Wonderful aways loved Popeye
This small trailer looks like the best Popeye movie that could ever be.
Looks promising.
Best thing about a fan film project. No executives can interfere with it.
Hey! That's me! Popeye's mom! 🥰
I had all I can stands and I can’t stands no more.
This guy made my child hood
“What squinky eye?!?”
2:55 That's gotta be Bluto. Maybe meeting him for the first time at the end of the film.
i'll pay a pretty penny tomorroow for a movie today lol
Nice
What happened to the OG characters? Bluto, Olive Oil?
This story takes place before Popeye meets them... but, if you play close attention, you do see one of them in this trailer.
@@VALENTINEproductions Thats also a young/older Poopdeck if im not mistaken? Also Alice the Goon. Castor Oyl at the very beginning. This trailer alone has so much throw back to the original comic strips.
@@thomasschwartzman4327 Yes.
I'm guessing at the 2:55 mark that we are partially seeing Bluto, since Popeye is looking up at him. It seems too tall to be Captain Pistola, who doesn't strike me as being that big.
Will the Wiffle Bird be mentioned?
Bringing back Popeye,my kid's get to further experience characters I grew up watching 👀...
Popeye needs to have a huge jaw--love the Goon costumes (called "ape men" in this trailer). Capt Pistola looks pretty cool as a villain.
Definitely a high point.
Please let this become a reality! I must see this movie!
Popeye lost his eye to Alice the Goon!BRILLIANT!!
A Popeye movie we deserve 👍👍👍😎
WAIT A MINUTE!!! Was the pirate Pistola's look based on Sinbad the Sailor from the old Popeye movie? THAT'S GENIUS!
🤫😊
I have the same feeling about this as I have about what Riverdale did with Archie.
When you make it too serious and modernized you take too much away from what made the franchise.
But I am a 72 year old man and realize not only is not everything aimed at my demographic, but also less and less is aimed at my demographic.
Understandable. This is just a fan film. I'm a huge Popeye fan but everything doesn't always need to be the same. The comics which came first, were different than the cartoons. The cartoons were formulaic and stuck to what worked for them. These characters are 100 years old, theres enough room for different interpretations, different kinds of storytelling with them.
This is the beginning of Popeyes journey

@@VALENTINEproductions awesome frfr
"It's 9 o'clock...curfew.. LIGHTS....OUT"
PLEASE! let it come out soon! I'm still ticked about Sony and what they did. If this comes out it'll be a dream come true!
I'm so happy Popeye is not the Rock....
The Popeye stance at 1:40. Awesome.
Great EYE! There's more of it in the actual movie.
My only complaint is that Popeye did not say 'Ja think I'm a cowboy' to Castor.
My favorite complaint. It's in the movie, just not here in the trailer.
@@VALENTINEproductions I am very glad to hear that.
Popeye is more bad ass then ever before!!!
Omg that actor playing Popeye is MEOW!!! ❤
I was a teen when I saw the first Popeye movie. With the late Robin Williams. I'm looking forward to seeing this version. Because I think you got it Dead on
Appreciate that.
@@VALENTINEproductions your welcome
Actually looks pretty interesting lol
I loved Popeye growing up, as did most kids from my generation. This looks like it only needs about $200 million dollars and you could have something.
If only.
So that's how he lost his right eye.
😢 it's.... it's beautiful.
Awesome job! Love the way the characters are cast and look! Especially the goon, not many would recognize it from the old cartoons.
I didn't, until you mentioned it.
I appreciate that! The Goon's costume was hand made by me. I wanted to give it a real world feel and tactility. The other characters were my design also and just tried to give them modern day updates.
I did recognize the Goon.
i recognize it by the name, who don't know Popeye?!
@@anasbouaamrichannel8019 They were talking about the Goon.
This is the movie I never knew I needed! I REALLY hope you finish this! Popeye needs more recognition!
I’ll gladly pay you Tuesday for a ticket to see this today!!!
Seriously thinking outside the box on this one. Definitely a must see.
I’m hoping to see piles of cheeseburgers 🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔🍔
… I used to crave little McDonald’s Junior Burgers, if I watched it on an empty tummy!!! 😋😋😋 GULP, Gulp, gulp…mmmm…nyummm nyummm! “burp” 🤭
It's good to see so much inspiration from the original Segar strips, but it seems a bit too dark and brooding in tone. However wild the action and thrilling the adventures Popeye was always a wry and extremely funny strip.
