Nathan is meant to be more than a gold medal winner in the Olympics. He is gifted in so many ways. He should be given opportunities something like he did with Elton John. Performing on film, more music videos, commercials, ice performances, coaching, choreography. He is a national treasure and we should have the honor of enjoying his gift. Gifted obviously, kind, humble, smart and it would be an honor to see him in as many venues as possible. That with statistician to the world.
So true. For most athletes, being an Olympian (or in Nathan’s case, Olympic Champion) is the peak of their careers and lives. With Nathan, I get the sense that this is just the beginning for him. He’s very bright and apparently wants to go to medical school after completing his undergrad at Yale. We should highlight more people like Nathan - he reminds me of the best of us.
I do love Nathan. He is my favourite because of his artistry, athleticism, humbleness and masculinity. I loved his 2022 Olympics performance both the SP and FS, which I keep re-watching. Our Nathan is the 2022 Olympics Champion, three times World Champion and World Record holder in SP, FS and CT❤❤❤ Thank you Nathan.
So happy to have stumbled upon this interview. Nathan is an example of the best part of America. It's really nice to be reminded of what that looks like. I'm so proud of him. And it's also great to remember how much I love Scott. What a genuine and precious soul.
I love watching this after seeing Nathan completely fulfill and exceed so many expectations during the Beijing Olympics. As a bonus, it is fun that he grew up in my hometown of SLC. My oldest daughter went to two schools with Nathan (she was just a year younger than him), so she has been following his skating career since he was a little kid. It is also cool that I work as a musician at one of the places where he took dance classes.
Congratulations Nathan! You deserve that gold medal! What a delightful young man you are! With a great attitude! Super roll model for young men in the male skating world! My son figure skated from age 3-17 years. Competitive ( 8 to 17). Couldn’t get the triples! (John’s roll models were Scott Hamilton & Paul Wylie! I admire you & your parents for your love & dedication, I know what it takes! The things John learned through his skating training has formed the person he is today! He is a good sport He is a hard worker, never gives up, & is very & personal person! So happy for you and good luck in whatever you do in the future I-will continue to follow your career!
Loved this interview. I have been a fan of figure skating for over 30 years and never get tired of all the amazing programs and fabulous talented skaters that I've seen. ❤
I love this interview! And now, what a joy that Nathan has fulfilled his destiny! Now, like Scott, he's an Olympic champion, forever an Olympic champion! Legends both! 🥇🥇🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸❤🤍💙🤘😎🥇🥇⛸⛸
I just noticed the rabbit plate on the kitchen wall. 1999 = Year of the Rabbit. Cool, Nathan's a rabbit! Best wishes for the coming year's competition!
Even the interview was world class...I think Nathan 's family coming over to the US in 1988..his mother did not even speak English....and guiding the family along the way and Scott bringing out the synagy, an understanding to the audience what being a champion is all about..both having shared experience was remarkable...My observation he has that Ballet training coupled with the Gymnastics and the work ethic that sets him apart.. A joy to witness and watch...speed coupled with grace....unbeatable
Just stumbled onto this, was a huge fan of Scott's back in the day. I think Nathan is such a great example to young people regardless of financial status here in the US. His parents didn't have the money to afford him to become an Olympian, but they supported him in that dream anyways. I also think it is cool that his first Olympic Gold medal was in his parents' home town/country. What an amazing family!
I love this young man he is the best I've ever seen. I'm sad just knowing that he will stop skating, he probably will go to another olympics I hope because it's so enjoyable to watch him. Nathan so proud you won gold at 2022 olympics.
Scott Hamilton is my all time favorite skater and OG.. love both of them! Thank you for speaking on getting nervous in competitions and 'if i'm not nervous, something's wrong..' and that edge in being in the moment, gratitude, competitive performance, working with nerves and that building process of staying hungry.
Love you Scott!! you're such a cornerstone of the figure skating community, your opinions and comments always ring true. Nathen Chen is totally amazing, just the number of clean programs he's done is mind-blowing. I wish you guys all the best for yourselves and your families. Stay safe and healthy out there. :)
Es un joven maravilloso. Único e irrepetible. Llego a la perfección en su patinaje además le agrego pasión sentimiento. Su dominio de su cuerpo y perfeccion . simplemente lo amo. Podrían traducir al español esta entrevista. Gracias
americans always acting like they have the best in the world when it's not like that... Nathan is a great, actually amazing skater though but calling him the best in the world is a stretch
Nathan Chen has won every competition since the Olympic Games in 2018, the only undefeated male skater since. The record seems to suggest he is the best the past two years. A stretch for what?!
Jack Chih-Chieh Chen first of all, he is overscored and second, just because he’s had good seasons doesn’t make him the greatest. if i do recall, he wasn’t even in the podium in the last olympics? he’s a great athlete all i’m saying is he’s not the best. he has the technical ability but lacks in other areas, he’s at his peak and he still hasn’t achieved what the greatest in the sport have so let’s just wait and see
@@soberlust I don't think Scott meant to say Nathan was the best in history. If a track record of two years being undefeated would not make him the best at the moment, I don't know what else to say. No, Nathan Chen was not on the podium in the last OG, but recall how he faltered terribly in SP and came back to win in LP. Every top skater has been over scored, and Nathan Chen is no exception. But you have to admit being undefeated for two years when a skater like Yuzuru Hanyu is still competing is quite an accomplishment. It's unfortunate that you don't seem to be able to accept that. Not to mention, Nathan Chen accomplished this while attending Yale. Going into the 2014 OG, you would be crazy not to say Patrick Chan wasn't the best. It would be foolish to say Chan was not even on the podium in the 2010 OG, and thus Plushenko was the best. Similarly, a year or two after Yuzuru Hanyu won the 2014 OG, it would be crazy to continue to call Chan the best. In 2015-2018, the best would have to be Hanyu or Fernandez.
Nathan not only won every competition since March 2018. Look at the advantage over second place ! It was nearly 48 points in Milano (2018 Worlds), 22.45 points in Saitama (2019 Worlds) and nearly 44 (!) points at last GPF in Torino ...At 2019 Skate America his advantage (44 points) was the highest in history of the competition. Overscored, underscored, properly scored he would win by a lot of points !

Two Olympic Champions ! 🥇🥇
Nathan Chen is just incredible. I can't believe this talent! So proud that he is representing our country (what is left of it!)

Nathan is so down to earth. So humble and wise! You just can't help but loving him!

You are right. No one can beat him except himself.

I love Nathan, but man does he own an article of clothing that isn’t a Nike product?
Scott was talking too much mostly saying about himself, we wanted to hear Nathan more. I didn’t like that interview
