I have just finished watching this drama, and I read whereby there was alternative ending whereby a modern Wang So gives modern Soo a handkerchief as she was crying looking at the paintings on show from the Goryeo period she lived in. Some say, that would have been a better ending……. We all want HEA don’t we? I doubt whether there will ever be a S2 after this length of time.

Never binge watched anything so fast in my life. Pulled a couple of all nighters 🥴 then walked around totally despondent for days….. I can see why that series is very often at No 1 of the all time best list.
2023 and 7 years have passed but i still find myself madly in love with the drama and everything else … the pain i felt , the struggles , and the lessons I learned 🤍 everything was so perfect and amazing I’ve watched 8 times and will make it 10 soon 😁💘🫂

I heard this drama under performed in South Korea and that's one of the reasons for them not moving forward with season 2. Just finished the 20th episode. Actually I found this drama from a blog that posted comments about time travel dramas similar to the C-drama 'Dreaming Back to the Qing Dynasty' and Scarlet Heart Ryeo was quoted. Although I am six years late, I count myself lucky to have found this K-drama. The plot and story-line was on point and I like how their love story developed. This drama had me crying bucket of tears even though I already expected it to be sad-ending. Kudos to the actors, their acting skills were superb.. This is not a typical story of love at first sight. He is not her first love but I think he understood it in the end that he was her one true love. She mentioned in one of her letters when exactly she started to fall him. It is hard not to fall for him looking at what he did & sacrificed for her, but circumstances and scheming torn them apart again and again to the point she died pining for him.. my heart breaks so many times watching that. However, the ending left me wondering whether Wang So knew that the little girl is actually his daughter with Hae Soo? It was not explicit enough for me. I guess this drama will haunt me for a long long time..........................................
I was late in watching this drama too. The story, costumes, the suffering, tears, betrayal and the sacrifices each one of them made for each other is outstanding. The final episode is heartbreaking not only for their sudden farewell but the misunderstanding that king Wang had for a while thinking she was loving someone else. I was angry with Jung for hiding her calligraphy in order for king not to recognize that they were from Hae Soo. It was painful to watch he is left with her ashes and. facing the world in such a lonely way with the burden that the throne weighed on him. I think he realized that that was his daughter that's why he. re-instated Jung's visitation to the palace. I wasn't clear about Baek Ah when he meets the little Bok Soon. Was she his daughter? And, why was she with Wook?
Wang So knew that's his daughter, it was hinted by him recognizing the hair clip and he mentioned that his marriage permission and the girls age do not add up. He left because he is an emperor, and Hae Soo didn't wanted her daughter to be associated with that.
It was his daughter because you can see when hae Soo got married to the 14th prince , the doc checked that one time she got terribly weak and said this time you can hear the heart beat of the baby properly I think she was 4 months pregnant or something I forgot
I'm also late to this drama but I also want to add that Wang So suspected it was his daughter that is why he asked about her age and in the end Jung tells him by saying Hae Soo didn't want her child raised in the palace and in return the king allows Jung to start visiting the palace again, no doubt so that he can see more of that daughter.
such a heartbroken drama... i watched it two or three years ago then i watched again this week and i realized again, wang so and hae soo deversed better. i hope i found love like this, like wang so's love
I'd remember way back then we were crying at the last minute of its episode. We were still 3rd yr college at that time and this ost makes me wanna cry again. I miss my friends and my boardmates who watched this at the same time. Its been 5 yrs we are still hoping for season 2.

I still remember 2020 was when I came across this drama because one of my friend suggested as it was supposed to drive me emotionally crazy. And it did 😂. I couldn't get over the trauma I got after watching the last few episodes.....very heartbreaking that I couldn't dare watch any other emotional plot dramas since then. But honestly, this was the best storyline I have ever come across. So much efforts put to depict different emotional circumstances. Not sure if the drama was supposed to end that sad or if there was an unreleased climax but there is still a void left for the climax in my heart.
I love their songs...Nevertheless is a simple, yet great drama...very realistic. The actors portrayed well their roles, even the supporting casts were well picked and executed well. You feel all the emotions, love, deceit and frustrations but love always and still prevails. The love or bed scenes were tastefully made and their kisses and hugs were so heartfelt.
omg looking back, this was a drama about the second male lead WINNING, and I love that about it. 4th Prince was framed as the second ML all the way even until the end and you just GOTTA give the writers credit for following through with the unconventional choice and coming out on top with such a tear-jerking romance story
All songs are so touching. I felt sad when all the princes died one after another. Such a sad but great serial. Loved it. There can never be season 2 but what will she do in her world. She will never be able to live normally