Thanks, I agree. Segar himself stated that comedy comes from the seriousness of the characters. There is humor in this, but this Popeye isn't a 70 yr old man. He's younger and he's been alone pretty much his whole life.
Including the Goon was genius! Just shows you really know your Popeye lore. The modern take is pretty interesting. I definitely want to see more.
Your a poet and didn't know it. And maybe you did. Great comment 👍
So he met Castor before he met Olive?? Castor must have introduced the two of them eventually.
Hopefully there are updates. The small budget films are normally the best.
It's interesting how you used a variation of the storyline of the version first popeye story in Thimble Theater comic strip involving a visit to an Island to look for treasure. you did deviate, but for good reason, i give you major props on doing your research for fanfilm.
This stuff just got real.
For a fan film, this looks very ambitious! Nice to see you guys taking a different approach and not just making it cartoony like the Robin Williams movie. This feels more like the original comic strips from Segar, the adventure/mystery aspects, also including the obvious nod to some satire aswell. Seeing the origins of Popeye is refreshing. Great job on this! Cant wait to see the rest.
I read that as "obvious nod to some Sartre as well" and...its not wrong
@@thomasschwartzman4327 The original Popeye movies/cartoons b/w… were hilarious! My parents would even roll around laughing… times have changed heaps!
💥💥💥💥💥💥
Robin williams popeye was also a musical
@@patrickmclaughlin6924 HAHA
@@kathrynbillinghurst188 Yes, I love the old cartoons. They play consistently in my house.
Im all in........POPeye......
Not sure, but a bit curious. Never thought I'd see the adventures of Popeye in today's world.
The greatest superhero of all time....can not be beaten.
only when he runs out of spinach
@@graforlokakanosferatu nope....one time he was literally obliterated. He used a nonexistent arm to pull a can of spinach out of nothing and pour it into a nonexistent mouth, then he rematerialized out of nothing. CAN NOT BE BEATEN.
popeye vs 1punch man 😮
Keep it coming.
What an original take! Can't wait. The Williams-Duvall version was brilliant.
It'd be interesting to see how someone would reimagine Popeye in the modern since.
A dramatic Spinach fanfare in the Winston Sharples style as it was in the early color Famous Studios cartoons. With Sammy Timberg songs included! Full orchestra going ballistic!!
This actually looks funny.
Robin Williams and the previous 1980 cast would approve this
I got a good old chuckle out of this 😂👍
well his eye at the end of the trailer looked Popped
Crazy how 5 seconds of the trailer I was like garbage but something told me to shut up and watch by the end of the trailer I’m glad I didn’t judge the movie in 5 seconds because it looks good
0:37 Hey there, are you a sailor?
You sir are a modern day Thimble Theatre. Is this the first step into a new universe?
Thats kinda the idea. It's a production made like Thimble Theater. Bare bones, no budget, a cast of characters acting out a a story with a bit of satire but also introducing Popeye as a younger man on his own adventure. It's an introduction into his world that would lead to another film where we get to see all the other characters most people know. We'll see what happens though.
I would pay for this all the way.... I will definitely support this
The music box Popeye theme gave me chills. Loooooooved it
I actually played it on a toy xylophone. Took me like a week to learn lol.
Glad im not the only one who caught that. I was feeling it. Gave the trailer some "mystique."
@VALENTINEproductions that makes it even better.
Popeye Begins. Looks great!
It's decent. The camera angles need to be worked out a bit better but at least I can see the concept in the shots. And I didn't know what to think of the timeline setting, it was all over the place. It looked modern at first then went pirates of the caribbean era with a sudden appearance of steampunk. Anyways, needless to say I was hooked all the way through. Good work.
Takes place in modern day, but also about 35 years ago. The pirates were designed as throw backs to keep that feel that comes with Popeye.
Thank you that it's not a musical. Robin Williams portrayal of Popeye was brilliant but that movie was painful to sit thru as a teen.
Wow ! We need this movie !
Looks fantastic !
OMG he's fighting Alice the Goon. Popeye was based on an actual person.
I'll check it out, but I will always be a fan of the 1980 film with Robin Williams.
👀Ey was that Brutus???👏👏👏
Bluto*
Check out the new trailer.

