Thank you so much for this guide I'm so excited to fix mine after 2-3 years 😆✌🏼
Woow. So it's just a optic cable problem? Amazing you solved a problem than I have since 2 year with my 1080 ti
a big thank you! the heat from the gpu does indeed affect the fiber optic cable. lifespan about a year max. then it gets milky. Now I have a solution for my front mounted GTX 1070 in the antec striker case, so thank you sir
Fantastic. Just ordered more cable to fix my card. You sir are a life saver.
I ordered this 'fiber optic cable' off Aliexpress and it came in EXACTLY that packaging. Exact same print on it.

You saved me a new gpu upgrade.
Thank you very much.
Ordered on Amazon. 1m.
Thanks for this tut, just fixed my old 1070 today this way. Looks like new now. Easy fix.
@@kian4077 hey, do you mean by software? to change colors, or to change the silicon bars as suggested in this video? (btw, by now I've changed the 1070 to a 3080,...same as the old one, Strix from Asus)
Thank you for the video, just bought a used 2080 Super and it had the same issue, tried the fix, looks like new.
Much appreciated.. baught one of these recently for wife/kids sff build.. cost me 12.99 canadian on amazon for 1 meter of 4mm fiber optics.. took me less than 20 mins and half that was struggling with getting it back onto the riser cable in a sff build.
Ontop of that the i baught the gpu 2nd hand and the description stated this issue and i used it to negotiate a lower price 😆 .
Just got a used 1070 with this issue. Thanks for sharing this.
what a great video! i have just done mine and a £4 fix is absolutely great. Got this 1080ti second hand for a bargain.
Thanks for the upload, my RX480 with the same cooler has this issue and I was confused.
Thanks man, just got 3 meters of it for $20 on Amazon🤙🏼 appreciate you makin the video, I was pretty upset my expensive card looked so ugly
What is the diameter of this fiber cable? Can you help me? I search on the amazon shop, but i find only small diameter.... Thx
I thought I was at a loss until I seen this video thank you so much!
Thank you. I had this problem a very long time and finaly i got the answer.
Thx you very much, I have exactly the same Problem, great Video, greetings from Thorsten
Awesome video. I had been trying to fix this in software. Glad I found this fix.
OK, I can say for sure it works on every THREE FAN card in the Asus ROG Strix range, from the 1070 to the 2080ti. I will list them:
1060-6G, 1060-O6G, 1070, 1070oc, 1070-ti, 1080, 1080oc, 1080-ti, 2060, 2060oc, 2060 Super. Any of the 2070's and 2070 super cards, and any of the 2080's. 2080 super cards and the 2080-ti cards, including the white editions.
The new 3060-ti, 3070, 3080, and 3090's I have no idea about. They have RGB all over the place and I've no idea what kind of lighting system they have under the hood.
EDIT: ANYTHING before the 10 series Three fan cards DO NOT have the RGB lighting, I looked at the 980-ti (the flagship before the 10 series was released, and nope, it's a completely different style of card.
The cards I have listed at the top are all in EXACTLY the same type of case. I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a 3-Fan 1060-6GB from a 2080-ti 11GB unless it said so on the card! Be careful if you are buying seconds hand, as it DOESN'T take a tech savvy person to swap the cases between a 1080 and a 1080-ti, and the "normie" user would probably never notice for some time (if ever) since they don't benchmark or use other tools which tell then the GPU they are actually using - even then they may miss the fact that it doesn't say "ti" after the 1080. They will just see it as a HUGE leap in performance from their 780 or whatever they were using before that. There are certainly some scumbags out there who will do anything to screw you over. If buying second-hand on Ebay ask them for a Userbenchmark score for their system, it will tell you what card it is testing, how well it is pergorming compared to other cards of that particular type, as well an article about whether that card was considered decent at the time of release, let alone 2 or 3 years later.
I'm still very hapy with my 1070 until the 3060-ti comes down to the price it is MEANT to be in stores. I don't need a 3070 or 3080 for 1080p and 1440p gaming, and am not interested in 4k. I'd rather spend the extra on a 120hz or 144hz monitor to upgrade my grappy acer 60hz with nothing more recent than a DVI socket on it.
No point in playing a game at 180 FPS if your screen only refreshes 60 times per second, capping you at 60 FPS anyway.
Thank, this also works on the 20 gen rtx strix card
Good info replaced mine cost a little more from amazon....Also replaced my thermal paste that to my shock did not cover the gpu ( Strix 1080ti)
Ordered this stuff a looong time ago. Probably gonna do this to my card when I sell it next month so the person after me still has a decently looking card.
Thx bro 👍 GTX 1070 strix what size 4 mm ?
I would've bought some ATXC-PSU extensions first. Thanks for this video instruction. very hepful.
many thanks MR marshall for your video i know how to fix my lighting on my card now cheers mate👍 just ordering my cable
@@mrmarshall2673thank you for your video job work like a treat my card is back to it's colorful self and cost me 6 pounds from amazon
Nice one! I had initial blamed a driver update.
I was so afraid id have to throw mine out thank you!!!
Just figured it out after almost 5 years... I thought it was normal that my GPU did not fully light up... that's so sad. Not planning on fixing this, as I'm looking forward to upgrading soon though.
link don't work anymore, can someone please put another link, Aliexpress preferred thank you
what is the rgb cable called
Thank you so much for the video, but for the love of God that camera will not focus!

