- HD version of our Salamat routine
The University of the Philippines Pep Squad or more popularly known as the UP Pep Squad was formed in 1995. UP Pep Squad has the most number of wins in the UAAP Cheerdance Competition with 20 podium finishes. They were declared champions for eight non-consecutive years (1999, 2000, 2001, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011 and 2012).
The UP Pep Squad is known for introducing Filipino cheers in the UAAP. Some of these are the Unibersidad ng Pilipinas chant, UP Paparty, Bahaghari, among others.

I actually like this routine. Hope to see these kind of pyramids in CDC 2019 with better and smoother transitions. Good luck UP!
Dance at 3:19 was strong. Nagtataka talaga ko kung anong nangyari sa dance nila nung 2015. Parang napunta lahat ng creative juices nila sa opening ng UAAP kasi sila yung host. Sad. They were 36 points behind UST sa dance last 2015.

This is not a butthurt comment po, I LOVE UP PEP SQUAD PO, but the thing is that mas solid po ang stunts ng NU Pep Squad po. But in all fairness i love the mounting of UP in this routine. #KudosUP sana mag compete kayo next year :( walang thrill eh pag wala kayo....

If ma.compete sila sa international competetion dapat ata nag.perform sila jan ng standard para naman ma.sanay. rewinds sinalo ng prep. full ups dinaan sa prep. halos lahat dinaan sa prep. tosses full lang. may nag kick doubles pa pero free flipping ang competitions na sasalihan. I beg to disagree sa pwedeng hindi standard ang technique sa routine pag hindi competition.

Let us consider the technicalities and cheer elements as well, and i think jan mag focus ang UP Pep Squad :) and their music too masyadong baduy for a cheer dance routine #RealTalk . Hindi naman sa nagmamagaling ako pero napagiiwanan na sila ng other team. I love their unique ideas and concepts but this squad needs to improve. I LOVE YOU ALL ..
I wont compare this with UAAP CDC but i hope mangshock sila sa upcoming competitions nila outside the country as everyone claims here..
Kasi if ibabase ko rin sa last performance nila na magrepresent sila ng Pinas (last year i think 3rd din sila) and same set of skills lng.. Ang layo and masyadong advance talaga ang NU when it comes to that aspect.. But we will see, lets give them a chance 😄
Instead of watching this year's 2016 CDC, I've re watch all of UP's CDC routine. GO UP.

Well honestly, maganda yung routine, pero its not good enough. Kase kung tutuusin pamatay na talaga routine ng nag top 3 this cdc 2016. All i can say is kahit di man kayo manalo this season (kung sumali sana kayo) eh panalong-panalo naman ang audience and supporters nyo sa ipinaparating nyong message. Good job up pep!!! And always remember that no matter what, I'll or should i say we'll support you all till the very end. THANK YOU UP♥♥♥
Yap i agree pag UP ang nagperform ng cheerdance may puso. Pero kung isasama ko to sa UAAP cheerdance performance this performance will land runner up. Please perfect your pyramid and stunts and make it next level (difficult level) kasi when it comes to dance you it.

Sorry ah, but if eto yung routine nila for UAAP, baka 3rd lang sila. NU solidified it with their stunts and tosses and ADAMSON's was clean enough to be a runner up.

UP will always give us UP! Unique Performance! Walang tatalo dun.. However NU this year has sharper moves, stunts, music and competetive routine...mas visually entertaining yung NU... Technically mananalo padin sila.. UP for sure can do better than NU's performance.. aabangan ko yan next year... :)

