales are you from, Lee. I'm from Barry island. Thank you for videos. Kevin.

The interviewer is amazing. He actually brings a lot of value himself.
