i've watched the lillabjorn interview like 100 times! lol i hope yall could have a follow up interview one day, because she keeps on coming up with such amazing crochet designs, she is so creative and innovative!
I'm over here in my corner catching up on back episodes, and I'm quietly, wonderfully amazed at the number of people in the knitting world who also have backgrounds in music! (I also originally studied and trained for the Opera, but now, I'm a knit and crochet designer as well, because oh yes, theatre and opera are amazing, but the professional opportunities just are so challenging to find! )
I don't comment often as I should but I just want to say that I always appreciate when you talk about crochet. And I love how opened minded you are about it. so Thank you so much I really appreciate all that you offer in the fiber community!
@@brittarnhildsverden Yes, I chose Swedish words, because I like Sweden very much, and I've been there many times. In different parts. And I also studied Swedish :)
@@lillabjorncrochet6106 I also love Sweden. I am Norwegian, living in Trondheim, Norway. Our oldest son lives in Stockholm, one of the most beautiful cities I know :-) By the way, I love your work. I do mostly knitting, but after watching today's episode of Fruity Knitting I was inspired to start a new crochet project. (By the way, our Stockholm son loves to travel to all the East European and former Soviet Union countries. Minst and Kiev are among his many favourite places to go.)
That is the most beautiful aria I`ve heard in a long time. It made me cry. Thank you so much for interviewing Tatsijana. Her works and voice are wonderful! I remember the Forellenhof. :-) The first time it aired was 3 days after my birthday, on the 29th of September 1965. :-) So awesome that the place still exists and has been kept alive all these years. I love the extreme knitting of Andrew this time, haha. He sits there just like some water nymph out of an old German legend. :-D
Your hat mimics the blue of the Caribbean Sea. The dark blue looks like floating sea weed and the purplish colors in the variegation look like anemones. it's a great looking hat! As a crocheter I want to thank you for featuring an innovative crochet designer. Absolutely loved it!!
The music was fantastic. The show was very stimulating. The two of you compliments each other so well. It is such a pleasure to watch. Thank you . I loved ever segment .
My name is Joan, and I'm using my husband's UA-cam connection. I have recently made the same Woolly Wormhead cap, and like you Andrea, had big problems with the peak at first. My husband also helped me with that, and we used craft plastic. I also found putting the plastic into the knitting very difficult, so I used a simple method in the end. When I finished knitting the peak, I then put in the plastic like putting a letter in an envelope. It was then easy to enclose the plastic by knitting together the front and back sections in the same way you would put in a tuck or a hem on a knitted garment. The finished cap is stunning and everyone admires it so well worth the effort. Your daughter will look fabulous in hers! Thank you both for your podcasts. They are so interesting, you are great! 😀❤️
After watching this episode again I went to Tatiana’s Ravelry store and bought the 3 sweater patterns. (Forgot about the discount 😱). I have crocheted for 40 years and may try one of these. A huge project, but doable. Thank you for your wonderful productions. I am a classical music lover so the aria was a breath of fresh air to hear. ❤️
Andrew, so glad you are able to join your lovely wife full time. Your smile is so contagious. I always leave the viewing of Fruity Knitting with a smile. I lived in Germany for 8 years. Last there in 2001. Now living in Santa FE NM. When you extreme knit, especially in Germany, it brings back good memories.
It was so nice to hear the Rusalka's aria again, I don't know which I enjoyed more: the knitting and crochet or the music. It was one of the first arias I sang, the singer here is so wonderful to listen to. It brings back many fond memories.
I don't usually comment because every episode is so professionally produced, so full of interesting content, so visually stunning, and accompanied by such varied and beautiful music, that I just cannot find the words to express my appreciation. Thank you doesn't seem to cover it somehow. And that aria! Brought tears to me eyes.
I run out of superlatives for your show! Wonderful again. Loved it all but especially Lilla Bjorn (sorry if I misspelled first name). Such exciting crochet!
I love Tatsiana and I have several of her patterns both free and purchased ones. Excellent patterns. Error Free! For such intricate and labored details, to find patterns without errors is fantastic. I also love the business name LillaBjörn: Little Bear. How unique is that! Lovely lady and so talented like yourself. Thank you so much for having her in your program. There is another crochet designer that has some incredible intricate designs: Jen Tyler, from South Africa. HooksnTales is her Ravelry name. Check her designs just for fun. There are some fascinating crochet designers that design garments that are lovely, flowing and look great too. Tunisian Crochet is one technique used, and, it simulates knitting. Kim Guzman is a garment designers who has some Tunisian garment patterns.
I loved this episode because I process, meaning I buy lots of whole fleeces from different Shepard’s, skirt, wash, dry, card, comb or flick the locks to spin, ply into yarn that will be used to knit or weave with.
Thank you for the blast from the past. "Forellenhof" I grew up watching German TV, we lived at the German border (my grandmas farm was across the street from the border patrol) most of the time the only TV we could watch was German.
Another interesting episode, thank you both. Glad to hear that Andrew will soon be full time to help you out Andrea. Great quality production every time. Julia x
The show gets better with every episode! I'm seeing more and more mention of Fruity Knitting on instagram and facebook, and it makes me so happy to see you guys building a bigger viewership.
