You are truly an inspiration. Just repaired an MSI Armor RX580 that was getting no Vcore. Turned out that the uP9505P chip wasn't getting enough volts on the enable pin. Traced the fault back to a shorted resistor that was keeping MMDT3904 transistor constantly on hence grounding the enable signal. Replaced it with a resistor of the original value from the schematic and Vcore was restored. Assembled it back and plugged it in and it works like a charm! Ran stress tests to confirm that it keeps working. Got a lot of help from your subreddit too. Thank you so much.
Excellent video! Short, focussed on a common issue, good pace with explanations makes it accessible to beginners like me. Your wiki is also excellently presented and full of key information. Very well done for taking the time to put this all together!
Great guide! I'm sure the circuit itself is pretty much the same on a 1080ti reference board vs the 1070, but the markings and layout are slightly different. Do other schematics exist or do we need to try and trace everything out for other boards?
Some high end 1080Tis use actually two UP9511Ps because they have more phases than the controller can support and they don't use doublers. But yes, the circuit is almost always the same.
I have another 1070 with no PGOOD from U505 VCC, EN, IMON resistor 10K, VREF 2V all good but no PGOOD. Controller is 100% working, I tried it on another board and it worked. It refuses to work on this board. Any idea why ? Can you please explain (many confuse me) which chip powers which chip in what order ? People say i need VCORE for U505 to work, but wiki says vcore will not work without U505 PGOOD signal. Information is confusing allover.
Hello friend, I subscribed to your channel. I think it is very accurate and very easy to understand. I hope your channel grows and of course I hope to see more videos, because I also want to learn... Greetings from Chile...
thanks for sharing man and it would have been better if you name the parts and their values like part number and capacitance and Resistance ( nobody has done this before) i LIKE IT A LOT
Thanks for the video. I have some trouble with the same card. I changed the UP9511 because it was damaged and I had no 1.8V, no PEX and no Vcore. Now I have 1.8V, I also have PEX but Vcore is missing. What could be the error? A missing solder connection at the new UP9511?
I have a similar card but it is from Asus. When I power on the PC, the fans spin for 1 s and the PC shuts down. In the beginning of the video, you measured resistence from pin 1 on the PCIEx connector to the ground? I am getting 0.0 ohm.
My MSI board Gaming X does not have that resistor there. instead i have Q3604 to its right. Looks to be the same as Q130. They both read 0.7v on 2nd pin I dont understand which pin you measure 3.3v at, pin 3 ? I have 2v there. No pex, no vcore. PEX U7 does not have enable. It comes from U505 correct ? I tried forums, people have no clue.
Palit 3060 ti I shorted pins 2 and 3 of the cable fan socket. 12-5 v is ok, 1.8v pex , mem, vdd voltages are not. Is the gpu damaged? :( 1.8 rail 0 ohm ) help please
Hi A.S.Repairs excelent video...thanks for that....i have a similar problem with a gtx660 2g with the controler i have no vcore no shorts of course the fan is at 100% no picture, i have 12v, 3.3v, and 5v the controler NCP5395G have the correct 5v vcc and the enable is 0.75v in the datasheet thei say the enable for VR11.1 Threshold is min 400 mV to max to 770mV and the Enable High Input Leakage Current in test conditions is (Pull−up to 1.3 V) so im confuse i dont know if this 0.75V are insuficient for enable the controler or if i have a death controler, some Help gone be very Much apreciated. Hi! I have a GTX 1080 that I'm attempting to repair and I had a couple of questions. I'm about to get to the voltage checks phase. I have a riser and I have a lab bench power supply but I'm not really sure how to connect them together. Do I need some kind of special PCIe connectors? I also have a normal PC PSU but that obviously doesn't let you control voltage or anything. Also, is it safe to boot the card up without a heat sink on? Should I be worried about it overheating and doing more damage? Thanks!
You just need to connect 12v to the riser's voltage in connector. I've made a custom cable myself that has 2 8pins and 1 6pin connectors that attaches to my LBPSU, the 6pin goes to the riser, other 2 8pins go to the card's external 8 pin connectors. You can turn on the card without the heatsink, it's designed to shut off if it gets too hot but it won't unless you keep it on for more than a minute
Hi, I have the Mini ITX versions of the 1060 cads, one by EVGA and one by Gigabyte. I don't have the schematics but I have the same problem, not getting the EN signal for Vcore controller (NCP81174 on Gigabyte). Any clues how to find the AND Gate on those cards? The component names (U506) are also different / no match.
Hello, I enjoyed your video, wondering if you can give some suggestions. I have the same card and it does not have a vid signal. The blower fan spins and the GTX led logo turns on/off. Upon further inspection, there are no visual damage or no short circuits. All the powers rails look fine, 5v, mem 1.35v, 1.8v, pex 1.04, and v core are all present. Now I'm baffled as to why the card doesn't give a signal. I already tried switching cables and computers, no luck. You think it could be a corrupted bios? Any suggestion will be much appreciated. Btw the card was bought from a video reproduction studio, no history.
@@A.S.Repairs What to do if the card won't post? Am I still able to run Mats? Will i need a cpu with on-board graphics to get around that? Any version of Linux will be fine?