My heart aches every time i think about them. I always think if Jung would not have written his name on the letters, Wang so would have read the letters Hae soo sent. I wish they at least had talked for the last time, even if she was dying.
I have only seen a few scenes here and there, though I have heard about this for a long time..but even the few scenes show such convincing and raw performances that I think about the character's thoughts and feelings to the point that I'm scared to watch this drama being unable to handle the intensity...i cannot understand why such an art doesn't have big ratings...as storytellers, as actors, as musicians, as art directors, cinematographers, director, everyone who have worked in this drama have done a spectacular job..

This was my fav song from the drama ❤ The drama was really heartbreaking and thought provoking. I felt that transgeneration traumas were healed in me because I cried a lot on it and I realized that there is nothing in new under the sun, just decades changed.. lots of people want to be a "king" in nowadays too, just the methods of fighting/k*lling has changed through the years.. Love is eternal,but happiness not, that is why we should live in the now, not in the past or future, and not controll things that we can not change. I really liked this drama! ❤ I hope one day there will be a 2nd season of it.. 🙏

Oh, how we all hoped. Watched this DVD again 10/23/22. And again never fails I get chicken skin. This man can kiss, and you feel it from the bottom of his heart. She loved him till the end. So powerful love story. I guess this is why we all hoped. He bared his soul by having Hae Soo fix his scar, that took alot out of Wang So. So much love that it is painful!!!
Wang Wook proved Soo his love only with words. But Wang So proved her his love with actions. When I was young, I didn't understand why Soo chose So but not Wook. I preferred Wook than So when I was young but as I grew older, I found out why So was a better man for Soo and my bias fell for him.

I don't think we'll get a season 2 because their story is over. There isn't a meaningful way to bring them back that will be as heartfelt as the ending we have.

I love this drama my all time favorite! So incredibly heartfelt and related to what I’ve gone through with my own relationships you just love someone so much and you can’t help who your heart wants but you keep moving forward even if it gets tough you have to stay strong even if it hurts you can’t stop living or loving you just learn how to live with the pain and try to live well

My heart aches every time i think about them. I always think if Jung would not have written his name on the letters, Wang so would have read the letters Hae soo sent. I wish they at least had talked for the last time, even if she was dying.
I have only seen a few scenes here and there, though I have heard about this for a long time..but even the few scenes show such convincing and raw performances that I think about the character's thoughts and feelings to the point that I'm scared to watch this drama being unable to handle the intensity...i cannot understand why such an art doesn't have big ratings...as storytellers, as actors, as musicians, as art directors, cinematographers, director, everyone who have worked in this drama have done a spectacular job..
I watched it in 3 days, finished yesterday, cried my eyes out, beautiful, sad, funny, tragic, romantic, cute, all mixed up together, highly recoomend

I can't believe that I found this drama and loved it after four years....
This was my fav song from the drama ❤ The drama was really heartbreaking and thought provoking. I felt that transgeneration traumas were healed in me because I cried a lot on it and I realized that there is nothing in new under the sun, just decades changed.. lots of people want to be a "king" in nowadays too, just the methods of fighting/k*lling has changed through the years.. Love is eternal,but happiness not, that is why we should live in the now, not in the past or future, and not controll things that we can not change. I really liked this drama! ❤ I hope one day there will be a 2nd season of it.. 🙏

Oh, how we all hoped. Watched this DVD again 10/23/22. And again never fails I get chicken skin. This man can kiss, and you feel it from the bottom of his heart. She loved him till the end. So powerful love story. I guess this is why we all hoped. He bared his soul by having Hae Soo fix his scar, that took alot out of Wang So. So much love that it is painful!!!
Wang Wook proved Soo his love only with words. But Wang So proved her his love with actions. When I was young, I didn't understand why Soo chose So but not Wook. I preferred Wook than So when I was young but as I grew older, I found out why So was a better man for Soo and my bias fell for him.
This is the best drama ever!! Even until now in 2022 there is no other drama that has better plot, acting, and OST, ever!!!!
