Tiffany, you are gorgeous and a big inspiration for me. You have no idea how much courage you give me to follow my dream of becoming a concert pianist, even if I don't always feel able to practice, but I always remember you and your ambition, you helped me a lot in these bad times. Thank you!
That is so true . Bring emotions and you ll get a golden buzzer . Sure to the purists it s better if you dont make mistake(s) but ,eh eh , they are a minority !!!!!
They look exactly like my mom and my grandma whenever I play Scott joplin pieces lol. And I usually tend to mess up because I couldn’t help but laugh seeing how adorable they are hahaha😂
Dear Tiffany! I admire You very much - I am already 77 years old and in my youth I also played the piano (but only amateurishly), so I can appreciate Your extraordinary talent and mastery. I'm rooting for you and I wish you many more successes! ❤
You are an absolutely amazing artist and together with Elisabeth Fuchs who is an amazing artist in her own right - crafting and melding different colours of music. Awesome.
Tiffany, I don't believe you know that you are actually loved out here. Your humility, and the beauty you bring to our world, cannot be expressed in words. Thank you, thank you! I wish you strength and happiness every day that you live! Elliott in Manhattan
16:23 Elisabeth: What you do with the piano is you have such wonderful touch and sounds, and I just wanted to have this with Brahms...and I wanted to have really magic (unsaid: that's why I wanted you to play it, Tiffany). She definitely picked the right person. 😉 😎
EVERY pianist says "I wish I played better" after the concert. Accept it. I hope you heard the conductor. She chose you because of the colors and expression you bring to a piece. That, these Brahms concertos need this to balance all the bigness in them.
I just want to stress what others already have observed: The enthusiasm of Elisabeth Fuchs in booking you for the Brahms concerto. And she is so right. You definitely are not a "soloist-only".
Brahms always reminds me of Star Trek (TOS). The episode where Spock picks up a piece of sheet music (from a piano?) and tells Kirk something like: "Captain, this is a hitherto unknown piece, written on modern paper, with modern implements - in Brahms' own hand - which I recognize." Being set a few centuries in *our* future, the implication is that Brahms is not (originally) of this world - a superhuman composer. To my ears, Tiffany, you are a superhuman performer. I have loved the piano all my life; I wish I could do a tenth what you can with the instrument. I think the key might just be that you take your own advice: "Keep striving." And it sure does show. This was a wonderful collaboration, with a wonderful result; you (and the orchestra) brought a lot of people a lot of joy. Bless you! Fred
Hey Tiffany, I just wanted to thank you, for making such incredible music, giving us extraordinary insights, being approachable and lovely and what is most important to me, honest. Your talk about your emotional connection to this piece, how it has somehow lived along with you and how you want to do all of that justice just felt so real and I don't know if I could have been this open. It's made me realize how even soloists whose level I won't ever reach probably still have a very similar relation to and love for music as I have. Thank you so much and I hope that I'll be able to hear you live someday as well!
Hi Tiffany! I'm Randy and I'm 76 years old. I'm a new subscriber but I've been watching your vlogs and your performances for some time now. I used to be a classical pianist in another lifetime. I haven't played for years because of arthritis. I think you're a wonderful pianist. You mentioned that the little mistake you made at the beginning didn't sound as bad on the recording as you thought it would. There's a reason for that. At the time you're playing, it seems worse because besides hearing the wrong notes you also feel the mistakes physically. Your fingers have memorized a pattern, and when you hit wrong notes it messes up that pattern and you feel it. Sometimes it's almost worse than the hearing part. When you listen to the recording, that physical element isn't there. Am I making sense? And remember, the audience doesn't have that physical element either. I love your playing and you have a wonderful talent for vlogging! What I mean is you have a way of making the listener feel like you're talking just to them. You have a sweet, gentle soul and you bring a little bit of sunshine into an old man's life. Thank you!
Hi Randy, thank you for your kind words. Yes, I understand what you mean. Never really analyzed the phenomenon, thank you. Though I wouldn't say the physical element when hearing is entirely gone, just less...
Your performance was according to the orchestra conductor "AWESOME" (no doubts about that), congrats! Let me remind you that little mistakes are your friends, not your enemies, nobody can grow without them!
Don’t stop doing concertos! BTW I am a teacher and have my students to listen to your recordings as models for their own performances. Thank you, Maestra!
