What is Postcolonialism:
Since I claim to be a postcolonialism scholar, I think it is apt to include a brief description of my field of study. In my view, Postcolonialism ( also written as Post Colonialism or Post-Colonialism) is a dynamic field of literary study that focuses on the history of colonialism and native responses to the colonial policies and life after colonialism formally ends. The field of postcolonialism also offers insights into the literature and culture of the the former European colonies and their struggles after the end of colonialism.

I am Robin Choudhary, Research Scholar from Panjab University,India.
Your talk is truly right for Indian Universities.There are departments from many university having only 2 or just one faculty member but producing more and more PhD.The last recruitment of assistant professor in many of the department was in 2007.Departments are managing with guest faculties and research Scholar who are being paid very very less. The PhD holder from reputed university are engaged in class four jobs having no relations with acadmics. It is very harsh reality making captilization of education.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Yes, I think the conditions on Pakistan are also similar and, as I said, pretty bad in the US as well. I encourage my students to also develop some additional skills so that they can also apply to non academic jobs.

That's why we can see these low paid PhDs suggesting PhD aspirats to start a business if they have investment because its better to invest 4 to 5 years into business rather than spending 5 years in doing phD and at the end of the day day doing odd jobs to meet the needs. I got this advice too.

I felt there wasn’t enough guidance or mentor ship at our English departments specifically at my City University when it came to bridging the gap between students to jobs.

Yes, that seems to be the case at most universities. I think letting our students know what they are up against is important.
