    Two questions that are bothering me from an American perspective (USA) without previous Spanish colony citizenship:
    1. For Americans, are there viable options for living in Spain permanently?
    2. Is there an option for Americans to apply for Spanish citizenship without renouncing their American citizenship?
    These are the questions that have been bothering me because I learned that Americans have to renounce citizenship in order to apply for citizenship in Spain. The only loophole I am aware of is being a citizen of a previous Spanish Colony (or France) and then applying for citizenship. Those people are given the choice of dual citizenship.
    I've heard that getting citizenship of a previous Spanish colony for an American would allow them to use that country to apply for Spanish citizenship and avoid renouncing their citizenship. I probably would not do this because it seems a bit too much and maybe not ethical but who knows, maybe I will learn some Portuguese and live in Portugal first.
    The new digital nomad visa should be a pretty good option for the longer term but even then they say it will only be up to 5 years.
    I am looking for a new home. I like traveling but I do not want to keep uprooting my life every few years. I would like to build roots somewhere and call it home. I'm hoping Spain can be that place but I'm not so sure I will be able to do it!

    Great video and extremely helpful 👏👏👏. We visited Spain for a month last Sept/Oct (2021). We loved Spain ❤️. For sure, I can see myself live in Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante or Malaga. What an amazing people and country 🇪🇸🇪🇸. Unfortunately, Spain is NOT a tax-friendly for us as a retired American couple. So, we will have to visit often but not live there full time 🥲. Love your channel …. keep up the great work. 🙏❤️

      Hi Mohammed! Great to hear from you! Spain is incredible, but you are so right about Spain not being tax-friendly to retired Americans (and foreigners in general). I was just speaking to a British friend about this today who also lives in Spain, it can be a pain point for sure depending on your income and assets. Glad that you still come to visit often and reap the benefits of enjoying Spain. Speak soon!

      @@SheHitRefresh Hi Cepee, I would like to participate in “live” streaming Q/A sessions and wonder if you plan do that in the future? Before we got our residency to Mexico, I followed and benefited from an excellent channel (called “Mexico Relocation Guide” UA-cam channel). The Q/A sessions were very successful and attracted many subscribes participation. Thank you. 🙏😀

    Hey Cepee. I’m an American about to hit the magic age u mentioned being in 2015, and I’ve become completely disillusioned with the US at this point. I’ve recently been looking into student programs in Spain, Italy, and Argentina, but everything I learn and everyone I speak to are all pointing towards España as the best direction. Would u be willing to do a video that highlights some of the things that Spain offers or is doing better than the US for u (as they’ll probably be the same things for me). I guess an example of what I’m looking for is like… how do Spaniards treat topics like politics, life goals, values, etc. I just came across -and already subscribed to- ur channel today and have heard u hit some of these topics within other videos, but if u could do one focusing on that, I’d really like to sit down with my rents to watch it. Despite having 4 degrees and speaking 3 languages, I still haven’t been able to find my passion here in the states. My parents tell me that if I can’t find it here, it’s not gonna be any easier finding it anywhere else. I truly disagree but, having only ever traveled to Canada and the Caribbean, I don’t have much to tell them in response, other than what I’ve researched and what my intuition tells me I should be doing… thank u so much for reading all that and I hope to hear from you! -Danny

    I plan to brush up on my Spanish, but where is the best place to live in Spain if you are not fluent in the Language? Thx.

    • @SheHitRefresh
      @SheHitRefresh  2 роки тому

      That's a great question! I think living anywhere is ok if you are not fluent in Spanish. People are very kind and patient so you can get by on basic Spanish mostly anywhere.
      In terms of the best place to learn Spanish, I think living anywhere where there is a large expat population makes it harder to learn the local language since you will have access to native English speakers as a crutch. Given that, if you are self-disciplined and limit your time with English speakers you can learn Spanish in a city like Madrid that still has tons of foreigners. Expats are usually located along the coast and in Madrid.
      Moving to a less popular city or smaller town where there are very few to no foreigners will help you pick up Spanish quickly as you won't have much of a chance to speak English. You can do this in many regions of Spain just keep in mind that some regions speak other languages or have dialects. The dialect in Andalucia isn't the easiest to pick up but I think if you can learn Spanish here you'll understand Spanish anywhere you go :P.
      Living in the autonomous region of Catalunya may be challenging to learn Spanish as their primary language is Catalan. In Galicia and Valencia they also speak their own languages.
      Castilla y León is where they say Spanish is the easiest to understand in Spain. So it might be a region to look into.

    Can you clarify for retirees from the US? Would I be approved if my pension and social security meet $30K per year, or do I need $30K in savings AND at least $2,500 per month in retirement payments? I've seen conflicting info online. Thanks!