Every time I hear you play I am impressed with the beauty of the sound you produce. A combination of your technique and touch. Whether it is Horowitz or Van Cliburn, it all boils down to touch. I have been listening to the great pianists for 50 years. You produce as good a sound as anyone. I think most people who have followed you would say you have a friendly and very likable personality. So be kind to yourself, keep striving…you already have the world class sound in your fingertips.
Wow, your after talk with Frau Fuchs was soo heart-moving! This is what I love so much about music and the whole action around. She really did the right thing to invite you, it was ingenious.
I think it is also because you are answering to the orchestra in such an intense and unique way, all that new chemistry, and it works great also for Mr.Brahms who looks down from the heavens and sure enjoyed :)
Hey Tiffany, you deserve to give yourself a break, it was your first live concert, with an orchestra, after a long time. Moreover you played first Brahms Concerto, a piece which many professional, succesful pianists avoid well into their careers. You are an amazing pianist, clap yourself on the back, in a few years time when after you preform it many times to come, you’ll think about this moment and realize how wonderful and important it was. Never feel ashamed of your emotions. Proud of you ❤️
Tiffany, you are such an amazing communicator, verbally, emotionally & musically. I'm not a musician but I can fully understand how you are an inspiration to so many. You are so open and honest, sharing your feelings as you practice, rehearse & perform. Your playing is beautiful and sensitive which obviously reflects yourself as a person. I wish you much success for the future.
It's WONDERFUL to hear your state of mind at the piano. You are EVERYTHING a pianist should be. Your love of music before ego shines above all else. To hear your observations about your playing and different pianos is FASCINATING. Thank you.🌺🌺
I get the self-critiquing. It's like a tick most of us musicians have. But if you did the best you could do (and you always excel), then that is more than enough. I predict they'll have you back!
@@paulrevelli I know, but engineers like me would call that "well within acceptable tolerances". But not artists! And, yes, I did used to play an instrument (alto saxophone, in my case).
Being self-critical comes with the territory, as you know I'm sure, but you can take encouragement from the fact that Elisabeth Fuchs was impressed with how you did, and admires your approach to playing. It seems like a good time was had by all. I hope you can enjoy the positive feedback and not be too tough on yourself.
Congratulations on the concert. I'm pleasantly surprised with your honesty about missing the three notes. Don't beat yourself up too hard. Making mistakes is part of being human. But this doesn't stop us from striving for perfection. You have a beautiful character behind your beautiful face and play. Thank you for sharing part of yourself with us.
7:37 The thing that i like about the pretty part on the 1st Movement is that there is this intense series of octaves and then suddenly it releases, and there is this feeling of being free like you're in the sky. Hearing you play it is even more satisfying.
Thank you! I've been struggling a lot last few months if I should keep piano playing just as a hobby or continue to higher level. These your last two videos made me realize that I really want to keep playing and learning and maybe one day I'll have a opportunity to play with an orchestra!
Tiffany, I wish you lots of confidence for your future as a concert pianist! I think for your quite young age you have already achieved lot. And I don't only mean your concerts and your playing, which sounds in my view very unique (and that is especially hard nowadays, when there are so many good pianists) I also mean that you have introduced many people to the wonderful world of classical music, at least I can say that of myself. There was a lot of music of different composers like Schumann, Scarlatti, Haydn... that I didn't have an interest in, but through your work on UA-cam I was able to broaden my Horizont and discover new directions and passion in this kind of music.
Thank you for all that you do for us. You are an inspiration to those of us who are just starting to learn to play piano, and those who just love the music. These videos are priceless. You come across as very honest, genuine, and real. You have taught us so much via these videos and I am thankful to have found your channel a couple of months ago. Thank you!
Tiffany my dear, you did wonderful! As a young pianist I feel very proud and inspired by the way you dealt with these breathtaking emotions Brahms triggers... don't beat yourself up for being authentic in your playing and its slight blemishes, it comes from your ability to be receptive to such deep and meaningful backgrounds. Keep striving 🎹🎶
Hi Tiffany, Again, I thank you for sharing your time with us. It’s always so incredibly fascinating when you take us with you behind the scenes. Speaking for myself, this concerto is so formidable, both technically and emotionally. A tour de force of emotional energies that are hard to keep under control. That you are willing and able deal with them is so courageous and awesome! Your music 🎼, oh my, how the tears flow.
