- RTX 5080 Vs 4080 DEEP DIVE: Cache, SM & Bandwidth Benchmarks
Following on from our RTX 5080 ASUS ASTRAL review, we do a RTX 5080 Vs RTX 4080 DEEP DIVE with some micro benchmarks, where we test the performance of the cache, SM and memory bandwidth. We used the Nemezs GPU micro benchmarking suite for these tests, to really put the other parts than those for ray tracing and gaming of the ASUS ASTRAL RTX 5080 to the test.
Join us for this deep dive of the RTX 5080 ASTRAL vs the ASUS ROG GAMING STRIX RTX 4080 card, for a more in-depth look at the performance of the Cache, SM & Bandwidth to really put some of the unsung parts of the RTX 50 Blackwell architecture to the test.

I love how all of these benchmarks of 5090s and 5080s are basically useless for consumers right now because no one can buy them.
5080 you cam but and a big but normal price is 1200 euro for 4080 but for the 5080 it it it is now 1555 euro over here 😮❤
They just havent released yet. They should come out in March.
i can sell u 1... asus prime 1400 euros =) + sending...
only those chosen one were able to buy it with listed MSRP, others including me had to buy it with bundled and “commission fee” 😢
@@Oliver-sn4be TUF equivalents are 2000 USD here and idk what to say man...
RTX 5080/5090 = the influencer/youtuber edition!
Interesting and informative.. great content.. 👍
wish the 5080 had 24gb ram though… I fear 16gb will prove insufficient for 4k in some instances in the near future 😢
Going to stick with my 3090 until I see what RDNA 4 is like for value, because the Nvidia 50 series looks bad value.
I've upgraded to the 5080 Astral OC, and I must say, that my games runs a lot smoother, but then again, I upgraded from a GT 730 2GB.
No shit. You are upgrade from literally E-waste to a real gpu.
GT 730 2gb is just a glorified display output.
@@SamrasNeela When you're right, you're right. 😆
Bruh you’re a comedian😂
@@heroicsquirrel3195 No, I'm just wierd.
And in these times, it really helps to be wierd.
nVidia's Scalpewell technology ......
16gb for the 5080 is a disgrace.
If you think of it as 5070 as it really is, then 16GB makes sense. It's not really that fast that it needs 24GB.
Thx for mentioning it for the first time. Somebody had to say it!
I have seen you do any benchmarks before!!
Thank you!
There are some differences and no one’s really talking about it
corporate wants you to tell the difference between this picture and this picture
nvidia fanboy: theyre the same picture
This discussion seems academic to me. No GPU's available and the prices for this RTX 5070 in disguise is nuts. £1,700.00 for a 16 gig graphics card in 2025? Is Nvidia that greedy? Yes, they are. I know some cards are cheaper, but still over £500.00 too expensive for what you get in 2025.
Generation meh...
Let's hope The Braindead use that single, shared neurone and decide NOT to purchase, for a change.
It’s not just nvidia, it’s the partner cards, the scummy scalping stores and filthy scalpers on eBay, the whole market has become a cesspool of greed
doubling the FP16 vs 32 performance would be interesting, just like AMD is doing (no idea if it works in practice). The fp32/int32 change is probably compute oriented. I doubt it will be utilized by games since they do not have enough integer calculations to make a difference
It's purely a compute improvement. Just like RDNA 3 adding dual issue ALUs.
Why Audio not working over DP 1.4 DSC 4k240Hz with new RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. There is threads at Nvidia forum and Reddit you can check. With DP 2.1 support, there is no fallback method and we need to buy new monitors?
Even if we could get ahold of a 5090 or 5080 I would not buy one for just games, price to performance it's just not there I don't care what software comes with it as what makes it appealing is not quite ready yet unless you already have a decent frame rate, honestly I would put a cut off at the 5070, 5070ti since I hope it can be possible to get a decent raster performance to then use upscaling and frame Gen. All that .
