Fantastic review Greg. Last year was on a Zoom call with Richard Patterson as we went through the Dalmore range. He was interested in what everyone had to say and reeled off story after story about his tales in the Whisky world. For me, the Cigar Malt was the winner followed closely by the 12.
Your review of this release is the best articulation of nose and taste I found online! I’ve been a serious cigar nerd collector for a few decades now and all the while Scotch has been my drink of choice, especially for pairing. I’ve not been a huge fan of Dalmore, tho I am of RP, mainly bec I’m more of an artisanal purist. I was also reluctant to buy this for many years bec I avoid most marketing claims...BUT I was being a total snob fool! I find alot of stewed prune and think the dryness u found shows the huge Oloroso component that makes this both a “sherry bomb” and a uniquely less sweet variant than that wld ever evoke to me. And I haven’t even lit the cigar yet! So glad I gave it the full taste before pairing - I may even wait until tmrw!
