Awesome to finally meet you at the show yesterday Michael. I had a blast! It was great to finally listen to other home theater setups besides my own.
How did those other setups fare against your personal equipment?
@@SealedOrPorted I had honestly thought that they were going to sound noticeably better. To my surprise there was not an obvious difference. I have a 7.2.6 set up with Klipsch speakers and a Denon AVR and Kaleidescape. I definitely can see that there is probably diminishing returns after you spend a certain amount of money as it is frequently discussed on the channel. I do understand that a lot of these rooms are fairly large and are not properly treated so it’s tough to say 100% that they would not sound a whole lot better in a properly treated room.

Looks good. Can you get the guys at MadVR to have more pix on before vs after. The current ones are a little dated and don’t illustrate the value adequately.
Would love to see @HDTVTest run it through some tests and check accuracy.
I’ve yet to see a video where they show madVR on an OLED versus the OLED on its own, but still dialed in. Too many times of just toggling off tone mapping without changing any of the settings that YOU’D SET DIFFERENTLY if you didn’t have madVR. A true look at what it does for a tv that doesn’t need AS MUCH help with dynamic tone mapping. Let’s see that!
I shall be ordering one for my JVC NZ7. With this and the Kaleidescape, my end game setup is becoming a reality sooner than I thought. Now i just need trinnov to release a 20 channel processor for under $10K LOL
Very commendable to put their academy videos online for all.. I think its an amazing product for anyone with a projector.. I wish we could get it for usa prices 5k USD is 6500 British pounds here which is around 8300 usd. Fantastic product !!

Great review. i just pre-ordered mine from audio advice. Haters are going to hate because it is not in their budget. I have seen the madvr display, and it does make a big difference.
I wish they would sell the software license so people could run them on their home theater PCs
There is a free version that you can download for your home theater pc! I use it and it’s pretty good!
@@tjflashtony Very old and missing most of the current functionality. There is no reason why they can't also sell their software on a Dirac model, where you can buy as much of the functionality as you desire, and install and configure it on your own hardware. For people who want a plug-and-play solution, they can still buy these overpriced products. They will never get my business otherwise.

It's definitely very cool that the price point is way more sensible for what the product is - taking a great image and improving it. You'd think it would be possible for projector and TV manufacturers to install an ASIC or something and just preinstall comparative feature sets.. for less. Either way, it's a solid product for the not entirely broke enthusiast who wants to add a little extra to the image. There's still that whiff of "the unit can do X and Y, but you only get X unless you pay us to unlock the software to do Y"... shades of BMW charging you extra to allow you to turn on your seat heaters. It's a little bit offputting, not gonna lie.
The other way to look at it is you’re not paying for things that you don’t need. I know plenty of AVR manufacturers that charge me for features that I would never want, but yet I still have to pay for them.
Would have bought right away but not having motion is a no go. Important part of the value prop.

@@Youthman ok great. Please don't take my other comment as negativity. I just find it extremely difficult to justify the price considering the PC specs it's made from. Now I do believe the software is alot of work and profits are great. I like when businesses make a lot of money it allows for r&d and tike to develop but it seems that $13,000 difference between hardware cost at retails and the end product is just very difficult to swallow.
It’s definitely not inexpensive. But that is the entire reason why madVR created The Core. To provide more customers with access to the core features of the madVR Envy.

They had an Envy Core setup with an LS12000 in the KEF room. It was a great setup.
way out of my price range but would like to see some comparisons to see if this unit is worth $5k as he said it will make a budget tv or projector much better but is $5000 worth of difference ?
I'm sure this box of tricks does many great things. However, if my projector did "non-linear stretch" out of the box and I couldn't turn that off - then I'd cheerfully pay five grand for a box that restored the black bars and AR to how they should be..!
Intrigued on this Envy core. I wonder what would be better the Envy Core or a preowned Extreme MK1?
Preowned Envy Extreme MK1 has motion AI if that’s important to you.
Extreme Mk1 (even 2080) will be a much better buy, especially since they are the same price. All the feature lists, and the 2080 is still more powerful generally than the 4060 in the Core.
@@Macroproxy yes, no thanks to NVIDIA for purposefully undercutting the 40 series. The MK3 will be an absolute beast once 5080 comes out. The biggest issue with 40 series GPUs is their 12v power connector melting. Hopefully MadVR is using a better power connector, otherwise hold onto and extend that warranty!!

The Sony XW 7000 and the Envy Core is at the moment the best combo

WOW full power of the 4060...so a $270usd card. I repeat a $270 card. Makes the $5995 seem great hardware wise lol. A solid good PC case is $350 so it's not the case...hardware all up it's $1000-$1200 at most. A rtx4080 from the extreme is $1100 so at $16000 you ain't tricking people with any PC I kwowledge. I understand software is important and want makes it work well but charging $13000 for the software is a joke.
For the extreme at $6000 i think it's great value but being same or more expensive than a proper jvc projector is ridiculous. The engineering to make a display device like a jvc projector compared to building this pc is not even comparable. PC parts are made in 10s of millions and all these are generic inside.
If you can build it cheaper version and sell it, you could make a fortune.
