They should go to cedar point.
Beautiful story
This man failed his first escape attempt leading to torture that lasted for 2 years, went back out, and attempted the same exact thing. Unbelievable bravery.
That's insanity done right.
The cost of freedom
Life finds a way!
I would'nt even try
Unless they make pizza illegal
The price of freedom is steep.
I can't imagine how happy he must be that his children don't have to grow up in North Korea.
Grubhub?
Anticapitalist X Do you have a life??????? I’m sorry that you make minimum wage and sit on your ass making hate comments on UA-cam.
@Anticapitalist X no need to get racist
Anticapitalist X here we see the average socialist who sits on his couch talking about minimum wage and how shit it is while not trying to actually improve his life. Maybe you do not know how bad it is in North Korea, but even 1 dollar an hour is at least 4x richer than what he gets daily in North Korea. The only sellout asshole I see here is you piece of shit.
@Anticapitalist X why do people like u exist?
This is the strongest dude I've ever seen, walked through hell and came out smiling
@Hazard Hawk oki
@Hazard Hawk It is a authoritarian regime, with the resulting human misery. The IMF and the world bank wants to destroy them because they cannot be controlled, but it isn't a paradise by any stretch of the imagination.
I've seen videos filmed by diplomats or privileged foreigners who lived in North Korea, life there is pretty normal, as long as you don't say something bad about the regime.
@Hazard Hawk i hope youre being sarcastic. ive employeed refugees from north korea. its hell.
@Hazard Hawk , it's poor, but people have to cope with it, so it became a norm.
he deserved every bit of success he has accomplished, good for him
Anticapitalist X mannn you must be really fun at parties.
Anticapitalist X oh you’re a fucking loser huh?
@Anticapitalist X what tf is your problem?
Anticapitalist X you must know that from personal experience
@Anticapitalist X damn thats hella spiteful for no reason
what a good guy. I really hope his homeland will be liberated one day.
Quite hard. The North Koreans would find it really hard to assimilate, culturally they are very very different, and economics too. The sudden influx of Korean unemployment would shock the united Korea first.
But no doubt in my mind that it is for the best.
Darren Atm I don’t doubt that they can do it. Not to mention, a lot of the younger generation know movies now, history, etc, from things being smuggled in. The new generations will be easier assimilated than the elderly for sure.
@Handsome Squidward Unfortunately, Kim's sister would likely just step into the role. It'll cause a stir, but it won't necessarily break down the country. Still, it may be an opportunity for a few more to escape.
@Maximilien FEAU Possibly. But the sister already has significant political power in NK - she's part of the Politburo, for one. She's also taken over Kim Jong-un's duties before when he was ill. Most sources I've read consider her the most likely successor if Kim Jong-un dies.
Handsome Squidward honestly, his family is all “missing” Kim has taken care of them so that they can’t take over.
Think about how bad it is over there for a grown man to enjoy the elevator for the first time like a 5 year old
scary
There's no electricity. Only downtown Pyongyang has electricity
@Anticapitalist X sure like everyone in north Korea gets universal healthcare.
@Anticapitalist X they dont get free healthcare and theres probably lots of poor people and homless people. Why do you think everyone that escapes talks about the hard life they had.
They don't seem all right either. He seems like the most well adapted one i've seen. I was hoping they would be happy now but it doesn't seem so.
It's so heartwarming to see how happy he is. He feels grateful where he is but little does he know, people are more grateful to see him living a life of freedom
@Anticapitalist X That name makes sence now :D
@Anticapitalist X what the actual fuck is wrong with you to look down upon someone who escaped pure hell and found a happiness in a new life. get a life and move out of your mom's basement.
Anticapitalist X If North Korea is such a good place to live then go live there.
@Anticapitalist X North Korean "sellout"? Read 'Aquariums of Pyongyang' to understand why he decided to be a "sellout".
@@coltonsupergame My suggestion exactly.
"I pretended to not know where my car was in the parking lot" ....smooth, i like that!
I said the same thing haha
That was a actually so cute and smooth lol
Lol I think I’ll try this if I ever go on a date
@@timdixon32 Same. Would make for a memorable experience, then I'd tell her about it in the far future when we're fighting so she'd be reminded of the good times lol.
@@timdixon32
Be careful. Some women would think "How irresponsible, putting us in danger wandering around this parking structure, so clearly lost!" They wouldn't accept a second date for sure.
Take this man to Magic Mountain and Disneyland!
It'll blow his mind!
Take him to X2. The last thing I ever saw
😆
Six flags better tho
he deserves a free pass to any theme park he wants
And Knots Berry!
He's very cute. Shes a lucky woman. He's the whole package.