Also maybe the 6000 series or whatever they call it will go in another direction but for the 40 and 50 series seems to be moving away from gaming so yeah you can get a monster of a card, but never hit it's true usefulness since you are just gaming.
If you got the cash cool, buy one it's your money, not mine.
But there's cheaper alternatives out now "IF" you can find them in stock, I am referring to a new generation card.
That's just it though, Nvidia and Intel have both been short on the supply side, hopefully AMD will have different luck.
Also Mr. Jensen, dear sir, what the heck went through your mind when you half serious said everyone goes home to a 10,000 dollar "command center"? Are you that out of touch? That statement alone is as lame as your Crisis joke 🤣🤣🤣 also and this I suppose is totally personal opinion, but I believe it goes to show where his mind is theses days, stop wearing jackets that are my entire clothing budget for a year. I get you want to look good, and it is a look you can go with but your saying the wrong thing by wearing it at least when cameras are on you .
Again I don't care what comes out of Nvidia, they are moving away from the gaming sector in favor of the business sector, so they made a series that thus far is little better than the last unless you want to talk about AI. Kinda plain to see this, so do what has been floating around since the 40 series, make GeForce a separate line, and your AI focused cards another line.
Thanks and sorry so long.
Hopefully by the time the 9070/9070 XT launch in March, nVidia will have a decent supply of 5070/5070 Ti cards and 5080s. I doubt 5090 stock will normalize until May or June.
If AMD has something fairly decent in the 9070 XT which leaks seem to suggest it's maybe better than the projected performance of the 5070Ti then they absolutely need to get that reviewed before the 5070 & 5070Ti because what always ends up happening is Nvidia will get their reviews in and sure they haven't been great lately but unfortunately buyers will still say "well there isn't anything else on offer so what choice do I have", and even after the 9070 XT is out people will still be Google "Nvidia GPU reviews" then reading/watching those won't have the 9070 XT in if AMD plays this waiting game!
But if AMD released their cards first, and obviously need to be at a way more attractive price than the already known 5070 and 5070Ti prices then the Nvidia reviews would be absolutely DOA, but if they release after then the buys that just glance at end performance chart will just think "ok it's not great but the only option I have it seems"
Basically, AMD shouldn't want to see a single 5070 or 5070Ti review out there that doesn't have a 9070XT on there showing it's faster (if this is right) and it's cheaper (if AMD wants market share).
AMD please take the lead, be bold, give customers a no brainer this generation!
You’re thinking too well, this is AMD marketing team we’re talking about.
They ALWAYS shoot themselves in the foot even though fans are rooting for them.
The problem is AMD is literally waiting for 5070 Ti reviews. So that they can price their 9070 XT well enough to slot into the right position.
@stangamer1151 yeah, I believe this is the won't approach, it's fine to wait to see what the competition has but AMD knows everything now. You can very accurately predict what the performance will be of the 5070 and 5070Ti is going to be, we know the pricing already, if AMD has 'good hand' then play your cards now, this will give you the upper hand because every single Nvidia review will be talking about how much better the AMD offering is so don't buy this card but instead if you wait then maybe a few reviews will say AMD has new cards coming but we don't know what performance they will be or what pricing.
These people dont understand the difference between a private build that isn't published and something on steam. Legal minded people are the worst. Nosebergs
The unobtainable card!
Just picked up my 5080 fe today, wasnt really hard to get at all
I'm happy with my RTX 4060.....
your integer tests have to be faulty, the 5000 series has double the int pipes compared to Ada
Nvidia are using gamers to crowd fund their AI development. By rebranding AI machines as GPU'S. GREAT for AI. CRAP! for gaming. MASSIVE FLOP!
Really then who makes better gpus than Nvidia for gaming.
@I.C.Weiner The 50 series GPU's are all bricked. Have you not heard?. Paperweights😅
amd is bad driver
