It's interesting to see the differences between the 'pilot' and modern Tipping Point today. Some differences I noticed were: - No multipliers or mysteries - Contestants were much more 'loose' in reaction, communication and body language. Makes me wonder if rules were put in place since to be a bit more humble and respectful towards each other. - Different sound effects, coins seem to sound more real than the artificial clinging noises used today for every movement. - Ben's overall presentation. Clearly this being his first and he's done countless episodes since, he's found a formula that works now. - Different set design and visual animations, hasn't really aged well now. - Different camera movements and shots. This and edits have also found a formula that works now. - Changed/swapped around sound effects in the final round when selecting answers are locked in. - Fake audience applause (unless there was an audience present) in the final. Good thing they removed this. Thanks Kelley, from an Aussie that was curious what the show was like at its launch. This video is valuable to watch!
I also noticed Ben has gotten a bit more careful about his wording: in many drops here it almost sounded like he was telling them when to drop - but it wasn't at a particularly good position. Made me cringe a bit. I think he's gotten more comfortable making non-commital comments.
One more thing that I noted wasn't the same than it is today: After she decided get the money, she didn't drops the 3 coins to see if she would get the 10 grand or not.
It’s amazing to think this show was actually one of 2 shows (along with Don’t Blow The Inheritance!) intended to just be a replacement for The Chase for the summer of 2012. Yet Tipping Point has now gone on for 11 years and over 1,500 episodes! (If you count specials and he Lucky Stars episodes) You could pretty much say it’s now joined The Chase as the staple of ITV’s late afternoon/teatime programming, and long may it continue!
Thank you :) It was such a great experience, I would recommend it to anyone. I actually caught up with Steve last week, we went to see a Celebrity version of the show being filmed :)
0:48 I’m Steve (I think it is called Steve Goulding) I’m a singer an actor from London, 11:16 Steve that means you’re gonna be going home, 12:18 Steve Goulding you’ve got absolutely nothing, Steve says 12:20 Hooray so I’m afraid we’ve reached your tipping point thanks for playing xx
This reminds me a bit of Plinko and those machines I've seen in laundry mats, when you put a coin in, to try and push out some coins. I thought this was pretty entertaining. I think this could work on NBC the best. ABC seems to cancel shows too quickly, FOX does too sometimes, and CBS doesn't seem to like to keep game shows on very long in prime time.
12:23, 23:29, 31:17 if someone is being so naughty or silly in my own jungle I’ll get them Kicked out and they won’t be coming back again, I’ll also say “Thanks For Coming” only one person who is good to go for it and stay in, That’s my own song to be first written in October 2019 called “Thanks For Coming” ok Thanks For Playing
The one thing I would like for this great quiz game is for all four players to keep their cash earnings no matter how they finish. If I had my way producing this program here in the USA, each counter wins $200 in the main game and $500 in the bonus game. The minimum guarantee for any losing player would be $400. Additionally, the top prize in the bonus game would be a luxury car. If a double coin comes with the star coin, twenty-five thousand dollars in cash will be added.
Seems strange watching the first show (Ben looks like he’s just left collage). However the contestants seem like they have all known each other for years, not at all like they are today who are quiet in the beginning then warm up throughout the show.
Kelley, You added a bit of charm and a winning smile to an otherwise dull as dishwater programme. Congratulations on your knowledge, luck and smarts in leaving with the cash!
Tipping Point is a great quiz themed game show to bring here to the USA. This program would be great on ABC Daytime at 10:00 am weekday mornings, along with The Chase at 11:00 am weekday mornings and The $100,000 Pyramid at 12:30 pm weekday afternoons.
well done kelley! u did great, and u made the right decision about the trade at the end. what was it like to be on the show? did u speak to the other contestants after winning?
This show should be brought over to the US, FOX or CBS should pick this up, NBC maybe but ABC should not pick this up "they cancel all of the good shows"
cutemimi25 The U.S. ruined The Chase with the overuse of dramatic pauses. You don't need them before the high offers, the contestant's decision, and every single pushback.
Question 1. Who was the most annoying contestant? Question 2 Who was not disappointed when the most annoying contestant was 2nd to be eliminated? Question 3. Who was the 2nd most annoying contestant? I'm not really sure, but if you've watched "The Chase," and you've watched "Ninja Warrior UK," his amount of laughing at the fails is basically Bradley Walsh level.
I love this show. It must have been exciting to be on the first episode.
Kelley reminds me of a younger Lita Ford, singer/guitarist. Drop Zone 4 seems to be the only one where £10,000 is winnable, though 1 is feasible too.

I don’t actually think they’re sound effects. It’d explain why sometimes it doesn’t play, because it isn’t a violent enough drop.
I also noticed Ben has gotten a bit more careful about his wording: in many drops here it almost sounded like he was telling them when to drop - but it wasn't at a particularly good position. Made me cringe a bit. I think he's gotten more comfortable making non-commital comments.

Yes, but it would be better suited as an ABC Daytime program in my humble opinion.
best show ever
I love the banter from the contestants in this.
Virtually no-one knows when to drop... just before the table stops moving inwards. So they risk riders and a wasted go. But it's so obvious!
Look again. They all drop then. Through the magic of Video Editing the dead time waiting for that is cut.

Well sadly the losing contestants HAVE TO LEAVE EMPTY HANDED AS THAT IS THE RULES OF THE GAME
That would probably be too expensive for the show.
Love watching this show here in OZ. So glad Emma got out . Not a good team player. Didn't like it when the other got counters down .
why does ben shepherd call it this INCREDIBLE machine? these have been in seaside arcades for 70 yrs!!!
