The case against English in Bangladesh is a cultural and social calamity. Top Bangladeshi intellectuals deplore the use of English as an invasion of a foreign language. I remember English billboards being vandalized by former government-backed chauvinistic thugs. There is still a nationwide demand for Bangla at all levels of education and official communications to the extent that Bangla newspapers adamantly use the newly invented Bangla for mobile phones. Spoken English is ridiculed and mocked in the country because Bangladeshi people often hate to move out of their comfort zones. They are vehemently against India but won't recognize that Indians are there because of their unparalleled ability to speak English worldwide. You must love the language; perseverance is another key, and you must be willing to learn from mistakes and ignorance following the native speakers.