I listened to the music segments many times in your video. Really looking forward to the whole piece. Your interpretation is amazing. Indeed your opening passages are like waves instead of being flat. You did better than many recordings that I ever heard.
I have been watching your blog so much these days. I will put your practice piece while I try to focus on my assignment. I love all of your videos... Thank you for doing this, sharing your life with us. That said, You are always sooo critic to yourself. I wish you could just enjoy the music!!!! Like so many of your amazing friends keep telling you, you are awesome! Enjoy the music!!!!
Tiffany, you are amazing. Just amazing! Thank you so much for everything you do. You have helped so many in so many different ways, including me, and your videos are always so inspiring and thoughtful. I wish I could put into words how much I appreciate the hard work you put into your playing and channel, but I don't think it's even possible! I wish you the best of health :)
This vlog and your honesty is so beautiful. It is lovely to vicariously feel the excitement of travel and hotels and also be reminded of the fun and inspiring times of playing in orchestra.
Thank you Tiffany for this wonderful vlog. Thank also to Elisabeth who was so enthusiastic and friendly with you. Looking forward to your next collaboration and I wish to be there in person. I send you my love.
Got my first solo recital in August and I'm excited to be performing to people again yet nervous at the same time! Congratulations on your concert Tiffany! Can't wait until the world goes back to normal so that concerts can be a normal thing again!
I admire your dedication to your "work". I'm sure you did very well and the audience didn't even notice the litte fumble, or at least forgot about it by the end of the concert. Thank you for the video.
Love the candour and chance to share in your feelings. Caused some tear-ups just watching and listening. Well done, bravo! Looking forward to more performances. Best wishes.
You did your best Tiffany! It’s definitely been a while to hear a live orchestra & a solo pianist performing a concerto even if it’s through UA-cam. Don’t be hard on yourself. Kudos to you practicing for a concerto after a year of not playing live with an orchestra. You did it & gave your best & love that the Conductor really wanted to you to join the orchestra because of the beautiful timbre you bring as you play Brahms! It’s really great you share your honesty with us to wanting to playing a piece that your connected with, I am reminded how not just emotional is when a musician connects with a piece but also how mentally challenging music can be when we want to give our best by not our emotions get the best of us or self doubt.
This made my day better, thank you for always being my inspiration, you give me strenght when I don´t have it anymore, I kown that being a musician it is just so beautiful but also confusing and complicated by so many reasons, watching your videos I don´t feel alone in this world and I hopefully be like you someday, you are one of my favorite persons in this world :)
This was extremely inspiring and your post-concert conversation with Elisabeth represented what I love about musicians coming together to play beautiful music. She was so proud of you and so am i
Let me offer a bit of advice from someone with a fairly good hold on pianism and music in general: "To play a wrong note is insignificant. To play without passion is unforgivable." Ludwig van Beethoven.
So beautiful place Salzburg , with great and fantastic people . Congratulation for the great performance and Bhrams is spectaculare played by you . Thank you so much for sharing this excelent video and good luck further !👏👏👏👍🌼☘️🏆🥇👋
Congratulations on your first real-life live Concert since Corona! And a successful one too, I believe. I don’t know whether you read comments but just wanted to say that I really enjoy watching your videos, those long monologues included:) It really helps you get a peek into a mind of a growing young artist, music lover. A great contribution to mankind for sure. Bravissimo, Tiffany!!
You are beautiful, that's for sure! Whilst I don't usually like people talking to much about themselves and their emotions, it rather moving to see you share yours in such a moment of your life, and especially as this piece is so thrilling... Good luck for the next steps and hopefully see you on stage :))
Everytime you post a new video it always inspires me to keep playing piano, and gets me back into it when I'm feeling unmotivated! Thank you so much for your content ☺️
it was nice to hear your thoughts and realizations throughout this whole vlog !! I like the conductor's energy and how she viewed you playing this piece.
I didn't know this piece had such highs and lows in the background and history of the piece. Thanks for letting us know. That's something I'd like to hear more. Thanks for sharing your journey and congrats a on concert well-done!
