Great to see you feeling much more positive after the initial devastation. You've obviously got plenty of things to keep you busy, and the recovery routine will replace the training over the next couple of months. You have a great support team & we're all behind you 100%.
Wishing you a full recovery & coming back even stronger.
Kia Kaha from NZ
Thank you Malcolm!
Extremely inspirational person and I am sure watching your recovery will be even more so. As a beginner runner working towards a half m this summer I am loving this channel. Bravo.
Ben... Are you able to tell us yet how you actually got injured?
Last vid
@@leocossham didn't actually say how.
Driving me nuts
I heard he was drunk on an e-scooter🤷♂️
I’m happy to see you smile again and be positive. Good recovery Ben !
you're the first person i've seen wearing split shorts while having a broken leg :)
I own very little else!
Split shorts are a state of mind
Thank you 😊🙏🏾🙏🏾💯
Nice to see you smiling again Ben
Great to see a smile on your face again!! :)
Sarah is very generous helping you out. Very lucky of you!!
Glad you’re seeing Scott. Looks like we’ve got the same hip routine.
Good to see you smiling again Benny boy 😊
Great video but who was the guy in the kitchen in the last few frames when you were about to watch tv?
My flat mate!
Great to see you in good spirits and positive💪💪💪💪
Even in your darkest hour , YOU still have the ability to INSPIRE people - a TRUE champion quality , just use this shitty time to Rest , Recover , and control that burning fire inside you that needs to run ( Time to TRAIN your MIND ) while NOT running , Don't think to far ahead ( it gets you down ) take it one day at a time , Because YOU WILL BACK RUNNING 1000% .
back smiling…great stuff Ben!
Advice for going up stairs with crutches: give one to a friend and put you hand on the banister if there is one. It's safer in case of over balancing
Hahaha some things never change!😄👍 catching Sarah at the end... thought she’d got away with the thumbs up!😏
Hi Ben
Maybe you could get on a Fitnessbike and do some oneleged Cardio💪🙏
So great to see you back on the grind! You're an inspiration. Amped to come along for the recovery adventure
hey Champ I knew You would not just lay down and be outkicked. Strong and so kind You are some very very cool and great personality. Congratulate in the world again. But I just want to support You and I think Youare doing the right thing even if it is hard not to be able to run. Yourscincerely Inga Denmark.
Thank you Inga! Appreciate the support!
@@BenParkes You areso wellcome. Smiling Inga to You.
your on crutches pace is still quicker than my running pace :)
Top Bloke 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You’re going to need one new 1080v10 😆
There's a man in the kitchen at the end
my flatmate!
@@BenParkes Haha good to know it's not a stranger. Hope yer on the mend.
Dude, do you really sleep in that hat?
Je veux te voir marcher plus avec tes béquilles
Hi Ben. How did you actually break your ankle? Hope to get well soon 🏃♂️🏃♂️
Car accident
skateboarding I heard
@@Alex.1739 Well he was in a running club session at the time so maybe not.
BenGmanUk i made that comment before i saw how upset in the previous vid. feel bad now.
Still would love to know what happened?
I reckon a fall on the Greenwich foot tunnel stairs?
@@MartinPeterCharlie I think he ran into a little old lady on a mobility scooter and that's why he's imbarrassed to say 🤔
@@alanshrimpton6787 😂 interesting, I reckon the foot tunnel stairs. Do you live in the area? I do and that's pretty much the only risk between his training route and his flat.
@@MartinPeterCharlie no sorry I'm in New Zealand and little old ladies here in mobility scooters are out right dangerous 🤭
Who's the random guy in the kitchen at the end!! :D
Just my flat mate!
Ben Parkes I was hoping for something more exciting than that... 😂
😂 how did you manage to spot that
Oh man I love how optimistic you are, currently going through an injury myself and haven't run in almost 6 weeks :( This gives me the positive boost to remind me 1. I'm not alone 2. I'll come back stronger! Keep the injury content coming, super valuable!
Luvin that smile back :)
Terrible to hear about your injury, Ben. This said, I'm almost more excited to watch someone come back to run a pb from surgery than someone doing it from a perfect starting position. Nothing more motivating than someone working through misfortune. Good luck with the recovery and thanks for the videos 🙇♂️
In a weird way, you did choose a fitting time to get injured with the majority of major races and events being cancelled. Here's hoping this pandemic goes away as quickly as you can heal up and everything will be back to normal 👍
In a shitty way, it really couldn't have happened at a better time haha.
