could you please give guidance on - when Meibomian glands are atrophied. can they grow back? why do they die? how to stop the remaining ones from drooping out. is it normal to have some glands dead? One video on this will be very helpful.
What I dont like about those glasses are their design. I use Ziena brand but I still dont like how they look and I only wear them at home. I would love to have some moisture chamber glasses which look like normal ones and I could wear them in the office without feeling like a weirdo.
For me, who is suffering with unacceptably severe dry eyes problem, since past 3 years, also had to quit my IT job, this glasses would be a life saver for me. I am ordering it today. I literally don't care, even a bit, if it might look funny wearing it.
I have found ski googles help me the best, for walking, running, working in yard, etc. I don't have to worry about them sliding down my nose and they have adequate foam, which makes them comfortable. And, ski goggles are fairly cheap. I have about 6 pair, with different levels of tint (clear to high tint).
How do you manage the ski goggles fogging up as you said you use them for running and outside work when sweating? Do they not fog? or do you have to treat them with something?
@@chrisblupo I don't have problems with them fogging up. I live in Houston, where it rarely gets cold. I thinking fogging up is more of a problem when it's very cold. I recall this while snow skiing. I always carried some defogging wipes with me. p.s. I originally tried safety goggles, but I found them very uncomfortable (not enough foam, like the ski goggles have).
I suffer from dry eye due to contact lens wear but primarily on my left eye from a previous corneal injury. When it does get dry, it is very uncomfortable. I discovered that sleeping w a humidifier at night is a game changer but Im always looking for other solutions. Thank you so much for this very detailed review!! I will be purchasing👍🏽
I actually bought my first pair of these about 8 years ago, really liked the added pieces that can be soaked in water for added relief, they are however too clunky and would never wear out in public. Luckily I have found here in The Netherlands they custom make moisture chambers for regular eye glasses frames and so just this morning I came out of my first appointment. They are extremely discreet and I’m super happy! Also it’s covered by our health insurance which is great cause they are expensive!
Eye doctors don’t recommend this or anything because they kinda suck, they only tell you to use eye drops when some people clearly need more. Thanks a lot for bringing this content Dr Allen. One question though, are there any patients that got some bacterial infection wearing these?
Hey thank you. As far as your question about the bacterial infection, I have not heard of anyone getting an infection specifically from wearing moisture chambers, but people can get infections for many reasons - unrelated to the moisture chambers.
Have you ever tried using food wrap (saran wrap, glad press n seal) for dry eyes for bed? I did for the first time last night and it was amazing, but I've read online it can cause infections due to the trapped moisture.
Excellent question..! My thoughts exactly! And what about the sponges (these glasses don’t use sponges, uses vinyl and are washable), the sponges that are permanently glued around some of those eye pads that gather bacteria and can’t be removed to be washed? And what about the compresses that are like tiny pillows in some of the eye-patches that push in on the eyeball, ouch..!
Yes there is. It's recommended to replace the sponges. Most glasses should come bundled with replacements. They're not too advanced, do perhaps you could cut your own?
Thank you very much doctor, I really appreciate your help. I am about to buy these glasses, but I have read some comments in which, contrary to the opinion you have, they say that they do not seal completely. If it really is like that, then they wouldn't work for me, because I can't stand even a light breeze. Doc, did you try them outdoors on a windy day and still felt completely sealed, that is, no wind reached your eyes? or you just tried them indoors? Thanks!
Why didn't my doc ever mention these? I have very dry eyes. Can a patient get blue light lenses, and many other things in the lenses? I will ask, even though I think I know the answer, can they be placed over other glasses. Figure... no. I have two different astigmatisms. Hard to read, and hard to see long distance. And floaters that really give me a hard time. If I turn my head too quickly, I see flashes of light, in the outer corners of my eyes. And visual snow. Painful to be in bright light. I believe the very dry eyes are most of the problem. I take antihistamine every day too. I ingest a few supplements for the eye, but may have developed an allergic reaction to lutein. I have hives on and off and am trying to figure out, which supplement is causing it. I am almost diabetic, and have had 2 strokes. I am a mess, and 70 years old, too. Any answers would be beneficial. Thanks.
i’d like to get a pair of the sunglasses for cycling...after an hour or so of riding, my eyes are so dry and red. Sounds like these would help alot. Thanks for the info/review...really appreciate your wisdom.
OMG :( This is the saddest thing i love cycling to work. But if i cycle for 20 minutes my eyes start to get dry eye and if I cycle a few times they go red and i start having issues. I dont think these glasses will do it though because they still will let air in. I have tried safety goggles which were really good but might have to go for ski goggles
Just saw your moisture relief video from 2 years ago and I went to the Eyeeco website, but I guess they do not sell these moisture chamber glasses anymore. Do you know who might sell this type of moisture glasses as I think they are exactly what I need. Thanks
Hello Dr Allen. You look marvelous in those glasses! Do these glasses guard against cold and wind too? Also, I'd be grateful if you did a video on seborrheic blepharitis.
I don't think they would. But these glasses can fit prescription lenses in them up to a certain amount of power. How high is your glasses prescription?
Yes they do work, but are best for evaporative dry eye. Likely, dry eye will require treatment beyond just using these but I know they help for a lot of people.
