this is late but to summarize, Hongki had to go on a show where he needs to bring along someone he's close with, however he couldn't find anyone in time I think (?) so a friend of his friend asked Siyoon to come onto the show with him. They basically had to pretend they knew eachother from way back and they asked eachother a bunch of questions before filming to get to know eachother for the show but I think it was hard for them to match their answers. Then a few years later Siyoon hit big after his drama and sometimes was asked if he was close to Hongki because they had appeared together before. Basically they met again at an award show and it was awkward because they're not close/in touch but the public thinks they know each other well - so Hongki said sorry for making it seem that way due to the lie and he said he hoped he would get closer to Siyoon too.