I'm a big fan of UP pep squad and their past UAAP CDC performances still give me goosebumps. But considering the improvements of other schools technicality-wise, I must say na napag-iiwanan na talaga ang UP, but still ahead of UST na every year na lang playing safe and parang intermission lang ang performance which is far worse.
Ang hirap nga lang magjudge based dito sa pinakita nila, since hindi naman sure kung ito na talaga yung level nila last 2016. Though I am a bit worried with their lineup. Sobrang daming nawala after CDC 2015. Yung mga considered na solid.
FLYER:
Audrey Munoz, Lara Limjap - Flyers since 2011. Audrey sa toss: double fulls. Sa tumblings: full twisting layout. Both are considered to be veterans in partner stunts, and became Team Captains. Lara can do 2 skills in one toss pero hindi well executed (IFC Berlin 2015 Cheer Mixed Group Category). Isang year pa sana at siguro makakayanan na nilang mag 2 skills in one toss na perfect yung execution. Nakakapagtaka lang, 2011 pa lang marunong na si Audrey nung double fulls (toss). Bakit hindi inupgrade, eh gymnast naman sya?
MID-BASE:
Cam Lagmay. She's irreplaceable, like Lian Melegrito (Team Capt. 2013). UP's Party Routine 2013 introduced (if not, popularized) one mid-base carrying 2 flyers. They did that again nung 2015 with Cam. Si Kristel Punzalan at Karlene Sison lang ang nakikita kong solid na mga mid-bases tho Kar is also a flyer.
BASE:
Louie Castro started 2011, Co-captain last 2015.
Gerard Sison, yung morenong guy na sobrang solid kayang-kaya si Karlene (malaking babae po si Kar at halos ka-height na nya). Nag-unassisted rewind to prep to extension po sila na parang wala lang.
Keith (no idea what his surname is) pero base sya ni Fae Pascua dun sa UP Naming Mahal Sequence. Bago lang sya if I am not mistaken. 1st time ko syang nakita ever sa mats (ni hindi ko sya nakitang nagspot or tumapak sa mat o kahit anong cheer event mapa-compet pa yan or rehearsals). So I'd say he's solid since this is his first year to join at legit base na agad sya.
Leo Segundo solid din. Sya yung nag backhandspring to full twist sa unahan (Seksi Seksi part nung 2015). Beterano na din.
Anyway, malakas pa din talaga ang UP sa dance. Hindi din mawawala ang aesthetics sa performances nila. Yan talaga yung skills na kahit kailan hindi nawala sa kanila.

Sorry but there is no reason to blame the veterans. It should be on the coaching staff, if they did a good training and preparations, this squad could have gone better than before. If they get out of their comfort zone, nevertheless they still can beat NU Pep Squad and other upgrading squads.

I don't understand why the UP head coach can't get over the results and boycotted this year's UAAP. First of all Cheerleading is a subjective sport. It's a sport where in you have panel of judges who scores and decides who the winners are. That's the very nature of the sport and it will never change. Second, The NU pep squad is better than the UP pep when technicalities are concerned because most of the NU pep members are gymnasts. . Lastly, The UAAP CDC has had some really questionable outcomes/winners before prior to last year's CDC. (ex. when UP won 2010 and FEU was only 1st runner up and many more..) but still no university has ever boycotted the CDC because of the results.
The UP pep and their coach think that they're better and bigger than the UAAP but there's a difference between school pride and just PRIDE.
Personally, I wouldn't suggest that the UP pep should replace it's trademark songs, style and creativity but I really think that they should change their coach(lalala) because they need someone who doesn't have that much PRIDE and someone who can make them technically better. Look at AdU, new coach and they just had an awesome routine. FEU new coach as well. Same with NU they changed their coaches last 2011 and look at them now.

tumblings: walang specialty pass, o kahit man lang double FTLO
stunts: no change in body position, pag mount dismount agad. may stability issue pa
gawin muna nila standard skill level nila bago sila magmarunong.
+Ronald Oh it's you! Di pa kita nasasagot sa kabilang thread. Anyway... Agree on the tosses. Pero sana in-acknowledge mo naman yung ganda ng Bird Front full twist nila. Though nagtataka din ako bakit pati full twists di nila ginawa dito. Anyway, I saw their FB page admin responding to constructive criticism about this routine. They reiterated that this is a non-competitition piece, so they most likely downgraded the difficulty just for entertainment purposes. Though hindi makakalagpas sa mga kagaya nating eagle-eyed audience yung ganung detalye.
To add to that, I noticed as well in CWC, the teams there wouldn't do the difficult skills like the step out double twists. Maybe they have a different criteria. Since CWC is under IFC, which is a subsidiary of FIG, I'm guessing they're placing a hefty deduction for bad forms, kaya the teams there would opt for skills they're sure to perfectly execute.
On the stunts, not sure what you mean by 'elite rewind' (sorry mas familiar ako sa gymnastics than cheer terms). But they can definitely do a rewind - yun nga lang nag prep-level at cupie lang. Though I noticed that in terms of partner stunts mas magaling pa yung line up nila nung 2013 and 2011. Year 2013 - flyers did a cartwheel mounting (via the assisting base) and 2011 - unassisted heel stretch.

Well, I kinda remember one thing their coach said after their 2015 routines. That their happy with their performance, that they don't plan to "please the subjective standards of others." Maybe that's the answer. After all, ibang organization ang affiliate nila.

