Acceleration is not a useful test. It's a work vehicle. The holden produces 500nm of Torque. This makes it a massively capable tow vehicle. I own one and use it to tow a loaded base station and a very heavy boat. It tows better than my Land Cruiser did with the longer wheel base and uses half the fuel. With laps around Australia including rough out back with the base station. Totally reliable to date. Cheers all.
DMAX is definitely the better choice, its probably the best all round pick up on the market. Great fuel economy, towing capability, reliability. The power matches the chassis well.
Lulz - your overstressed Holden will spend its life at the service shop, but hey at least you can listen to good tunes on your media system when your stuck waiting for the pickup truck ;) Isuzu much better build quality than Holden, you have been warned.
***** You realize the torque available in a holden completely disappears as soon as the revs climb, there is no discernible difference in power. Dont be so susceptible to numbers on a spec sheet. But let's see how well you are doing around the 150k mark - good luck ;)
dmax is much more reasonable to buy. Very value of money for maintainec, fuel consumtion. Still much powerfull for towing, carring, performence. dmax 3.0 only
Can modern diesels such as these handle short runs .I mean a couple of miles to work in the morning where they don't heat up much Or stop start city driving etc ?
I have a 2.8 TD ISUZU part time 4x4 with manual gearbox from 1995. The car is full of dents and has terrible fuel economy. However all these years never let me down and will not stop at anything. Reliability is out standing with very low maintenance cost.
Why the D-Max is the better pick over the Colorado 1. Better dashboard 2. Better seats 3. Cheaper 4. More reliable and quieter engine 5. Better looking 6. Longer warranty 7. Better suspension 8. Better gearbox 9. Better handling 10. Easier to find for cheap
Don't know the exact figures, but I rented a Isuzu (2014) to move machinery one way about 500km. Back of the ute loaded and towing a large tandem axle trailer, including hills etc I was very impressed. It was at least 30% plus cheaper than any of my other petrol vehicles with no load. Having said that, I wasn't getting my foot into though, just going easy. Was impressed.
Actually they are different variants of the same engine; just as the engine in an Opel Adam or a Vauxhall or Fiskar Karma is made by GM, they are just labeled differently but Isuzu has been doing diesels for GM since 1971 www.isuzu.co.jp/world/corporate/about/history.html www.isuzu.co.jp/world/corporate/engine/lineup.html
They are 2 different engines, the Colorado being modeled on the 2.8 litre Fiat VM Motori motor, Fiat Chrysler using the deceptive name of Duomax, the Isuzu DMax is the 3 Litre 4JJ1 truck motor, the only motor in the world with a B10 longevity rating.
dmax is a clone of the coloardo, though the coloardo storms ahead in every gear that matters, not sure what Isuzu r doing still using 5 speed transmission, holden ford and mazda are all 6 speed transmission manual and auto........
Alan Goodman really not sure, the ltz top model is under 43000.00 drive away, not sure on Isuzu.coloardo 6 speed transmission, 3.5 ton towing, 5 star safety rating, the auto is 500 nu of power, 147kw.
Chevrolet is in the states not in Australia here its holden coloardo. certainly hope people didn't buy dmax as spirit of Australia cause they would be very disappointed!!!!!!!!!
ISUZU IS THE BEST ENGINE!!! NO NEED TO ARGUE WITH THAT... Specification papers? Fuck that! They are just papers... GET IN THE REAL LIFE DUDE! Isuzu engine will last longer than others... Remember your investing a money in a car... Then be a wise person choose the one will last longer for the money you invest is put in a good use...
Isuzu, Chevy, Holden, all owned by GM. I have a 2007 Isuzu ascender, I love it. I’ve had it since it was new. But it’s a GM vehicle. If I could still get an Isuzu in the states, I would. They are awesome!

+madrx2 - yes now rewatch the video again and keep an eye on the video seconds for DMAX - 9 SECONDS - information is biased.
If you watch "4WD Action" the DMAX is always pulling the recovery for other vehicles...Its a stand alone beast!
I like the ISUZU D-MAX better!!
dmax is much more reasonable to buy. Very value of money for maintainec, fuel consumtion. Still much powerfull for towing, carring, performence. dmax 3.0 only
Holden definitely wins here with the most powerful engine in a mid-size pickup
Ricky Julian well i think my toyota has the most powerful engine in a mid size pickup. with a 4l v6 and 175kw.. it can do 0-100 in about 7sec
***** Could imagine it does 0-15l/100km pretty quick too.
***** I bet it doesn't have 500Nm though. Utes are all about off-road and towing in my opinion
true, because i dont tow and dont off road much

if you will take a look closely at the 0-100 acceleration the dmax got it by 9 seconds as well
9.4 or thereabouts
yup
+osama that is very slow
how fast would like a pick-up truck go?
osama
most pickups here do 7 sec for v6 and
faster for v8 models
Isuzu = real truck sound
Colorado = car-like sound
0-100 times? best vehicle off road? please..
I really like how the isuzu performs
Isuzu D-Max = Chevrolet Luv D-Max
Holden Colorado = Chevrolet S-10
+edison cardenas Colorado Canyon = Isuzu Dmax
David Stanley Jum otra más, debería ser un nombre global para todas
edison cardenas
I am sorry I do not speak your language
David Stanley ok

i don't know who are the winner?
The camera work! wtf
That colorado is a beast
+Jonathan _ beast in fuel consumption,
el Freon de la dmax tiene major repuesta
Colorado sounds more torque
Dmax sounds like need help
500nm doesn't lie,just people!.
ISUZU (y)
I'll have the one with the timing chain and not timing belt
Is the Isuzu DMax a Duramax engine?
No, the Isuzu uses the 4JJ1-TCX engine. The Holden uses the 2.8 Duramax engine.
dmax of course
I'm pretty sure the Colorado is powered by Isuzu lol
Different engines in these models.
I'm 100 percent sure that a 2.8 LTR Duramax engine is different to a 3.0 LTR Isuzu motor!

Alan Goodman really not sure, the ltz top model is under 43000.00 drive away, not sure on Isuzu.coloardo 6 speed transmission, 3.5 ton towing, 5 star safety rating, the auto is 500 nu of power, 147kw.

Adrian Chua 100% agree
Google 2006 Isuzu i350 vs 2006 Chevy Colorado... UH... Same damn truck.
Craig Potts

@@btrapp37 After my 03 Silverado Z71, I will never buy another GM.
Its the same car manufacturer. Just a little fake magic for stupid people
No it's not. Completely different engine for starters.
its the same car lmao
colorado, this is an Isuzu in disguise
A Holden tudo bem, mais a Isuzu que merda, ela copia a D- Max, a Trailblazer e a S10.
Odeio a Isuzu
Have you driving the Holden and the D-max?
And what about the Colorado with its 2.8 l 4 cyl and Amarok with its shitty 2.0 l 4 cyl if you want power buddy go buy a big v8
Colorado = powerhouse
Isuzu = shithouse
Tell that to the rapidly growing Holden Colorado vehicle problems group.
The Isuzu is better for reliability, quality, and cost. The Colorado RG1 is a bag of shit.
Colorado = powerhorse. Dmax = horseshit
