There are actually six of them (not five) being operated by Cubana. Beautiful aircraft. That engine is one of the few modern turbofans with absolutely no input from the west. You have to give Ukraine credit - they make superior aviation products. Lovely video.
Can you give some feedback, how was the feeling during the flight? Are the engines very noisy? Of course, in comparison with modern Boeing and Airbus. I'm from Ukraine, but never had a chance to flight on an148 or an158. Thanks in advance.
These new An-158s are really great planes! A bit smaller than standard passenger planes and cheaper to operate but packed with ultra modern tech. It's great that you can optionally use the stairs to board & depart instead of a connection, that should allow it to land at smaller air ports. All budget airlines should pick up this plane to make discount tickets more profitable imo.
Not popular but honestly from my humble opinion, the design of the an 158 makes the aircraft looks very beautiful. And if there was a passenger version of the An 178, it would have been the most beautiful airplane for me.
Looks like a nice aircraft. As an aviation enthusiast though, I wish that their Tu-154 and Il-62 were still in use. Too bad that Cubana seems to have stopped flying them.
As much as I like our American jets, I believe this and the Super Jet 100 could have sold well in the US if not for politics and the availability of parts and service issues. This would have been great on smaller unimproved airports and airstrips in the US. I always enjoyed flying on the BAE 146 with PSA in California in the 80s.
1) Crazy taxi run. Nearly 4 mins at a pretty high rate of speed. 2) I personally would've expected a shorter take-off roll (after he finally applied full throttle) given the full leading-edge slats and flaps. 3) thanks for the "everybody pees on the seat" shot...
19:00 How hard it is to understand the instruction of "PLEASE REMAIN SEATED AND SEATBELT FASTEN ON UNTIL FASTEN SEATBELT LIGHTS ARE TURNED OFF" GEEZ!!!
This is what the Avro RJ was supposed to be!!! Sadly the Avro design team at the last moment changed the design to a "standard" low wing slung under pod engine layout. It ruined the whole ethos of what the 146 was - a short/medium range special performance type that could land in narrow confined and difficult to get to airports. It wasted time that Avro didn't have and sadly they were forced to set out with just an upgrade of the 146...The reaction by potential customers was one of total dismay...They were look forward to the twin jet. Antonov picked up the design grab in the aftermath of Avro division being wound up along with a couple of other minor players.
It is because of landing gear from the military aviation (capable to land on grass) and exceptionally rigid fuselage. Not the lightest one, but a heavy duty bird.
Michel Tangy no this aircraft is further development of An-70.. Got nothing in common with bea 146. 146 use fowler flap, this use double slotted flaps configuration.
Antonov is Ukranian-Russian. After USSR broke up the company became a joint stock, sort of Airbus! So don't bullshit here! And after Poroshenko's sanctions Antonov has declared bankrupt!!! And for all the world Ukraine is Russia same as Taiwan is China! Tell me ten differences between a Moscow born Russian and Kiev born Russian?!
What a cute regional jet. I can't believe how quiet and clean those engines burn. Nice vid!

TheMidasMD a rare opportunity to watch the reverse thrust mode in action right from your seat )
dear friend. This aircraft was built in Russia. In The City Of Voronezh.
usually you think of antonov as old, scary russian cans but I was genuinely impressed with this plane

Engine noise is soo quiet.. Pretty smooth sound IMO..

What a cutie! Such a long, and fast taxi way...wow, kept thinking it was the take off
Spectacular video! Quite different from the commercial airliners I watch but the Antonov An-158 seems like an awesome aircraft!
I like the unique look of Antonovs. It's almost like the rest of the plane is hanging from the wings.
Trying to think, when was the last time I had a paper boarding pass, handwritten, with a little sticker showing my seat. Probably 1979 or so.
my country!! nice vídeo!!!
que bonito suena la turbina, serena y bastante silenciosa

engines are not noisy like the airbus
lol that’s Ukrainian engines)))
Lindo avião!!! Grande enflexamento de asa e motores de empuxo forte. Reversores do tipo cascade.
Epic video mate! Liked!
Muchos recuerdos, muchas veces realice ese itinerario
2021. Not a single An-158 flies around the world.
Great video!
For awhile there I wasn't sure if he was taxiing or taking off, ha. Enjoyed the vid, thx for posting it ;-)
This is a Ukranian made plain
Great video! It looks like extremely fast taxiing on departure)))
Very nice flight with a very nice aircraft !!! ;-)
Good video
Very very nice video Thank you..
So cool you have to put on Siberian outdoor clothes to survive the experience without hypothermia.

Nice Gulfstream at 5:30. I wonder who that belongs to.
Buena aeronave, practica y versatil...
Q Bello vídeo !! Algún día iré a Cuba pura vida
the an 158 is the bae 146 with 2 engine
Ukrainian aviation is all the way!
They don`t mess around with taxi speeds, this must be the Russian equivalent of a RJ or BAE146, nice vid
UKrainian ...

What was the date that you filmed this?
¿cuál habria sido mejor compra para cuba como jet regional este avion o el sukhou supet jet 100?
todos ,incluso tienen airbus too
😍😍😍😍👊👊how long was the flight?
Looks like a 146 with 2 engines.
that true but this desing is mutch smoother :)
superb airplane
Made in Ukraine
Why there is no flight meals on Cubana, if there is, why not show it 🙄🙄🙄
subbed :D
thought it was a 146 to start, maybe they borrowed the drawings from BAE
Not bad
Uh... cruising speed of 100km/hr lol 1:52. Noted he also rolled a bit before full spool up and the seat belt sign on with people up haha
must be wrong cruising speed 100 km/h....mmmm....i dont think so
Hasta donde tengo entendido Antonov es ruso y el tiempos de la URSS trasladó sus oficinas a Kiev por eso ahora se dice que es ucraniano.
Omg Yasss
🇺🇦
It's almost 1 hour and 45 Minutes
Ótimo!
Ukrainian bird (^‿^)
Funny how this ended up being arguably the worst airliner in recent history
this is so rare to see Cuba!!!!!!!!! after Communism :D
What a beautiful country im happy that i was able to record this for you ;)
First yo
Cubana de Aviación comprando Aviones Ucranianos.....El Kremlin y Putin no estaran muy contentos con esto..... :)
Russian copy of BAe 146 / AVRO RJ-100
Ukrainian, but not a copy at all
not copy, further development of AN-24 (from 60's)
Michel Tangy no this aircraft is further development of An-70.. Got nothing in common with bea 146. 146 use fowler flap, this use double slotted flaps configuration.
