    Lets assume your database sid is "orcl" . Then In unix system , you can see background process by giving following command
    ps -ef | grep orcl
    To see DB writer
    ps -ef | grep orcl | grep dbwr
    DB Writer is an example of back ground processes.

    Sir, while explaining Oracle database server you call background processes as DB Writer. To my understanding of Scpt 2 Video, 'Connecting to Database Instance in Dedicated Server Mode' background processes and DB Writer are different objects ( I hope this is the correct IT terminology ). As in Scpt 2 video, you have explained how to find the number of background processes, so where can we see the types of background processes existing in the database and number of DB Writers. Thanks & Regards.
