      Ryan ...but your body processes 50 calories of broccoli a lot different than 50 calories of vodka...no? In the calorie-in, calorie-out protocol, in theory, a normal person could consume 2000 calories of banana daiquiris a day and maintain a “healthy” weight.

      I'm feeling pretty good so far after just 8 days! Lost like 25% of my gut already. I'm also fasting bcuz I don't feel as hungry as I do when I eat carbs. Carbs feed bad bacteria & parasites 🪱 They send chemicals to your brain that force you to crave sugar & carbs. That's been my giant weakness!!

    I was diagnosed with degenerative joint disease and degenerative disc disease of the thoratic and lumbar spine. Also with sciatica, spondylosis and scoliosis. In part because I was morbidly obese and eating all the crap us Americans have gotten so used to eating over the years. I was not active working in a recording studio sitting for long hours and some times working to 3am and 4am or later. I was eating so much candy and sugary foods everyday, breads, pastas and flour tortillas galore. I literally felt like crap and got to the point I could barely walk because of the sicknesses and weight. I needed a way to lose weight and tried a lot of diets but because I could barely move I wasn’t losing any weight and always felt hungry. I got up to 425lbs and was depressed and couldn’t even work anymore because my hands and legs were numb and hurt not to mention my back that felt like it was literally breaking every time I stood. I started Keto and right away lost 15lbs of water weight and over 6 months continued to lose weight with little to no exercise. I got down to 345lbs and was feeling a lot better. Then I got off the wagon for a while. I got back up to 390lbs and decided I had to go back on about 3 months ago. I’m down to 359lbs and my goal is first to get under 300lbs. Then to get down to around 205lbs to 210lbs which at my height is perfect. With God’s help and some persistence I know I will reach my goal.

    I can tell you that Keto does really work. I’m 58 years old and struggled for all of my 50s trying to shed the weight and pains that went along with it and Ketogenic dieting has worked wonders for me. My pains now are mostly gone, I have more energy too and my doctor says my numbers have never been this good. I sleep better at night and wake up better each morning now, where before with all the carbs and sugar I was bringing in my body, I could barely function and always felt like my days were certainly short in number. Now after already dropping only 20 pounds I have a new lease on life. My goal weight is 200 lbs by January 13th which is my next doctor visit and I’m already down to 210lbs, so not far to go but I have to go through the holidays and see what happens there.

      Biggiiful But it actually is...Physicians have to a lot of nutrition and chemistry classes since they’re able to prescribe medication. Even undergraduate studies in the field of medicine take about 3 classes with the primary focus being nutrition and at least another 3 focusing on chemistry; the 2 go hand and hand. They’re no specialist but they are definitely well versed on the topic. Especially when it comes to something as simple as Keto. Your primary care Doctor should always be the first person you talk to about issues because than he or she can make the appropriate referral if need be.

      Robert Bullaro there are people who have been doing Keto for years and years and are 70+ years old right now.
      High carb diets aren’t for everyone, just like low carb diets are not for everyone.
      Low carb works for me because i don’t get bloated, I have no digestive issues, my acne cleared up dramatically, I have lost weight, I lost my water weight, depression gone, energy increased, etc. so many great things have happened to me while being on Keto.
      Now if I was eating carbs I would break out with acne, be fat and grumpy and I have no energy and no motivation to do anything.
      Carbs cause depression. They make me feel bloated and disgusting.
      You see? What’s good for others, may not be good for someone else ☺️👌🏼

    High fat is only bad when consumed with carbs and sugar!! I wish more people would express this..a lot of the current health science shows that carbs are the main contributor to inflammation within the body which is the main root of most illness and disease. And combined with high fat can cause heart disease! The carbs inflame the arteries which in turn cause cholesterol blockages. Remove the carbs and the cholesterol is free to transport as usual! I personally have experienced unbelievable physiological differences on keto..struggling with weight first and foremost as well as numerous skin and hair issues from bad diet..that all flipped on it's head after the first 3 weeks on strict keto..things I had dealt with for MULTIPLE years just vanishing in a mere few weeks..

My mom(a nurse) started shoving an 🥑 a day down my throat 14yrs ago when I was pregnant with twins, I use olive oil & my sides are veggies or I incorporate them into my casseroles.
    Life is too short to count calories & protein etc.

    The hardest part for me when I started Keto was the fat adaption phase and getting into full Ketosis. It took me a good 6 - 7 weeks to get fat adapted. Drink plenty of water, add pink Himalayan salt and consume a lot of the right veggies. Macro nutrients is 75%fat 20% protein and 5% carbs every day. Counting your calories is critical and is a must in order to do traditional Keto the right way.

    • @wellyforpm
      @wellyforpm 4 роки тому +1

      Counting calories is meaningless in keto as long as your ratios are met. And it takes 8-14 months to get "fat adapted" the keto flu period is not fat adaption. And use Celtic or sea salt. Celtic has 81 minerals, sea has 72 and Himalayan has 11. Still better than table salt, but not what your body needs on keto.

    I don't think carbs and sugar are the enemy. Oil has a lot of calories and the extreme case of keto would be to just drink olive oil all day, which is not sustainable. So you can have your pasta and bananas and chocolate, just space out your meals and eat when hungry. I snack on dark chocolate between and after meals. Replace rice with raw nuts or peanut butter or a vegetable soup and keep fat at about 30%. I've found that works for me and I lost 75 pounds so far as a 99% vegan.

  • @triton827
    @triton827 5 років тому +3

    I don't believe carbs are the enemy if you are eating good carbs. Eating junk processed foods are the enemy and over or under eating. Going vegan, carnivore, keto etc etc isn't gonna work for everyone. People need to find out what foods work for them individually. What I eat may not agree with another person's body. That's why I hate blanket statements people will say like everyone should go vegan or keto etc, that's very bad advice. Nutrition should be personalized.

    Back in the 90s this was called the “South Beach Diet” aka Adkins diet . The term Keto comes from the medical Ketosis. Ketosis is a metabolic state in which fat provides most of the fuel for the body. It occurs when there is limited access to glucose, which is the preferred fuel source for many cells in the body. This isn’t a breakthrough, people just want to find the “next best thing”

    • @helenholt1161
      @helenholt1161 4 роки тому +3

      Incorrect. This is a HIGH FAT diet. The Atkins diet and South Beach diet are high protein. The difference is that high amounts of protein can raise your glucose levels and your need for insulin. Fat does not do that.
      Now if your sole goal is weight loss both types of diet are equally good. But if you are tackling other health issues tbe keto diet may be a better choice.

    • @MrTaytersDeep
      @MrTaytersDeep 4 роки тому

      Also wrong on Glucose being the preferred fuel source of the body and cells! If ketones are present, they are used first, the body runs better on them with less waste!

    Doctors are being taught about this people. The problem is that the studies on this diet are less than a century old which means there is absolutely no scientific research on the long term effects of this diet. That is why 99% of doctors won't suggest this diet long term. They will suggest it for short term weight loss or for those with type 2 diabetes or epilepsy. The short term research suggests that fat is a cleaner energy source and that using fat as your main source of energy more than doubles your bodies ability to actually utilize fat. After 6-8 weeks on the diet your body becomes fat adapted which means your body becomes more efficient at using fat even if you start eating carbs again.