Seems like a pair of prescription sports glasses woule be more suitable. Because of the construction of such glasses they already have a foam liner around the lenses (thus keeping air out) and they would replace your regular glasses while outside.
I am surprised you didn't mention the advantage of these glasses in protecting the eyes from Covid infection. They are the most attractive and least cumbersome of all of the eye protective devices I have seen for that purpose.
Yes! I just got myself a pair for work. I didn't know they were moisture chambers. I was looking for work goggles and i went with something similar with foam all around to make a nice seal around my eyes. My regular glasses are big framed and so I use a swimming goggles like pair over them. But the taking on and off repeatedly over my 12 hour shift to adjust my glasses over my N95 messes up the fit and stability of my glasses. So I bought me this type of glasses for work to save my regular glasses from breaking. Not the prettiest of glasses tho, my new chamber glasses do not compliment me like they do Doc here 😅
Dr, I have slightly noticeable blue veins when I stretch my upper eyelids and I have inflammation on the upper eyelids. Do you think there is a link? Thank you for your great videos
I go to EyeEco link that you had mentioned but they don’t have any moisture chamber glasses with inside cartridge. My Dr prescribed me those glasses. Is there anyway I get it? Please help me.. I really need it. Thanks
HI, we have nothing like this is South Africa. As a hiker who developed DYS, the wind is very difficult to manage when doing a hike. I hope I can import this - thank you for the input!
SUPER good question! I plan to do a video all about that soon. It seems it is not for everyone, but it does help a lot of people. The most common negative sides are 1. Cost, 2. burning upon installation (but this usually improves over the first 2 weeks or so).
I am seriously considering getting those. Am only seeing the large ones on uk websites but watching this I migjt just go for it. Honestly want goggle strap ones but this onese are unique
Bought these glasses, they don’t seal properly even if you “fix” it by adjusting them. I grabbed myself the smaller size, I had issues with the sealing for the top. They recommended the larger ones and when I asked for a refund instead of dealing with them, I was told a bigger size would fit better and that it wasn’t a defective product. 🙌 I even had 3 different people try them on to check for sizing and they all had the same “sealing” issue as me. 😒
Very sorry to hear that...I can imagine how frustrating that is. I have personally never had a problem with the seal but I do occasionally have to adjust it by flexing the nose bridge. Do you find them comfortable at all? Have you tried the Ziena brand at all?
The glasses look perfect! Am saving up for them. As a side-note, I fixed a stye in my own eye myself from your videos, Thanku! Saved hundreds of dollars..! Additional question, the tiny blockage was apparently there for some time before it got red & inflamed. Hey this is all great news! Glad things got better and I was able to help. If the glands solidified then often the manual gland expression wont work. The surgeon will often need to either do an injection with a steroid or they will need to manually drain it. The procedure does not require anesthesia. It is done in the clinic with a local anesthetic to numb he eyelid and you are just on some antibiotics afterword. I hope to post a video about the procedure some day in the next few months.

I have dry eye syndrome but I see rainbow halos around lights, especially at night or starbursts with a little line, is that normal? My head and eyes hurts a lot during the day and even though I take eye drops like my eye doctor told me to it doesn't stop.
The rainbow around lights is pretty common. It can come from uncorrected refractive error (need for glasses), dry eyes like you have, cataracts and corneal scarring. Just to name a few.
I don’t know what is tge problem when I visit eyeeco site I only find the sleeping masks and not the glasses I looked at every category and still couldn’t find them
By the larger and smaller size, do they mean the fit of the glasses or the lense size? Also, could you please create a video on how to increase tear production? I watched your video on different causes of dry eye, and you mentioned that the problem for some people is more about not producing enough tears. So the how-to would be super duper helpful!
I can not for the life of me find where to order the eyeeco moisture glasses on their website!, can u help with the link.? The one u sent is the website but i cant find anywhere how to view the glasses or order them lol
This was very interesting to me because I have very dry eyes so I will be checking them out. I would also think they might be helpful to healthcare workers, and others, who are required to wear masks at this time because the sealed barrier and anti-fog coating would prevent mask-fog. Do you have any experience wearing these with a mask?
Hhaha after reading this comment I went ahead and put on a mask with them goggles lol. I have tried it 2 ways, and as long as the mask if further down the nose I am not getting the glasses to fog, but if the mask is up higher it does fog a little, but it doesn't stay long.

If you have a really dark brown eye color do u know what contact colors would work?
I have seen people with silver, amethyst, and emerald green
i need these for when im wearing contacts and using the computer
By the larger and smaller size, do they mean the fit of the glasses or the lense size?
Also, could you please create a video on how to increase tear production? I watched your video on different causes of dry eye, and you mentioned that the problem for some people is more about not producing enough tears. So the how-to would be super duper helpful!
Hey thanks for the great suggestions!
Larger size is a bigger frame and lenses in general.
I have tried it 2 ways, and as long as the mask if further down the nose I am not getting the glasses to fog, but if the mask is up higher it does fog a little, but it doesn't stay long.
does it make water vapor on the glass? anybody reply please
please make a detailed video on PRK and transPRk. i have gone through lasik. please consider.
