    I did this kind of model making when I was younger but got too busy when I had kids. I’m looking forward to getting back into the hobby now that they are leaving the nest as it were. Thanks for the video and detailed information.

    This video is 'just the job', because I just got Absolute Emporer rules from Osprey and warlord starter sets for £56 each...so while I wait for them to arrive I will acquire the paints from your video. You certainly 'know your onions!' Cheers!

      That's great. Have fun painting! I have done a series on putting together and painting the Perry late French line as well which has a slightly different approach for painting if you want to mix things up.

    Great video,very helpful and had not heard of the Quickshade medium so thanks for that tip.I notice you use Kolinsky sable brushes,I have recently bought a couple ,they seem very good.Cheers

      The medium makes such a difference to the washes - far less pooling and better flow into the recesses. The Kolinsky sable brushes are much better at keeping a point than the artificial fibre brushes so a great thing to have.

      Culloden Painting Studio I have just ordered some of the wash through my local model shop which is opening a week on Monday ,and a couple more brushes via internet.Have noticed already how much better the brushes are.

    I've just recently gotten into Napoleonic models (Warlord Game's super cheap Waterloo set is to thank for that), and this has been really helpful for me with painting my French, thanks a lot.

    I would expect the same thing, but with shades of brown, would aplly for those tan greatcoats? if not, could you make a video on that?

    • @CullodenPaintingStudio
      @CullodenPaintingStudio  2 роки тому

      Hello. You could use brown instead of grey in the same fashion. There's a video in this series which talks about French flank companies where you can see some voltigeurs in brown coats.

    What do you use as the flagpole and bases?

    • @CullodenPaintingStudio
      @CullodenPaintingStudio  4 роки тому +2

      Bases are 20mm MDF squares and a movement tray from www.warbases.co.uk. For flagpoles I often use 1mm brass rod.

    What type of paint brushes do you use?

    • @CullodenPaintingStudio
      @CullodenPaintingStudio  4 роки тому

      The drybrushing was done with some cheap synthetic make up brushes, and the detail work with sable brushes. I was using some generic "Kolinsky Sable" brushes but have recently started with Raphael series 8404.

    Do you thin metallic paints?

    • @CullodenPaintingStudio
      @CullodenPaintingStudio  8 місяців тому +1

      I don't usually thin them. Most are good to use straight from the bottle.