I KNOW RIGHT
@Advocatus Diaboli I was just recommended this, this made my entire year 😭💖
FACTS!!!
This video makes me so proud to be an American. I'm glad he made it here and that his dreams really did come true! What an adorable baby too!!! We're very blessed here in the US. We take so much for granted and stories like this make me appreciate all we have.
Thanks for watching!
What a brilliant discovery. Genius !
jamnjam god bless America. A lot of us Americans take our freedoms for granted.
weed stay off of CNN bud
weed nope i just said stay off cnn or fox whichever lie you choose to believe. Just cause a few asian got assualted doesnt mean theyre being attacked lol. Theres so many asians in my community and nobody has a problem with them. Don’t amplify one bad case to make it look like this shits happening everyday and everywhere.👍🏼
I'm so happy for him that he not only got out of North Korea safely, but that he found a loving wife and created a beautiful life and family together. I wish them all the best for their future together.
ok karen
yo and his wife is south Korean perfect coincidence type thing
@@ariffansar4994 bruh
It makes me so happy to know he has a happy ending. But, I still can't help but feel so bad for all the others still stuck in Hell on Earth.
same 💔
These kind of things are always one at a time until hopefully one day, it's almost everything all at once, to riff off the movie title.
It would be great to know what North Koreans think of the United States after arriving/meeting a
Americans after being taught otherwise about us. I haven’t come across much videos about this topic.
Maurice A there are two videos by digitalsoju about North Koreans trying American bbq with an American cook and they talk about how they thought of Americans when they were in North Korea and then how they actually felt meeting Americans. It’s really interesting video and the bbq looks delicious too.
There's some videos on the channel Asian Boss where they interview North Koreans on their perspective on America before and after escaping
@@anastasia-fr1gn Iwas just about to write this same thing. "great minds think alike" LOL
Some of us are terrible, but most of us are just regular people who will go out of our way to be sweet to others. It's such a shame the worst people always have the loudest voices.
I feel like most wouldn't have a negative perception mainly because the ones trying to leave North Korea are of the mindset that there is better. They wouldn't leave North Korea if they thought badly of for example the US.
the thought of him nervously screaming i love you to her on the rollercoaster because he knew she might not hear it is so 🥺🥺
ikr, sounds like it was straight out of a k-drama 🥺
It's harder and harder now to defect from North Korea. I'm glad he made it and got help.
Maybe not anymore.
I sometimes think about asking refugees if they feel it would be a good thing if the U.S. stepped in and made it possible for all their countrymen to get the same opportunity they have now. It's a very sensitive subject, but coming from the mouth of those whom truly know the difference would be educational.
I know the US is far from perfect, but there are so much worse places to be. We are still a land of dreams for so many people. I smiled from ear to ear the whole video seeing this man find happiness and love after so long of suffering. Hearing his story reminded me that there is so much we take for granted. I wish him all the best.
Same
US is an awesome place to live. Many Americans don't realize how lucky they are.
Yeah I'm also very jealous on people living in America in our country we can only eat 1 time a day and work for 14 hours even tho we are still kids
@@shawnlynch9658 many really do take it for granted
Most of the world is a worse place to be than the US. Americans just like to victimize themselves and pretend that they are oppressed when in reality they aren’t. When outsiders and foreigners appreciate your country more than you do, that’s when you should take a step back and realize you’re just a privileged, self victimized asshole
My heart is soooooo ecstatic for him. I’m thrilled that he survived and can tell this story to his children and future grandchildren. I pray and hope he can enjoy his life with his new family and be happy forever.
I love this video so much. I’m so happy for him, I almost cried. Two years of torture for wishing for his basic necessities to be met. That’s insane, I literally can’t imagine how hard that was. God bless them, I wish the best for this family.
Is he still working as a chef?? Now with the coronavirus, I’m worried that he might’ve lost his job
I'm wondering the same thing! I hope him and his family are okay.
I wish we could find out and set up a go fund me or something. I hope he is alright.
My aunt who’s a chef in the us Maryland sadly lost his job
@@cherrycheryl her*
south korea is pretty organised when it comes to this. i’ve seen a lot of cafes still open, and delivery services are in top notch condition. he could easily deliver food.
His relationship with his wife... I literally teared up😔
That part honestly made me so happy for them
Oh my gosh as a Korean speaker who speaks Korean as a second language his Korean sounds so different his dialect is strange
Well it's a North Korean dialect probably.
yeah apperantly that's pretty accurate to how south koreans feel. It can be a huge cultural barrier for these people.
North Korean is just... straight korean haha. Since the country is cut off from the rest of the world it has no influence from other countries unlike South Korea
@@Nijilove78 yeah i'm aware of that the south Korean dialect uses english sounding words where as the North Korean dialect does not it sounds old fashion which makes sense cause North Korea is waaaaaay behind in the years compared to the rest of the world
@@Nijilove78 is north korean dialect how people in korea used to talk before the korean war?
This is literally a real-life version of crash landing on you, but without the elitism and it takes place in America.