I loved this episode. Tatiana's crochet is spectacular. I look forward to crocheting one of her pieces soon. And I found the segment on the Maruschka Farms equally interesting in a totally different way. Each segment offered a thorough exploration and overview for all of us. And the rest of the program was also great - offering a high quality, professional production,. Andrea, you are so beautiful and especially lovely in your Wooly Wormhead hat. Many thanks for a top podcast. This was one of the best. May you continue to forge ahead in the future with more stellar interviews and studies in the fascinating world of the fiber arts.
Oh you were totally right Andrea, that was beautiful, beautiful music, Loved the crochet artist her work is fascinating and exciting. Loved the hat, it suits you.
I so look forward to your videos....so packed full of such interesting features....makes me so happy......beautiful singing....excellent editing....well done......loved the crochet segment. ❤❤🐨🐨
What a wonderful episode. Love the crochet and will definitely check it out. The hat looks wonderful on you. I need to get to work. The aria was incredible, thank you. After last episode I went out and purchased Yarnitecture, what a great book.
What a wonderful dive into crochet. I'm intrigued by her linen stitch and overlay techniques...something new to challenge me. Andrew, you are one smart "wuss"; to me knowing when to turn to the expert is a brilliant skill. Andrea I love the colour of your hat and your traumatizing efforts with the Camden Cap. I knew right away that a water bottle would defeat me so went straight to that fabric Andrew found for you (once again congrats Andrew). I found it worked perfectly for me although picking up those stitches was tough. Thank you for the beautiful Extreme Knitting section. It was so peaceful, and then the music at the end, sigh, exquisite. Thank you!
I love Fruity Knitting as you have taken the subject of knitting and fiber arts to a higher level of presentation and education. Crochet always evokes granny squares and was never tempted to try it. The simple crochet for an occasional knitting project is my aesthetic limit. Your guest almost budged me from my position.
Thanks for this episode. I can't believe how great the crochet looked,I'm going to give it a go,I can crochet but this was another level, very clever 🙂 Oh and the aria is beautiful just as you said 💐🤗
Loving the content of your episodes. Just an observation.... Andrea, recently, you exude the joy of knowing that Andrew will be joining you full-time! I just moved to the Philadelphia area from Central Pennsylvania and am sure that I have driven by Marushka Farms sometime in the 30 years I lived there. Another wonderful episode!
After seeing the interview with lillabjörn, this is the first time I want to crochet something beside cloths and potholders!! Not that I dislike crochet, but the ingenuity and drapiness is just stunning !!!
The Dutch yarncompany Tatsjiana is talking about is called Scheepjes (translating “little ships” in English). My friend told me that Scheepjes.com is also the Dutch representative of the Icelandic yarn Lettlopi. I was fascinated by the crocheted sweaters Tatsjiana showed. Didn’t think it possible with crochet.
nice episode...like the concept of your program will look gladly for other episodes. And again.. Tatsiana, wonderful person and creator... wearing a brand new wonderful project..can't wait to see it released :)
Love meeting the shepherdess , such dedication. Inspiring episode as always, loved your hat ! Happy Anniversary, it is lovely around Baden-Baden. Andrew I don't think you need an excuse with everything you have on the go at the moment..lol Have a wonderful two weeks, enjoy your projects !
I got the spirit of vulcano wrap set here, she´s right it´s challenging. havent touched it for weeks xD the colorwork she was showing is pretty intimidating and you have to pay attention while doing it ^^ but seeing the interview with the designer is really sweet :) it inspires me to pick it up again. Cant wait to see it growing, it really is a pretty pattern. the different yarns is so clever.
For a shade / brim of a hat (43:21) you can use cheap plastic placemats from the Euro Shop. Of course you could use any kind of Buckram too, which has the added benefit of being heat proof. I've used a placemat to stabilize a sewing-notions bag we had to design and make after the first semester in Dressmaker School (Berufsschule für Schneider).
Wow, what an inspiring episode. I only dream of making a granny square pattern I got free way back when I was 18. Being terrified of crochet, alas it still lingers in my stash of kitting patterns. I think I better learn before I leave this planet.
Larysa Radewych Oh please don't be terrified of crocheting, it really isn't difficult at all. It amounts to some basic stitches such as single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), treble crochet(trc) & so on, all are easy to do. All you do is use those basic stitches in different combinations. There's a real flow to crocheting. You'll love it, I really encourage you to give it a try. A granny square is a good place to start.
Thank you for the encouraging words, I can crochet single and I understand double but I look at a granny sparred and freak out. Adding colour and getting it square. Oh my! Perhaps I'll give it a go after I finish the baby blanket I am knitting.
I think the what's your excuse should be "I'm a wonderful husband and father who looked for plastic to put in the cap my wife is knitting for my daughter, so I didn't have time to knit :) "
Hi. My husband makes leather caps. He cuts a piece out of a thin 5 liter plastic bucket for the peak. If you use the right size bucket the shape is perfect and it is easy to work with - you just cut it with scissors.
I'm classically trained singer (I dont sing opera anymore though I did study it, I like to belt!) and I'm married to a programmer and I knit and crochet too!
You two would enjoy a place called Avrona in the eastern Swiss mountains, a 400 year old farmhouse inn with loads of hiking... the village has about 5 houses. Huge recommendation!!

Super!
If it counts for anything, I actually like the color of your Katara hat more than the one in the photo.
My Paternal ancestors came to America from Baden-Wurtenburg. Is that the same area?
Don’t tell Wooly, but I like your color combination better. What is the color way for the Gentleman’s dk that you use Different?
