      Exactly, you would be correct, also, if the mast lights were exactly in line with the port side light AND exactly equally spaced

    The anchor scope question ignores the freeboard of the vessel.

      We use how much cable is in the water. It is an approximate figure. Different hull forms and windage also play a part in the evolution

    A question linked to the chart exercise: I would spontaneously answer the open sea is on the left of the chart, but I didn't find any evidence of it. Could you help with more information, please?

      Port hand buoys on your left (port side) when coming in from the sea

      @@xana6085 Port buoys are always port buoys. Only the red and green coloUr changes between IALA "A" and "B".
