Pakistan registered a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Ireland in second T20I on Sunday, to level the three-match series by 1-1.
The match saw Babar Azam's side exhibiting skill to chase down Ireland's total of 193 with more than three overs to spare. Speaking in the post-match presentation, Babar expressed relief and attributed the victory to the exceptional performance of his batsmen.
"It's a relief. All the credit to the batsmen for the way they played. After the bowling innings, we decided we will chase it in 18-19 overs. We utilized the powerplay and maintained momentum despite losing 2 wickets," Babar said.
Babar, particularly commended the performance of Fakhar Zaman, highlighting his ability to adapt to the match situation with a positive intent.
"Fakhar is very experienced and played according to the situation which demanded positive intent. It's a good side, we got positives in this match and will look to give 100% in the next match. Very excited to see Pakistan fans, it was jam-packed, enjoyed the vibe and hope families will come to support us in the next match," he further added.
Reflecting on Pakistan's bowling performance, Babar acknowledged areas for improvement, particularly in finishing the innings.
"We didn't bowl well - second half we were good but we didn't finish well. We wanted to restrict them to 170-180, a par score, but credit to the Ireland batsmen for how they played in the last 3 overs," he concluded.
It is worth noting that this win also marked a significant achievement for Pakistan's captain, as it constituted his record-breaking 45th T20I win.
The third and final game of the series will be played in Dublin on Tuesday.