bro, how about this, the rgb on the backplate rog gtx 1070 is not the same as in the fan and in the writing, if the fan and the rog writing is purple, but the backplate is red, can you give the tutorial please ...
Thank you for this, mine is good as new (minus a slightly stripped screw)!
Thank you, thank you, and again, thank you! :D
Thank you man!
legend, thanks!
Thank you so much bro!
Thanks a lot!!
Hello, is gigabyte AORUS GTX 1070 extreme same pmma optic fiber size? And what is the size?
dude you're a star :) just work on this focus :)
Thnx ♥
I done this and some of the colour dont work it works if you do a static colour but like breathing affects it do do
thanks for the content!!!! it helped me a lot with mine but i’m curious on how you made your rgb on your card two different colors?
You have to do it with the rgb software that the brand has for example rog or any asus product its aura sync
Thanks!
Hi cant i use 3mm thing? because 4mm cost in my country 30 euro and 3mm cost only 8 eur pls reply
thank you
its flashing blinking red for me but the graffikscard is still working
Thanks, I bought a 1070ti used and that was super easy.
Amazon had it here next day, it cost 12$ cad for 3 feet.
Question... whats the right side white debug led for? I have an rm850x and custom corsair cable made for the psu. All connections are good, but the white led is always on.
That's right, it's a white debug LED which just indicates that the GPU is powered. I have a strix GTX 1060 and have the same thing.
do you think adding heat tape over the fiber optics would help prevent this from happening again?
Maybe over the top yeah but you’ll need to leave room for light to pass through
So now I noticed one strip is a different hue/colour than that other? Amy ideas?
wow, Thank u
do you know if where i can buy that thing " Republic of Gamers " logo name in front, It is a sticker? because mine was lost.
I have gtx1060 6g strix and armoury crate can't recognize it. please help
the rgb logo on the blackplate is not syncing and some colors aren't available, how to fix this?
I'm not sure on the back plate but I know mine stays one colour so not sure if its ment to be like that
i cant find a 4mm strip cable only 3mm. i lived in japan.
have you tried just polishing it ? ill try with mine ill let you know
Are there 4mm?
i bought a 1080 ti second hand recently , the leds are flashing orange like a heartbeat, any idea what the problem could be ? i also couldnt find the gpu in the armoury crate software.
i have asus rog strix gtx 1070 (ti) and can i do this?
Would it also work if I just remove the fiberoptic stuff?
ok so i have the new cable now but what do i use to cut it
Whats the name of that string?
I guess I'm not having this problem but my strix 1070 is stuck on one color. The armoury crate software isn't changing the color. Tried unplugging the RGB power cable and reputting it in but nothing. Not sure why the color is stuck for me. Kinda sucks. It's stuck on yellow of all colors haha
Where can i buy that one sir? I have a same issue
Thank you man , led cmm ? and 4 mm
I replace the two fiber optics but one of them looks red when i put the rgb lights in white, somebody know why?
What screwdriver do you need for this?
i was following the tutorial but when i opened my gpu i noticed that the led board missing so even if i did replace the cable it wont light up. do you know where i can get my hands on a replacement led board???
how to repair the led on top ? the eye at backplate?
Anyone have a fix for the bottom LED doesn't match with the top part back plate LED ? not the same color anymore on my Strix 1080 ti the same thing happen to my Strix 1070
Should 3mm fit?
Whats the cable size for . This .1070ti. 1.5 mm or 4mm ?
This item doesn't post to Sweden.. That sucks...
Does it have a driver for rgb control, because I searched and couldn't find one for this video card series ?
Can you claim a warranty for that?
Hey great vid! Though i do have another problem with my 1070, its the same graphics card as yours but i am unable to change the rgb colors on the graphics card itself. I have been trying to change it on the armory crate app and on icue but it didn´t get detected on neither of those. The rgb on my graphics card right now is static red. Help would be so appreciated!
its because your motherboard doesnt support armoury crate, so it cant detect the gpu
what is the name of the cable you use
Create a video regarding how to replace.
Just skipps the how to part
If you have a working light anywhere on the gpu the led is working the fiber optic cable that spreads the light is most likely just crimped. But I'm not unmounted my gpu for that😂
My RX 480 has the same issue, I’ll have to do this.
alguien sabe donde encontrarlas o medida en mexico ( amazon mercadolibre o algo asi)
Can someone send me the actual Link too this pls
how to change the color my use to be red now is purple, I want the red back
@@KeyyBond No, but I downloaded a third party application (Aura) and I did change it back to red.
Where can i order?
Anyone have issues with not being able to control the RGB at all.. Asus Armoury Crate doesn't even detect the GPU RGB
id dont post to the netherlands have somebody a other link
BRO, HOW TO CHANGE RGB COLOR? D:
Mine started to look like that quite recently and I was sad because it doesn't look as nice as it used to. Now I am pretty excited I can bring the life back to the leds! Thanks for the help!!!
Yeah same, I've had my 2 cards for 2-3 years and I had saved few years for them and I was so sad in first month for the leds shitting around but now I'm so glad it can fixed ez, yay :D