@VALENTINEproductions
👍👍👍
Can't wait to see Wimpy and Sea Hag.
And Popeyes father
I love the Popeye actor's voice! Just like the cartoon ❤
😎Thimble Theatre like The Provincetown Players are about to experience the epitome of their existence : Popeye and Eugene O'Neill ! EC Segar would definitely regard you as a blood relative and true successor to his vision!
He's in Goon island.
I got Chill bumps. Robin Williams played a great Popeye even looked the part. But this a little more serious I can not wait. This is a flashback to my childhood.❤
This is a take on a younger Popeye based more on the original comic strips. Most people dont realize Popeye debuted as a 70 year old man. That's why he looks like that. So this is more of his "young adventures" before Olive and most of everyone we all know.
@@VALENTINEproductions
So was "Popeye" just a nickname, then?
If so, what was his actual name?
Fan film or not if there is a Full movie, how do we watch it?
A movie I would go see for sure. Have not said that about a movie in long time.
At first I thought it was cheesy. But then I saw the Goons and now I actually think I will try and see it.
Wow I’m surprised, to how well the acting and videography is for a low budget film
This looks awesome. I hope you guys make it all the way.
I eats all da worms and spits out da germs I’m Popeye the Sailor Man
Please, for God's sake, tell me this is a true movie and not satire.
We've needed a good Popeye movie for years.
This is a real fan film that will be released later this year.
I would definitely watch this. An original take. Very intriguing. Ambitious, but intriguing.
Great movie watching for real
Looks interesting.. can't wait to set my eyes on the full movie ❤
This film looks interesting. This will be very different than what I grew up with. I loved the cartoon. I actually saw the Popeye movie starring the late but gifted Robin Williams and Shelly Duvall. It's been that long since a movie has been made about this character. These are the only 2 things that I can recall about Popeye. If there was more, okay.
the casting for that movie i thought was perfect, but the movie wasnt that great
but was fun
I have seen the older version of this movie. I think that this movie is going to do well in theaters.
Wowser, this and the other teaser trailer and the short are absolutely fantastic! I am huge Popeye fan and this was awesome. Thank you, well done and good luck! 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Beyond fantastic!
A huge fan of the original Fleischer b&w cartoons, this is a great homage to them. Loved the Goons interpretation!
Well done, can't wait for the entire production to be released.
Will it be on Netflix? Hulu? Amazon? Apple tv? Will it be available on DVD?
Once again, tres bien!
Yoo that was so good omg it's great to see Popeye again also great trailer
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed!
1. I can't tell at the trailer's start whether the pregnant woman is Olive Oyl with the kid in the familiar maroon pajama.
2. The movie exudes a soft-touched One Piece-like atmosphere.
3. It appears that the hero doesn’t need spinach to boost his strength this time.
1. No
2. Never seen one piece.
3. He's always been strong to the finish.
When is this coming out? This looks amazing!
For once…,.someone with some imagination!!!!👏👏👏👏 not sure how well it is but I’d watch it to see!!
Kinda ready for this
Love where this is heading. Good job!
The guy playing Popeye has a very interesting Popeye voice. It reminds me of Robin Williams' Popeye voice but with more of a rugged Backstreet Brawler/Film Noir Detective kind of tone
Thank you for noticing, I appreciate that!
Well, Scrub my Deck Man, if that, ain't the Most!..
😂
It should put the sound of 'POPEYE, THE SAILOR MAN , tut tut' .😊
Yo I can't wait for this I still eats me spinach to this day cause of Popeye let's go
Awwww, look like this is a darker twists from the original.
Wouldn't say darker. This is more in tone with the original comics, not the 1980 movie or cartoons.
I'm here for this
I'm not sure what I think of this...Ah, what the Hell, I'm in!
Popeye without his pipe? 😮
I think this might be a kickstarter or an origin story and plus, he has 2 eyes. I think this would be before getting his eye gouged
Yes.
I'll gladly pay you Tuesday, for a full-length movie today.👍
I love the updated approach. Imagine the possible new versions of the Sea-Hag, Wimpy and Eugene the Jeep.☺
This story takes place before Popeye meets any of the other characters we all know, but... they may pop up.
@@VALENTINEproductions Castor Oil.........eventually Popeye will find out the other members of that family, I'm quite sure.
Still eagerly awaiting this prequel.
We appreciate you Michelle.
