    Thank you for being such an honest person and being real about yourself. So many people are so false. I was stunned about your having to use holiday days when you were sick, something we don’t have to do in the uk. I absolutely love your dandelion colour way and look forward to seeing which pattern you choose to do it justice with.

    First time watching you and loved it. I really enjoyed when you were talking about minimalism, I have never thought about it before and found it really interesting and could resonate with you about buying and wanting everything in my crafts.

    Thank you for the info on Farmers Daughter. I implemented a minimalist lifestyle also about four or five years ago and purged countless carloads of stuff I didn’t need. While some of the yarn subscriptions look really fun, I spent years getting rid of things I didn’t need and can’t justify bringing in more stuff when yarn is what I want. I signed up for the subscription and feel really good about it. Thank you!!!

      Hi Karen! I’m glad you feel good about your decision. I struggle with sharing acquisitions sometimes because I don’t want people to feel like I’m saying, “go buy this!”, but I know there are others who like to see what comes in. Here’s to making beautiful things!❤️

    When learning new things in your knitting journey, remember this: there are only 2 basic stitches in knitting. A knit stitch and a purl stitch. Everything else is just manipulating one or both of those stitches. Cabling is just rearranging a set of stitches. Most cables consist of either 4 or six stitches with 2 or more purls on either side (frame). The cable stitches are switched as follows... for 6 stitches, take the 1st 3 and place on cable needle (on hold) and you either hold them in the back (back cable) or you hold them in the front (front cable). You then knit the remaining 3 sts. Bring the cable needle into knitting position and knit those 3 off the cable needle. The 6 sts have now been twisted into there new position. You do this every so many rows according to the pattern (length of cable). You will love making them and discover just how easy and simple it is. They're addicting. Can't wait to see how you make out.

    Just found your podcast on my home page and wanted to look because I saw your take on the Battenberg blanket. I had to laugh because I’ve been toying with a mitered square blanket in crochet as well( I’m not a knitter). I like the larger squares for your Battenberg. So, time to put my thinking cap back on and consider larger squares for the Battenberg. Finally even though I don’t knit I really enjoyed your podcast all the way through including all the knitting projects. Sometimes it’s just nice to see different yarn worked up and to hear about new indie dyers that I may not have explored before. Thank you.

    I love the German short rows! I never did get the hang of the wrap and turns. I even use the German short rows in my sock heels because it gives me the best fit. Very Pink Knits has a great video tutorial on converting a pattern written with wraps and turns into German short rows.
    I’ve also learned through You Tube how to crochet granny squares. I’ve always loved the look for them and I had a lot of leftover minis. I ended up with 48 7-round granny squares, yarn held double with itself. I then ordered the Knitpicks Swish in DK and am now joining them all using the join-as-you-go method and loving it! Next time I’ll purchase the joining yarn first and then actually join as I go. I have seven squares left to join then make the border. I’m absolutely loving this project. I actually have the Batenburg pattern too and may start that next in a dk weight. For me, knitting is my passion but I’m loving the granny squares too!

    I feel every bit of your podcast! Being a mom is hard 🤪. And this year is the first year that I’ve been able to frog projects that are not bringing me joy! With that being said… I love a top down raglan… I feel like they fly off my needles… have you seen the ‘Look at my holes’ sweater by James N Watts?! It may be a good one for your daughter! The needle size is more comfortable and it’s on DK… I’ve heard it knits up quickly! Just a suggestion if you feel like checking it out! Can’t wait to see your update!❤

    New viewer and I love you’re energy 😊 Just jump into doing the cables, it’s one of those things that’s easier than it looks. How about doing a “Look at my holes” by James N Watts for your daughter in stead at least you won’t have to do sleeves 😅

    Love your podcast and how real you are about maintaining your boundaries and doing what works for you.
    I just retired but when I worked full time as a social worker until 2 months ago I also wanted to join so many KAL but never made it. Now that I just retired I might be able to but still don’t want to pressure myself.
    I just started my own podcast ( another dream I had) and feel you are already doing a lot more than most people do.
    I can’t wait to see all that you knit for your daughter’s birthday. Happy birthday to her.

    My jaw is on the floor from hearing you talk about the reasons for choosing a minimalist lifestyle 😮. I also moved aLOT when I was growing up. And when I say that I also have a tendency to over-consume it is the understatement of the century! But I’ve never connected the two! So much of what you described resonated with me! Thanks for the therapy session! 😜 Have you ever shared your sock recipe? Curious what your go~to methods are.

    Enjoying your podcast very much😊 This is just a thought regarding your daughters top…have you considered maybe looking for a crochet version. There might be something that’s similar to the knit one? I knit and crochet and sometimes find that crochet can be quicker. Good luck!

    Had to chuckle at hand fan for "hot flash". I totally get the privacy. I just saw a pod where this host confessed that she had to take time off due to divorce. She didn't want to tell all but she had put it all out there. So please continue to protect ur family. I used to live in Cleveland (moved from Tokyo). We stayed 4.5 years and moved to South. Never been back to OH. 😊 How long have u been knitting? Was sock knitting hard 4 u? Thanks for sharing

    You need to take vacation day when you are sick? Are you kidding me? I mean I know that in the US you only get 2 weeks of payed vacation, but I didn't realize that you have to take vacation days because you are sick😧

    • @ThePineCottage
      @ThePineCottage  Рік тому

      Hi Marina! It depends on the company you work for, but yes, this is how it works for me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

    • @colorjunkie
      @colorjunkie Рік тому

      Two weeks? You are not required to get ANY paid vacation in the US. Most jobs will give you some, though. In my experience- one week is standard, with no sick days. You have to be around for at least three years before that goes up to 8-10 days (some companies make you wait for five years for that increase).
