I find it really cool how with the reveal of luffys true devil fruit, the world govt. said that the fruit can be used to fight in any way the user imagines. With that being said, luffy isn't aware of his true abilities, so he uses moves that make sense in HIS mind. like how culverin changes direction midair and keeps accelerating, those aren't properties of rubber like Kaido said, but luffy honestly believes that is how rubber works.

Luffys arms stretched out way more than when he was trying to tear his arms off back in WCI. And im just saying. If luffy really was made out of rubber this attack wouldnt be possible. It would be more like a high speed yoyo. But then again. We dont know how exactly haki can be used in other ways so it all chalks up to luffys haki mastery when it changes directions.

probably gear 3 is also affected by luffy's thoughts. because if you hit with a very big balloon you will not cause more damage like gear 3 does
