One in a million ;
in every part of their duet !!!❤❤
this song written by Guy Clark and Shawn Camp bring me to my knees, and John and Emmy doing it is epic
Always brings tears...so profoundly beautiful in so many ways..
One of the most beautiful duets I ever heard!
Two of the very, very best! Together? Almost too much beauty. Singing Guy Clark? Yeah, I'm on the floor.
Years of outstanding music, both of them. John is missed.
John finally broke the speed of the sound of loneliness. RIP.
This song is so beautiful , just stops me anywhere.
i got to hear emmylou sing her dream at the alabama theater in birmingham way back in the 70's. she told the story of being young and dreaming of singing on that stage. love the songs.
If I can't dance with you, then I won't dance at all, I'll just sit this one out, with my back to the wall... Blows me away!!!
RIP John Prine. Long live Emmylou. Just beautiful.
Two o f my fave's making beautiful harmony, can't ever be taken for granted. God bless.
The late, great, John Prine and oh boy with Emmylou's harmony a classic tribute to Guy Clarke. ...The song and music lives forever!
What a beautiful pairing. Two great artists singing Guy's best song
Listening to song a lot ...to ease the suffering we r all going through.
This is one of my favorites.
Love this song. What took me so long to realize Emmylou's talent? She's a Godsend to our generation! And so beautiful!
Jack Thorne I bear that same lament. I was a child of the 60's and 70's and was more consumed by a love of baseball and old movies. Felt more at home in 1939, the golden year of Hollywood, and was exulting with the '69 Miracle Mets rather than the flower children of Woodstock. Enjoyed rock and roll and the songs of the times via the car radio and greatest hits albums.
Saw my first concert at 17. My parents let me go with my older sister to a concert at her college. It was the Allman brothers; we were up in the cheap seats, and all I remember was my first nauseating whiff of weed and a bongo solo that never seemed to end. The "concert culture" was just not for me. Sadly, that mindset probably caused me to not pay attention when Linda Ronstadt (and probably Emmylou Harris at some point as well!)played at the same college two years later. Although, not the same as one cannot recapture "a brief moment in time," via these live performances on UA-cam, I am now enjoying and discovering the music and artists of my youth.
Mr. Prine is now singing with the other angels from Montgomery and everywhere else, but when this virus intruder is wrestled to the ground, I'm going to try to see any of the oldtimers, still strumming and serenading, that come my way. In my car, right now is a two-set CD of a 1999 CA live performance of Emmylou and Linda promoting their Western Wall album. Trying to make up for lost time!
(Btw, if you haven't already,, UA-cam Ms. Harris and Mr. Prine singing his funny "In Spite of Ourselves.")
IMO Emmy Lou has the most beautiful voice in the world. I love Red Dirt Girl, Her version of Sweet Ole World with Neil Young and especially Boulder to Birmingham. Also a little obscure number with Willie Nelson called Gulf Coast Highway.
@@johnhenry4652 Thank you for taking the time to share your recommendations. Just listened to "Sweet Old World" for the very first time. It was quite beautiful and touching. Will listen to Lucinda Williams' version, too. Thanks again.
Gorgeous. The two of them are divine.
There will never be another like John prine
First time listening to this and I am in tears. Beautiful and so profoundly moving.
This song makes me realize that I need to tell everyone important to me how much I love them!
Oh the years they shared some of the best songs on stage together.... 2 greats
Beautiful song, two beautiful people.
Thanksgiving day thinking about John and appreciating Emmylou ✌✌🦃🇺🇸🇺🇸🎶🎵
John had the class. He knew the lyrics!
Love these two.....great song!
Yes, yes, indeedy, God bless

Through a loss of an American Treasure..Thanks for the great post and Thank You Mr Prine for a Lifetime of Good Memories...ol couple way down in TX...JD
Love this song!!!.
Absolutely beautiful. R*I*P John
Lived here all my life these fine artist played local places on regular basis saw them in grocy store, out eating lunch maybe we forget how lucky we were before Nashville lost it's integrity and all this progress bullshit ,these people call themselves country or whatever . There will never have the class as artist as Emy Lou,Guy Clark Townes Van Sandt, John Price ,how lucky I am and those of my generation
Can't remember how many times I got to buy John P a drink at the Bluebird in the old days and just talk.
"before Nashville lost it's integrity and all this progress bullshit ,these people call themselves country". Mark, that could not have been said any better. Be well. Roger
Absolutely beautiful!
Good Morning ,I must be getting old ,and sadly I just finely discovered MR Prine But I love Him ,I new about Emmylou ,and alway's love her music ,together there Magical thank you
Think of HOW LUCKY YOU ARE!!! You now have HOURS AND HOURS OF INCREDIBLE Music ahead of you! Honest.
The lyrics are profound.
Beautiful!
Two of my favorites love the music
I love Emmylou Harris's &John prine magnolia wind
truly remarkable guy and the magic Emmylou
R.i.p. John, great talent.
