Most of these IDF soldiers aren't used to people fighting back. If one person can cause so much damage, to the point where they call in 2 apache helicopters, it tells you how precarious the occupation is. Fear of the IDF seems to have waned somewhat as Hamas is still holding its own in Gaza against one of the best equipped militaries in the world after nearly 6 months..
