You should do a plant tour sometime. I'd like to see your plant collection. Love the informational videos though!

thank you so much!! so very helpful. I just got inundated with fungus gnats and its annoying. I took in a plant that was dying to foster it, and I think it was the culprit. none of my plants had gnats before I took it in. so, now having to deal w/them. I got the sticky stuff, but that does not get rid of them, just catches some, not all. so, will def. use your tips. thanks again!

Ty !!

Thanks for this information! What about cinnamon. The plant dealer told me to put cinnamon on top of soil and it will kill fungus gnats.

I did that to my suffering indoor Banana plant and it helped,.but before that I changed the soil complete and I sprayed the leaves with Baking Soda solution. That seemed to help

That is a great idea :-) I will make a video on the uses of Hydrogen peroxide for you guys. I have also heard wonders about nematodes, thanks so much for sharing !

@@PlantsandLucia Great, I'm looking forward to that - thank you! In all the many possible ways to treat fungus gnats (except H2O2 - never heard of this use before, and it makes so much sense to me!) offered in www or books, only the nematodes really work perfectly. They are not cheap, but if you need a quick solution for small slow growing seedlings, they are priceless!

Can I use H2O2 on seedlings?
I have seedlings of nepenthes madagascariensis and I have spotted 1 larvae, and I am worried, because last time these larvaes eradicated all of my seedlings

What do you do if every time you use hydrogen peroxide, you see MORE gnats? The fungus gnats in my soil just swim in the stuff.

I would probably repot the plant with new soil or just start over... not an expert but that's what I would do...

Thank you for this! Would this work for whiteflies as well?

    • @elli2193
      @elli2193 2 роки тому

No, because whiteflies lay their eggs directly on the leaves of the plants. H2O2 will not be absorbed from the plant, it standalone decomposes fast after the watering (it happens visible with bubbling) and so does not stay in the potting mix. That's why you have to water again and again with H2O2 until the pest is gone.
You may try to spray the leaves of your plant with this mixture to have an effect on whiteflies.
But it is better to order mites (Amblydromalus limonicus) to solve your whitefly infestation.

if you soak mosquito bits in water ... that water will 100% kill them in soil too

Sticky traps should not be used as it also traps and kills other benificial insects.
