BS6 diesel engines has DPF (diesel particulate Filter) which collects soot and prevent it from being released into atmosphere. DPF filter has self cleaning mechanism (also known as regeneration) it burns the collected soot using high temperature (from exhaust) keeping filter from clogging and temperature that is need to burn this is around 600°c which is not achieved at idling speeds. So if a BS6 engine is kept on for too long at idle the DPF will clog and car will not start. The only way to then is to clean the filter by taking it to workshop where they then either replace it or clean it (if possible). Hope this explains.

In all particularly Turbo diesel bs3-bs4 or bs6) with or without DPF filter will choke the cat con or DPF filters with sooth. This thing happens in vehicle which predominantly operates always under bumper to bumper traffic unable to even attain even 2000rpm . So similarly excessive running the engine under idle rpm will cause the DPf filters to clogg. However it's different scenario. Keeping engine under idle for 20-30min Or even an Hour will not harm much. Soon you continue to ride more than 80-100kmph for few minutes will clear off the sooth. It's always advisable to run the diesel engine in higher engine speed for atleast 10-15min often( this for people who lives and ride within city limits). Idling for such a long time is not recommended in modern engines with electronic fuel injection.
