And then Niall started talking.🥺 And even at the end, when interviewer said “hopefully we will see you after 2 years” only Louis said “yes, you will.” and Louis was the only one who even tweeted “promise” He was the only one who really thought 1D would come back after 18 months, and that thing really kills me.
I'm a newer One Direction fan...my question is, did people actually believe it would be a hiatus? I can't imagine it not having been obvious that they were breaking up? 1. There is no need to announce a formal hiatus, just stop doing interviews and shows for a little while and say you're busy working on the next album or something like that and 2. With Zayn having just left and embarking on a solo career, did fans actually think these boys wouldn't do the same?

For One Direction they did one album and one tour per year for 5 years, so an announcement didn't seem that weird for them, because they never really stopped. So, it made sense to take a "break" for some time for them even without breaking up. So yeah, there were a lot of suspicions and for example I knew deep down, but at the same time, we still had a lot of hope, definitely

Louis never wanted to take a break. He was upset about it, but still respected his band members' decision. I feel like only him and Liam (😢) wanted to make a comeback. What's so strange about that? I usually asked my bosses for a day of my holidays or to move my rostered day off so that I could have my birthday off. Most times it was fine, sometimes not depending on the workload.

nahhh I don't think anyone of them could predict if their solo career will be successful, you never really know with those things. and harry's career really blew up during pandemic so it wasn't that obvious in the beginning. imo if anything held louis back is his personal tragedies more than anything else.

Louis definitely struggled to see himself as a solo artist and held on to the band getting back together, I think until after it became clear he was the only one left. I can’t say for sure whether he would’ve done solo stuff sooner had it been apparent that 1D weren’t just ‘taking a break’ but it was before his mom and sister passed that he started doing solo music, but only after it was clear everyone else were truly going their own ways. I get the feeling they knew it was the end and they were not getting back together and just didn't want to jeopardise things with the fans by saying it outright. At the time, a break of a year or two could have ended their careers had they not gone on and done solo stuff. There was no guarantee that fans being 2 years older wouldn't have moved on to someone else.

In 2014 two of them literally went on vacation without other boys. The had the van in which others were not allowed to hang out. In the meantime, Harry has been the closest to Niall and not that close with others in the band since 2013. The only time when Harry and Zayn were really a thing was in 2012 when there was a trio with Louis uniting them. Then Harry and Louis grew apart and that was it for his close friendship with Zayn.
2 - Your whole argument is built on "they weren’t telling the truth on these ten occasions they spoke about it, just look at them and you’ll see truth" which is just conspirological bs I’m not interested in digging. Just a reminder what was actually said by them: Z said he had no idea he had an eating disorder whilst in the band, he left because he wanted to pursue solo career, didn’t like what 1d was making or what it represented. He also did not maintain any relationship with Harry after the band and considers Niall his favorite. Harry said he had no idea about Zayn’s eating disorder, didn’t know Zayn disliked the band, and that he thinks his departure was unprofessional.
I don’t really care about Zayn or his voice btw. Harry did just great replacing him on most of the bridges and it was good to see Louis and Niall having more solos.

I really hope that any boyband to never ever form again! Its just fucking brutal for the members of a Band and its extremely die heart fanbase! Why not stick to the Band and not venture of. What is the need when there are thousands of Solo Artists in this world any way! Why leave something that created you and gave you fame? Such a shame that they used One Direction and their Fan Base for 5 Years and left it all behind without any permanent announcement! The could have changed rhe legacy for Boy Bands by sticking to it together through thick and thin. Basically they proved all the media right who used to ask them in the start that they might stay together for less than 5 Years. Its a shame that yet again another group, it's music and its fanbase died in the dust. They would be coming back in 20 Years, old and lost, without any charm left as the fan base would be so tired and probably forgotten them . Lets pray that never eve any boy bands are formed!

I really hope One Direction has a 2025 reunion concert in honor of Liam. I feel like if Harry comes back to music, then the reunion concert is pretty likely. At least I hope. If not, it can happen in another lifetime, which I think we'd be able to have Liam in the concert in that case.
