This song hits so much harder when you aren't 12 on the last day of summer camp and you are 52 and you've just helped lay a friend to rest.
February 1 two years ago my son went to be with our Lord. How happy am I that when when he was young he accepted Jesus as his Savior. The Lord will give him a perfect body at the rapture. Now Jesus welcomed his soul onto heaven. This song is special and even tho it makes me cry, I know the Lord is Lord of all and it reminds me that John is in heaven with his Dad waiting for us.
I couldn't even get through the first line of this song without breaking down in tears. In October of last year, 2 of my dearest friends just turned away from me. They gave no warning or explanation. To say it was unexpected is putting it mildly. About 5 or 6 weeks before that, I was diagnosed with stage 2 ovarian cancer. My friends are the only support system I have. The only family I have is a son and daughter in law in Utah. I live in Louisiana. My doctor stopped my chemo in January after I developed bad side effects. Then the virus hit. I see the oncologist in New Orleans in 3 weeks to see how bad it has spread.

I am praying for you also. I also broke down in tears listening to the beautiful song. I was fresh from attending a visitation just before the funeral of a long time church member. He was 100 and 6 months old. A wonderful man who lived his live to the fullest

This song is a song that was sung every Sunday at church in Navy Boot Camp. It was sung when a company graduated. They would bring the companies up that were leaving and they would sing and cry and hug. I remember when my company K010 graduated in January 1991. What a time what great memories.

My 2 friends and I were close Christian friends. One went home in 1992. The other 5 years later. We all believed that later in life we would sit around talking about anything. It's just me now. I know that their home. It's hard. My oldest daughter suddenly passed away at the age of 21 in 2015. She was so special (this is not a dad bragging about his angel). Mom, LilaRuth and dad would be out anywhere. Many, many times strangers were drawn to her. We would turn and 3 people were making funny faces at her and she would smile the biggest smile. People were constantly asking to touch her. As she grew into a young lady she was constantly helping others with her love. At her memorial (she donated her body to science) on a work day where many couldn't attend it. There were over a 100 people that attended. All socioeconomic were represented. All spoke of how she changed their lives. She was known to give hugs to people angry with her. Back to when she was young. I knew that she was more than special. I truthfully knew that God would take her back home. I miss her so much. Occasionally she visits me in my dreams as a child of about 3. One time she gave me a little flower. Then she ran squealing with utter joy. I know that it's not biblical, but I imagine her running around sharing love as angels tried to keep her under control.

I sung this song at our high school graduation in 1992. Now in 2020 I am here again listening to this song, desperately hoping it still remains true...at the end of this year we move away, and I’m leaving my best friend and sister behind. I love her and will miss her more than she’ll ever know.

I am learning the song 'Friends' on piano, because my friends at 'All Peoples Church', which used to be in Diamond Bar, CA, all joined forces to pray me OUT of a coma caused by a brain aneurism. My mom initially called both of my brothers and told them to hurry down to California if they wanted to say "goodbye" to me beFORE I die. "He's currently at Torrance Memorial, in Torrance, CA, where the neurologist said her mentor, Dr. Vespa, the neurologist at UCLA Medical Center could perform a NEW procedure that could save his life, but you have to HURRY!"
Another neurosurgeon somehow found OUT about this conversation, calls my wife and says, "I've been practicing medicine for 25 years, so I know what works, and what does NOT work, and that procedure by Dr. Vespa will NEVER work!"
My poor wife responded, "I'm CERTAIN you know more about this than I do, but we don't seem to have much of a choice!"
Well, obviously, it DID work, because the person entering this information right NOW is that man. But for the rest of my life, I'm going to be quoted for what I said when the medical staff saw me open my eyes after 4 weeks in my coma, take a look at the weeping woman at my bedside, my wife of 17 years, and every medical person yelling out, "Wa-HOO!", and ask me if I recognize the woman. I said, "I'm not sure who she is, but I think I like her a lot."
(Of course, I had to be TOLD that I said this, because I don't remember ever SAYING this!!!)