Omg you're right lmfaoo instead of Switzerland it's USA 😂
bruh he also has the same name too “hyun” 🤭
I absolutely loved that drama! I want North Korea to be liberated so badly!
He's been through so much and still he's come out the other side smiling. Such a good man, and I can only wish him and his family nothing but joy in their lives. At this point, he's more than earned it.
This is the most wholesome comment section on UA-cam.
This is the first time I liked every single commenter.
As an American, I am so happy for this man! He not only escaped his country, but found love, made his dreams come true, and had a adorable child! It makes me so happy that they view the US in a positive light 💗
Soon He will want to escape this HELLMERICA !!!
Its cruel to say this but i’m glad North Korea’s leader is extremely sick...i pray that all North Koreans get to live in freedom and happiness one day and aren’t taught such cruel, false things about the outside world bc i know they may perceive us as worse 😒
Its not cruel. It shows you dont only have a heart but know when to/not be compassionate.
i mean does it even matter that the dictator dies?
at the end of the day a dictator is not more than the puppet of the military.
I totally get you, don’t worry. As a South Korean, I can say that it’s a shared sentiment by many. We definitely feel for the North Korean citizens. But unfortunately, history shows that the dictatorship continues. The only difference this time is that the pig doesn’t have an heir to pass the role to if anything was to happen soon. But I imagine another person is probably prepped 😕
DummyDummy there r rumors that his sister will take over if he dies
@@kea8349 he has kids. i think his sister would probably take over as a proxy leader until his son is of age

if "No confidence" is escaping a country and rebelling against a government then idk what confidence is
He has such a cheerful, positive energy! ^__^ It hurts to know that at one point he was being tortured and starved everyday for two years straight T__T To be able to go through that and be where he is now is amazing. What an awesome human being
He got everything you could ever want out of this life - freedom, job, spouse, children. So happy for him!
He genuinely seems like one of the nicest people I’ve ever seen. His attitude is so amazing and I hope he and his family are happy forever ❤️
03:46 that’s honestly the cutest thing ever bruh
He seems like such a sweet attentive father
I can tell acts of service are a big way he shows his love to his wife ❤
It’s easy to be born an American and take everything for granted. We hear all these horrible things in the media constantly and we should always strive for better but also remember. We are lucky to be Americans. And we have life so easy compared to our grandparents and so on.
we have; ;bad dopamine addictions
Universal Analysis we certainly do
Damm what a story to tell. Bless this man.
This is the best video UA-cam’s ever recommend to me. So wholesome and I’m so happy for this man & his family
Thanks for watching! 😊
This was so precious. I'm so glad he was able to escape and is now living a life as he pleases. We take our freedom for granted, and watching these types of videos really puts it into perspective. I feel blessed to be born where I'm free to be myself, free to have my own beliefs, and free to live. I hope this couple lives a long and happy life together as a little family!
What a beautiful story. I'm so glad he is in the US.
the way he’s smiling like a kid, it lifts me up.
"Where all dreams come true"
These many years I felt this idea is.... Outdated. This video brings back the hope that was long lost. It motivates us to come out of our comfort zone.
this vid is a light at the end of the tunnel
Well, tbh we’re just pretty spoiled. I imagine he’s just happy having a comfortable home, plenty of food, TV, etc. which are just the basics that most ppl in US have. Not everyone’s going to be a millionaire, and you do have to work for a living, but most of us have the essentials and maybe we should appreciate that more than we currently do.
Great point
Where dreams go to DIE would be more realistic for the average person
Welcome to the US, I'm glad to have people like you here!
He got his happy ending 🥺 so happy for them!
This was so cute. I love his love for roller coasters and his wife. I'm glad he's here in America and hopefully gains citizenship here and prospers and lives the American dream.

These are the kind of people that we need to come to America. grateful to be here.

The cutest baby I've ever seen
His happy face genuinely made me cry. It’s the simplest things that we don’t appreciate that means a lot to others :)
I’m so happy he’s living a good life dude, fuckin good for him

@Anticapitalist X eye-
Anticapitalist X, Hello again in another comment thread, Fuck off :)
@Anticapitalist X yeah, surely laying people off because businesses aren't sustainable during a global pandemic would NEVER exist under communism.
I wish people like you would know how painful it was to grow up in the USSR, let alone north korea.
@Anticapitalist X you again?
@@player80716450 Actually despite their faults socialism and communism wouldn't lay people off, the government would give you a stipend. I doubt North Korea would do jack shit for it's citizens but in the communist states of Asia and the socialist states of Europe everyone in the country that has been furloughed due to Covid-19 is receiving monthly payments from the government to pay their bills and food costs. Is the US doing that for the tens of millions that can't go to work? If not then Anticapitalist X was correct in his assessment that at the moment this North Korean would be better off in a less capitalist country.
oh my gosh >_< the elevator story! haha! so cute how amusing he found it!