If i can't dance with you i wont dance at all , That's a great line , thank you john and Emmylou
I'd rather sleep in a box like a bum on the street
Than a fine feather bed without your little ol' cold feet
I'd rather be deaf, dumb, and stone blind
Than to know that your mornings will never be mine
I'd rather die young than to live without you
I'd rather go hungry than eat lonesome stew
It's once in a lifetime and it won't come again
It's here and it's gone on a magnolia wind
I'd rather not walk through the garden again
If I can't catch your scent on a magnolia wind
If it ever comes time that it comes time to go
Sis just pack up your fiddle Sis pack up your bow
If I can't dance with you then I won't dance at all
I'll just sit this one out with my back to the wall
I'd rather not hear pretty music again
If I can't hear your fiddle on a magnolia wind
If I can't catch your scent on a magnolia wind
I love this song by its author Shawn Camp its very special BUT always always always Emmylou adds stardust
Emmylou Harris neben Lynda Ronstat meine Absoluten lieblings Sängerinnen unserer Generation
RIP John. You are missed.
Yup! Just gorgeous...both if them would make anyone sound and look better;)
Hi All. This song is written by Guy Clark (and Shaun Camp) who passed away in 2016.
sehr schön eine schöne Erinnerung an John
ELH ......a voice of Velvet...... Amazing....
I listen to this so often now.
Love John Prime and Emmylou singing Magnolia beautiful love song
RIP John
Love ❤️ emey lue best song
The video is John and Emmylou singing "In Spite Of Ourselves" at Red Rocks.
I was wondering where the rest of the band was. There is at least a violin and a mandolin somewhere so you have answered my puzzlement. Beautiful song sung by beautiful people.
yeah somebody took the In spite of ourselves when she was singing along to the line because she wasn't familiar with the song and then they spliced in this thing instead... that's why it's not syncing up
Love. RIP😞
Can I cry to the memory?
Love this Song
Best love song ever!
John Prine. RIP old mate
einfach sehr schön
The music was, of course, absolutely beautiful, so very special xx I couldn't help noticing that the video doesn't fit the music though!???? really weird one lol!?
Legends
I'm not seeing correlation between the video and the audio... this looks to be an overdubbing of an audio recording onto the video. Great Guy Clark tune, terrific recording, nice to see John and Emmy Lou together, even if this isn't really a live recording
wow just great
Love you Emylou.
哎。。。太好听了
Nice song by two great singers. LorraineG.
Actually written by Shawn Camp. Shawn enlisted Guy to help him finish the lyrics.
Lyrics:তোমাকে ছাড়া বাঁচার চেয়ে
আমি অল্প বয়সেই মরে যেতে চাই........
I'd rather sleep in a box like a bum on the street
Than a fine feather bed without your little ol' cold feet
And I'd rather be deaf, dumb, and stone blind
Than to know that your mornings will never be mine
And I'd rather die young than to live without you
I'd rather go hungry than eat lonesome stew
You know it's once in a lifetime and it won't come again
It's here and it's gone on a magnolia wind
I'd rather not walk through the garden again
If I can't catch your scent on a magnolia wind
Well, if it ever comes time that it comes time to go
Sis' pack up your fiddle, Sis' pack up your bow
If I can't dance with you then I won't dance at all
I'll just sit this one out with my back to the wall
I'd rather not hear pretty music again
If I can't hear your fiddle on a magnolia wind
If I can't catch your scent on a magnolia wind
It looks like the video was shot from someone in the audience, perhaps on a cell phone. Of course the sound would be inferior, so the audio is from a different recording.
the duet they sang on the guy clark tribute album... this one's for him ... if you don't have it ... get it ... you won't be disappointed
btw, who's the idiot that stopped by.... probably someone who has never experienced love
faithful827 you are so correct. those 2 cds are some of the best music ever!!!!
💙💙💙💙💙💙💨
Hey Stevie...I got one....I'm comin' over
Isn't this video JP and ELH performing "In Spite of Ourselves"?
Marvelous song; but they're obviously not singing it in this video.
You're right ..is she reading off lyrics...where's the accordion player and violin..there's another version when they were younger..that's what we're hearing.
7
good but why?
Is she reading the lyrics?
Yes wrong audio for the video...Nice nevertheless.
Ok, so where's the mandolin and accordion players hiding?
Can someone tell me what venue/city this is in?
Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. One of the best places to see a concert anywhere.
Wouldn't have thought she needed to read the words...
That's because the video was originally ' In Spite of Ourselves' but has been dubbed with Magnolia Wind. Of course Emmylou would know the words to that song......
@@annbrown2978 Great song and performance but bit silly putting it with wrong film
Too bad the video doesn't match the song........
not sure what video this is but it ain't .........Magnolia Wind. hahahaha
What he mean is, the video doesn’t match the audio. For example, the song has mandolin and there’s no mandolin in the video.
Who knows who the man is playing the guitar?
The ripe asparagus continuously tickle because botany disturbingly melt about a sloppy digital. tremendous, homeless married
This is a bogus video!,
Surely she could have taken the trouble to learn the lyrics? Amateur performers get slagged off for this.
He is with his buddy Steve Godman now and what wonderful music they are making . The angels are in for some great entertainment. Oh, John we will always miss you.