See actually pinatunayan yan ng DLSU Amino Squad, UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe, FEU Cheering Squad, AdU Pep Squad and UE Pep Squad. There are worthy competitors at kahit wala ang UP Pep Squad. Tuloy ang UAAP CDC. Sino ba sila para itigil ang competition? They are not worthy to compete with those teams humble and risk takers specially ADMU Blue Babble.

What to expect from the UP Crowd this coming Saturday:
1.) They are going to cheer for every mistakes/errors to the routine of other squads.
2.) They don't know how to appreciate(applause or be grateful for) other squads' routine.
Pansinin nyo every competition, ganyan ang ugali ng UP Crowd. Last year lahat nagpapalakpakan, this year UP Crowd lang hindi papalakpak sa other squad. Ang babaduy.
E JM nakalimutan mo, gagawa ng kung anu-anong gimik para makakuha ng kakampi sa ibang schools. In the end sasabihin hindi nga nila nakuha ang title pero they won the heart of the crowd. 😂

People are so quick to judge, letting their mouths open and try to say anything they want without knowing the real reason why UP didn't join. I'm neither from UP, nor from any UAAP School. Ang alam nyo lang kasing mga keyboard warriors eh paniwalaan ang pinakasuperficial na comments at hearsays na nakikita nyo kung saan-saan.
This is why they did not join last year's CDC.
1. If I am not mistaken, filing a protest before, during, or after the announcement of the winners is PROHIBITED. It will result to the team's DISQUALIFICATION. UP filed a formal protest after the announcement and the judges acknowledged it and was considered VALID.
2. If the protest wasn't acknowledged at all, UP's 2nd RU finish can be revoked because of disqualification, and they will be replaced by FEU who at that time ranked 4th. But it didn't happen, because again, the protest was considered valid.
3. Acknowledging such protest means that the questions thrown at them must be answered - and UP didn't hear anything from them. Pinaghintay sila sa wala.
Let's forget about NU's deductions, let's forget about UST's tumbling passes. Ang pinaka-hindi natanggap ng UP ay yung PRONE DISMOUNTS.
Walang nakakaalam kung bawal nga ba talaga ang prone dismounts since down na ang website ng NCC. Baka po may magtanong kung ano ba yung prone dismount, ito yun:
"Prone: A position in which the front of the individual’s body is facing the ground, and the back of the individual’s body is facing up." - ICU 2017 World Cheerleading Championship Rules.

Anyway, EVEN ICU PROHIBITS PRONE DISMOUNTS from flyers who will be released at 2 1/2 persons-high pyramid. ICU TO BES, WORLD GOVERNING BODY SA CHEERLEADING. NU had mulitple instances of prone dismounts na sobrang delikado. Why is NCC condoning this? Nag-impose ng rules tapos hindi ipapatupad?
To quote Coach Lala, "We just wanted an informal dialogue - clarification lang - talagang para lang malinaw sa amin, kung tama ba ang pagkaintindi namin sa mga rules, kung tama ba yung nakita naming tingin naming mali, informal dialogue lang sana." Nakakahiya kayo NCC. You shouldn't be handling such events like this if you cannot properly impose your rules, the rules you have set in the first place.
Tapos nung sa routine ng NU 2016, kitang-kita na hindi na sila nagpo-prone, though may 2 instances pa din sa last pyramid nilang 3-2-5.
Hinahamon ko kayo mga utak talangkang walang ginawa kung hindi i-bash ang UP sa decision nilang mag-back out last 2016, na sagutin ang tanong ng UP kung bawal nga ba ang prone dismounts. Hinahamon ko din ang mga may alam sa cheerleading, give us links or quotations from cheerleading rules about prone dismounts. Hindi ka tatamaan sa utak talangka, kung hindi ka utak talangka.
May prone dismount din 'yung ADU Pep noon... 🙄

As early as now learn how to APPRECIATE. I re-watch cdc perf from 2011-2015, and it's a damn, wala kang makikitang palakpak from UP Crowd kapag ibang squad na ang nagpeperform. Sobrang entitled lang(I guess).

Honestly hinintay ko tlga matapos ang routine. I was hoping na may pasabog sa dulo kaso inantok ako instead na mapaangat ang puwet ko. This is sooooo boring and corny. I think UP is overrated kaya when NU overtook them (kinabog sila) nasaktan mga ego nila. Nasaksak na kasi sa mga UTAK at PUSO nila na sila ang "DA BEST".
