Ditto all of this. Just brought in a 17” largemouth last weekend on ultralight gear and a little crappie tube drop shot. My go to drop shot rod is my Daiwa Procyon 7’ UL. The flippy tip shows everything bumping along the bottom.
I picked up a Phenix rod this week. Grabbed a MBX 7' light. Put a Vanford 2500 on it. I only had medium and up and then a bunch of ultralights. Really happy having a light fast rod. Went to a park by my work on my lunch break to cast around and feel it out (#4 mosquito, horsefly, and 1/8oz tungsten). Very first thing I hooked was about a 20lb grass carp. I managed to get its head into the net once but a couple runs later it made it into the culvert that feeds the lake and actually came unhooked instead of breaking which is fine. I set my phone down with the camera rolling and managed to be in frame when I tried to net it. I got it close enough to get a good look. Super fun way to break in a new rod.
Looked chilly but you got to fish a bit with your dad. And gambling the next day at a new spot with the devil may care attitude turned into a decent find. Ultralight drop shot rig for the win! Nice rock bass too. Blessings and Happy Thanksgiving Ethan
Howdy Ethan! I emailed you recently about my success with the Horse Fly. I have also finally started using the Donkey Tail Jr. and I'm torn between which is my favorite. The Donkey Tail Jr. has already caught me so many fish of all different species. So thanks, I hope you are well and I will continue to support Mule Fishing!
Ethan, do you have issues tying to your jigs with 2 pound mono or grade line? It seems like I have nimble fingers when I’m trying to do that either out at the water or even at home. I’m just wondering if it’s me or if it is tough totie With Small pound line.
What’s your recommendation for fishing deep water with UL? I fish off the ledges/walls of Lake Michigan in Chicago. I was getting bites in the summer but now that it’s cold and I can’t get any. I think the weight is just too light for 10ft+ water.
Micro drop shot has been my favorite new technique of 2024. Learned from your vids, so thank you!

Being able to fish with your father is priceless, do it as much as possible, micro drop shot bank fishing is so underrated, I do it all of the time.

Winter is almost here and the micro baits are the way to get it done!!!

Any bites this time of year is a good bite!
Gotta love watching late night fish anything ❤
Great video as always, Ethan, even if it was a little slow!
Nice little video you never know if you don't check
Love those hard charging rock bass! 💪
Enjoyed the vid! 😁 What size hook and weight? Thanks. Also ya rod and reel?
Early winter is a good time to practice new lures and setups if nothing else. I'm dipping into catfish.

Why Procure for your attractant? Have you experimented with any others?
