It is interesting that the average soldier today carries over six times more weight, that the soldier in WW2.

Especially when you consider the much greater use of weight saving materials (but that is roundly mocked by the extra equipment that is now deemed essential)

It's carried differently too, back then it was carried on the shoulders. Now days the weight is on the hips.

I've always been interested in collecting the personal kit. Once you find the holdall, the next steps in finding all the period correct items to fill it with, are challenging, but fun. The whole kit then makes a very nice display piece. Thanks Rifleman Moore!
