Oda's story as a mangaka explains the amount of old male mentor characters in One Piece as well as the amount of stubborn and old characters. Great video!
2:01 the fact that you included Ash with the anime heroic role models was really cool. The Pokémon anime often gets brushed to the side but man Ash meant so much to me as a kid. I thought he was so cool and strong and he probably had a pretty big influence on the person I became
Oda's early childhood accounts struck me a lot since i experienced the same things like winning contests and being praised, being corrected and all that. I think your video would help any budding creative out there. thanks.

When he said I don't have to work when I grew up, I felt that, cause he's still not working if he loves what he does. If you hate what you do, it's a job. If you love what you do, it's a career
I've been following One Piece for 12 years and it's definitely my favorite anime. This video was so interesting. I wonder how Oda feels now when fans call him a genius. Does he feel proud or does he think back to all the rejection and everything else he had to overcome to be where he is?
I am afraid that recent younger generation compare him to jjk author now. And the success of tokyo revenger made me shocked too. There is a change of taste in today's generation
One thing I'd like to get across with these videos, and something I hope more people come to realize, is that newer generations of mangakas take a lot of inspiration from what came before. Just as One Piece took a lot of inspiration from Dragon Ball, Jujutsu Kaisen takes a lot of inspiration from Bleach and Hunter x Hunter. Then the next generation will build off of that and so on. It's something to be mindful of when comparing an older series with a newer one.