I was having an absolutely terrible day and this video just saved me emotionally. Thank you for being you, Tiffany! Can't wait to hear you play in person someday :) - Mehra 💖
Thank you, Thank you... LOVE these behind the scenes, get ready with me ones. And.. liked the honesty of your raw emotions. You looked beautiful. The music was so powerful. Can't imagine the strength it takes to play so hard and hours involved. One thing I always wonder though - when you are concentrating on your playing, and the director is behind you - how hard is it to stay in time with what the conductor is doing? Also... you always prepare for encore. Has there ever been a time when audience thought you were done and then didn't play the encore after all? I hope you keep doing orchestra performances along your solo journey.
I love how you vlog, it's very interactive along with the imageries and perspective, i think that's part of why this vlog is relaxing. I started listening to Brahms' Intermezzos after hearing it in your vlogs too.
Brilliant video, I was amazed by your footworks, OH,My GOD! It was just like a world class Rally Car Drivers when they so skillfully mastering the footworks with clutch, throttles, and brakes. Beautifully synchormized, dance like a ballerina !! what a wonderful discovery for me !! thank you !!!
To me the difference between a great artist and one who thinks they are great is the truly great artist is always their own harshest critic and those who think they are great won't listen to the critics. I love your playing. Truly a great artist.
Tiffany, you are gorgeous and a big inspiration for me. You have no idea how much courage you give me to follow my dream of becoming a concert pianist, even if I don't always feel able to practice, but I always remember you and your ambition, you helped me a lot in these bad times. Thank you!
I feel the same way!
🥺❤️🙏 Thank *you*
Me too
We (the audience) don't care about mistakes. Music is about emotion....not perfection.
Indeed, my old friend Carl; otherwise, we would all just listen to midi files!
Absolutely, mistakes always happen in live performances across all genres such of music, what matters is the mind and soul behind the sounds
That is so true . Bring emotions and you ll get a golden buzzer . Sure to the purists it s better if you dont make mistake(s) but ,eh eh , they are a minority !!!!!
As audience, we are not that good in picking mistakes haha, and quite forgiving if they happen. Engaging & sincere music making is most important
Indeed!!
The two musicians who did a small dance at 6:52 while you were playing was so cute lol
Good dancer! Really has a natural sense of rhythm... which, surprisingly, a lot of musicians -- and dancers! -- do not have

Thank you so much for sharing this excelent video and good luck further !👏👏👏👍🌼☘️🏆🥇👋
have been watching you for several years, you are growing into a real professional piano performer, all the best to you!
Your openness and honesty is amazing . Hope I get to hear you play some time !
Beautiful first Brahms first! And thanks for showing how you test a piano, etc.
You are magnificent! We artists are too tough on ourselves. I'm looking forward to following your stellar career!
You are beautiful, that's for sure! Whilst I don't usually like people talking to much about themselves and their emotions, it rather moving to see you share yours in such a moment of your life, and especially as this piece is so thrilling... Good luck for the next steps and hopefully see you on stage :))
Amazing to follow you before a breathtaking orchestral concerto, thanks for sharing! ❤
beautiful & talented we love that combo .
Loved what you said about how there shouldn’t be a hierarchy between the audience and the artist :)
You are talented, your are beautiful, you are great, ....believe in yourself, you can do it,no doubt about it
Everytime you post a new video it always inspires me to keep playing piano, and gets me back into it when I'm feeling unmotivated! Thank you so much for your content ☺️
it was nice to hear your thoughts and realizations throughout this whole vlog !! I like the conductor's energy and how she viewed you playing this piece.
I missed you Tiffany!!
I didn't know this piece had such highs and lows in the background and history of the piece. Thanks for letting us know. That's something I'd like to hear more. Thanks for sharing your journey and congrats a on concert well-done!
You will be, and are, great.!
“To play a wrong note is insignificant; to play without passion is inexcusable.” ― Ludwig van Beethoven
Love this concerto❤️
Ohhh I’m so glad you spoke Cantonese in the video! Keep up with your progress and bring us more impactful performances!
Welll Done!! Thank you for being so real!! You are simply awesome!!😃
Bravo!
You're doing great!
Hope it goes great, Tiffany! You could never disturb me with your practicing!
Beautifully synchormized, dance like a ballerina
!! what a wonderful discovery for me !! thank you !!!
It is a very beautiful piece of music and your interpretation is sensitive and touching
BRAVO TIFFANY! You're growing everyday. You're So Talented Lady!!!
To me the difference between a great artist and one who thinks they are great is the truly great artist is always their own harshest critic and those who think they are great won't listen to the critics. I love your playing. Truly a great artist.