Hi Ben, great seeing you being positive as always. On the brightside, if you were going to break a leg now is probably the best time! Most big races are cancelled or will be cancelled soon, including the marathon I was training for.
You can 100% get back. Have you watched the Tim Dom documentary on how he came back. Maybe you could produce a similar doc on your comeback as a focus as well as your daily blogs. Also sessions on the indoor Watt bike when first coming back to replicate sessions and non weight bearing.
I've been in your situation many times ( I have shyte ankles) and the best part about it is that it teaches you to really appreciate being healthy and the privilege that running really is. It is an appreciation that will make each of our future runs extra special because you will now know that good health is a special gift too easily taken for granted. My unsolicited recovery advice is to follow the physios advice, don't push beyond pain point. Be guided by how your ankle feels and back off when you reach that pain point and you will recover quickly.
So good to see you smile again and all Marathons in Europe are cancelled at the moment so you may be able to run the postponed ones...
Yeah, sad to see the situation developing and so many (understandably) cancelled races. The Autumn is going to be a crazy busy time for running!
Dude! Drop one crutch out of your hand and let it hang, whilst you hold on to the stair rail with that hand and push down on the other one to go up, one step at a time! You maniac hahaha x
Ben, are you able to tell us exactly how you broke your ankle? I think it was meant to have been covered in the last video
Ben Parkes gets injured- running worldwide has been cancelled for 2 months... hmmm coincidence??!
Get well soon ben, we know you have the ability to smash this, love!
Love seeing you keeping the positive alive and well through all of this. Hope everything is going well.
You never really told us what happened in the accident. Not sure if you're if you're comfortable sharing or not. Either way, we'll all be here. :)
Well many marathons are postponed or canceled. so take the time Ben.
You should wrap something around those crutch handles as you will probably use them much more than an average person (in terms of fitness) and the handles will really cut into your hands. Something like AQF Power Weight Lifting Wrist Wraps (search Amazon) bulk out the handles pretty well. Hopefully, you'll be off the crutches soon but for anyone who really wants to get around while using crutches, the ones with ergonomic handles are best. (Some years back I bought some for about £70 and am hoping I will never have to use them again!)
Thanks for the tip Detek! Appreciate that. Will have a look
Lol ben aren't you worried your left NB 1080 will wear out before your right?
Ha.. rotating all by shoes so they don't ware out too soon on one side!
Hope you’re back fully fit again soon 👍🏼
All the best with the recovery Ben. Do you have a link to Amy's earlier podcasts?
She hasn't launched it yet.. just getting the first few weeks of material before it all goes live. Will update on here when it's ready!
Cheers @@BenParkes, looking forward to having another regular pod to listen to.
Ben, I have had a crap year of injury (not quite so severe but stopped my running). Belatedly I have found out that you have to re focus and make that focus on what you CAN do - as you have said. It’s a new challenge, wishing you a speedy recovery 👍
Well done for keeping positive. Your last video was a hard watch as you were very emotional, good to see you smiling and happy again. Keep working on recovery, you’ll be back in 2 shoes soon!
You got through some tears on your last vid mr. I would have completely been the same. Glad to see you back to you smiley self. 👍🏻
Nice one Ben, hope the recovery goes well! Incase you didn't know, there was a guy in your flat at the end of the video 😂
That is a bit freaky, he looks like he's raiding the fridge!
@@littlebritton1 Vegan fridge raider. I guess its possible?!
Says it's his flatmate in another comment!? I thought it was just the two of them in that flat!
Aqua jogging worked wonders for me post surgery, best of luck with the recovery Ben!
You got injured and then all marathons are cancelled ....How much power do you have !!!😁 Get well soon. "Go n'eirì an bothar leat"
Thanks for showing us your progress. It's nice to see you out and about. I bet Kiki has loved having you around the flat more.
Can't wait to see you on your feet and looking thrilled from the running you do! Get well soon and have a speedy recovery!
Great to see you looking forwards and trying to do every thing you can do, all the little steps will surely help. Sending you some good vibes Ben! All the best, Marc
So glad to see you smiling again, I need your happiness in my life. Smiles are contagious!
Hey Ben, was there no pain after the surgery? You went to physio 5 days later? What was the surgery you had? I am getting bimalleolar this coming week.
The pain was manageable after surgery.. had some pain killers, but didn't really take any.. can't remember exactly. I had a plate and screws on my broken fibula to line it back up again. All the best to you and your journey!
@@BenParkes Many thanks 🙂
I've not run for a week and it's killing me... Had an injury and even niggle free 2019.....2020 I've been plagued... 😢
Poor old Ben, still can’t believe you broke your ankle. Bigger news than Corona if you ask me.
I’m 9 weeks post orif surgery after dislocating my ankle playing football, the Fragmin they inject you with to thin the blood - I actually was severely allergic to and had anaphylactic shock so had to go back to a and e in an ambulance!! I do have a few questions for you about recovery etc if you don’t mind :) Wish I found your videos sooner man !
Great video Ben! Great to see you looking and sounding like the Ben Parkes we all know again!! Days will fly by and your soon be up and running again! 💪🏼🏃♂️
Admist your own traumatic injury, you and Sarah are encouraging others and leading (or guiding) by example. Commendable! 👟🎽
Great to see you back on your feet Ben, my wife is a physio and was pleased to see you taking on the challenge of climbing those stairs. She's impressed by your crutches technique.
Hi Ben, my daughter has a broken ankle and your videos are good source of inspiration for her
whats up with everyone using that same song in the intro? Kofuzi, Talbot cox, now ben Parkes
Two Oceans Marathon in South Africa just been cancelled, so more time to prep for 2021. :)
Good to see you in better spirits Ben ! Since you're healthy and fit you'll get over it in no time. And there are plenty of workouts you can do with crutches. Google it !
Maan I was told not to do any exercises until my 6 weeks is up. Hope I'm not getting bad advice. But how do you walk around so much . As soon as I put my foot down it goes purple and feels like it will explode!
You’ll be back before you know it ! Must be frustrating...Do you still rate the polar OH1 strap ?
You have a super attitude Ben. Remain positive and great to see you back to normal (almost)💪🏻
Hey Ben
Try to find an armergo (biking with your arms) so that your heart can still work ! Best recovery wishes !
There’s one at my gym. Will go there once I’ve met the surgeon and know it’s all healing well. So hopefully end of next week! Thanks for the tip!
Speedy recovery Ben. Listen to The Well with Dylan Bowman podcast. He just had a good interview with Pau Capell.
Love to see your smile back! With such a strong and positive mindset, I believe that you would come back stronger!
Great to see you up and about and clearly a lot happier in yourself. Great work. You’ll be back in no time.
From one injured runner to another, just keep doing what you’re doing and focus on the positives! I’ve been out almost 7 weeks now so can really empathise with you. Love watching your content it certainly keeps me motivated! 😁
Ace video Ben, great to see you upbeat and cheerful again 🙂👍, good luck recovering and well done Sarah to.
Always smiling! You are such an inspiration Ben, and I hope you make a solid fast recovery!
good luck ben and wishing you a quick recovery 👏stay focused and all will get better sooner than later
Good news at last! All the best with the recovery, greetings from Poland!
Stay positive is the best healing progress!! - Nice to have to back in UA-cam Ben
i like your positive mind! wish u have faster recovery !!!
Great to see you smiling again ben & been positive for the coming weeks...Keep us all updated on your progress..
Good luck my friend I am in the same situation I am trying to be positive it's a pretty bad time hope you are getting better I am hoping in months to be alot stronger .
You'r gonna get proper upper body strengh 😊
Ha! I have zero to start with!!
... the harder you hit the ground, the higher you bounce . Get well soon xxx
So good to see the spirits up since your last video Ben, what a difference a few days can make!
Drunk and get stupid. Injured. You will get over it 😁
At least you can more readily self isolate and avoid Corona!!
Good to see that things improve stey by step. That´s the attitude. It will be gone in no time and it will be just a bad memory
Looking and sounding back to usual style, keep going 👍
Get well soon Ben - keep your head up - go hard on the physio !
Wow now i could have a fair chance at beating Ben in a race while he's on crutches lol
Wonderful to see you well on track to fully recovery, Ben!
So happy to see you up and moving about, Ben, well done! Well done to Sarah for being able to administer those needles so regularly, don't know if I would have the courage to do that! Kiki looks like she has adapted well to her job as a nurse as well. Wishing you a speedy recovery, what is the name of the podcast you were on? Cheers from Canada, Scott
Inside running podcast 🙌
Such a positive attitude Ben. You are an inspiration!
Great to see you’re on the mend, and with such a positive attitude 👍
You sleep in your hat...? 😜
Good to see you up and about. Two thumbs up!
