    @ Jean Taes, after 2 full years of use I do still love my Denon. I don't really understand how you figured I was "highly biased" I did say they were very comparable each had its strengths and weaknesses and the main reason why one would chose the Pioneer would be to compliment the CDJ Decks. One thing I noticed I did screw up on was at the end where I said Pioneer had a slight edge on quality my bad I was strictly referring to the slight distortion at max levels only ( which can be solved by engaging the limiter on the Denon). One thing I have noticed and will agree with you is longevity Denon is superior, I'm a part of the Pioneer forums and all I hear is complaints from Pioneer owners about the quality of most of their products, they seem to be more interested in pumping out new products rather than improving and fixing the current products.
    Thumbs up to all that have sided with Denon it makes me glad I chose it over the DJM900. Remember people this was a quick review based on a few hours of use not long term IMO I don't thing you could really go wrong with either of the 2 but to correct my statement at the end of the video Denon would have the slight edge in overall quality.

      The Denon only has one red LED at the top that is OL/Clip. It marks the same point as the top LED on the Pioneer. The Pioneer just happens to have two reds. Stay out of the top LED and save the one under it as emergency headroom. Simple. Actually, if you just bounce evenly around the 0dBVu point, troughs below, peaks above, you'll never even go that high.

    I like the simplicty of the FX and the quick acess to midi funtionallity on the DNX-1700. I've used Ableton alot over the year for both production and performing live. It sounds to me like Denon has really re-created alot of Lives effects like the beat repeat and the transform effect. The loop effect & the abilty to run a filter on top of all effects.To me, makes the DNX a true DJ mixer. From what i've seen in demo videos, all the effects are clean, crisp & function seamlessly out of the box

    I got mine for $ 1,749 today. The 900 is awesome and the effects are on point! Very impressed considering I still own my 800.

    Ive owned a Pioneer Djm 909 . a Djm 700 , a Rane ttm56s and now a Denon Dn-s600 . The denon has been the best by far , especially with the midi capabilities , and the onboard effects are on par with pioneer . Ill be head back to rane though because of the release of the 62 .

    the effect of the echo Denon and the echo of the pioneer which better?

  • @Reticuli

    They have the same parent company now but are independent otherwise. I can't imagine what expertise A&H has making digital djing mixers when Denon came out with them earlier. Denon also has extensive turntable, phono cartridge, mixer (analog and digital), amplifier, receivers, and preamps experience. And they have their own mastering facility. Again, the 1700 is a digital mixer. The DB2 and DB4 were A&H's first digital dj boards.

    I chose not to put it on for this comparo, reason for that I tested them both and found you lose allot of volume when the Limiter is turned down on the Denon compared to to the Pioneer. If you don't keep the limiter on the volume is the same on both mixers, the Volume does get a bit louder on the Denon but you notice the distortion.

    Hi I choose a djm 900 after using one at a club, the main reason was the sound quality, you have really have to listen to it, its the best sounding mixer pioneer have ever made, rich & warm sounding, way better than the DJM800 before it. I these mine with vinyl (mainly) & traktor scratch pro 2 DVS, for me the all the effects are a secondary bonus, as build & sound come first, price wise i managed to get a good deal @ £1200 (euro import) much less than the Denon X1700 @ £1399, (uk price)

    I'm going to take a lot of shit for this. I recently bought a new mixer. I didn't really need a new one. I've had the same Vestax PMC25 for about 12-13 years. My PMC25 still sounds & looks great. All though the PMC25 is only a 2 channel its has 6 inputs plus a mic input. I've alway like the fat knobs & kill faders on the PMC25. I really just wanted a mixer with midi function. I have Maschine so i wanted to sync Maschine to my CD playes. I bought the DDM4000, Im so impressed by this mixer so far

    if you take the time to know the denon its a monster the pioneer has build in standard limiter.
    the denon give you the power to change all of your in and out limiter or not on each channel change you cross father and bam you have a battle mixer its a shame that denon do not have alot af costumers in this price segment because it being judge by its badge. and dont forget thit was their first attempt to show what they can i can only say this RESPECT !! dn-x1700 is a monstermixer!! peace !

    !!!About distortion and dummy djs!!!
    You mention that Pioneer is for dummy DJs because you can play until red and it will not distrort, but Denon - yes.
    But look, where Denon has red lights vs Pioneer :)
    Denon: red zone >16dB
    Pioneer: red zone >7dB.
    those 9dBs mean few times weaker output signal in Pioneer at red zone :)
    So I agree: Pioneer user is really dummy, because he thinks that his mixer doesn`t distorts vs Denon
    ..... which is 9db below Denon`s red area.... :D
    PS: You forgot to mention, that Denon 1700 has it`s fantastic limiter, which works excellent. You can either enable or disable it. I`m a user of many mixers and believe me , in 1700 You cant` even recognize limiter working when pushed hard to limits.
    And in Denon the limit is at +16dB.
    Not at 7dB as in Pioneer :D
    That`s a difference in electronic inside. Denon sounds much better

    • @Reticuli
      @Reticuli 5 років тому +2

      They both clip at 0dBFS on the outputs when set properly. The Denon just has red then yellow or orange second and the Pioneer has two reds. Neither clips on the master until the top LED, though, if they're set the same. Pioneer lets you pad post-master volume, while the Denon lets you pad pre-master volume and change what max on the volume is. I prefer the Denon method, though the Pioneer is useable at least for padding the DJM for mic feeds. The newer Pioneers I believe also allow you to pad the SPDIF independently, which has basically no purpose to it, since it will still clip prior to the SPDIF if you're in double red.
      You're right that the Denon limiter is little more sophisticated. I agree the X1700's sound is way beyond the DJM900Nexus, though. It's not even close. You have to go to the MP2015 to get this caliber of sound, with maybe the DB4 trailing both of those a touch. Denon is more musical while the MP2015 is tighter and faster. The Pioneer, though, sounds FAKE and artificial.

    I have had both mixers too, keep in mind that the Denon mixer has been out for 3 years,that why it's cheaper that that 2012 nexus mixer. You need to keep it real your video time on the denon compared the pioneer is twice as long. I keep the Denon and my cdjs 2000.the denon has color effects screen, color effect button red and green.All these mixers after the Denon x 1700 is the blue print to these mixers of today. DO the time line and check out the mixers pre & post compare then Sound-wave.

    The effects on both mixers are very similar in fact most mixers share the same style of effects. Most club DJ's don't want to carry any more gear than they have to and if you know how to use the effects you can make them sound good.

    Not to take anything away from Pioneer.They've always made great mixers. I find myself asking, how much more can they pack into a mixer. A lot of the effects you hear in Pioneer demo videos take a lot of practice to perfect, You're not just going to un-box the Nexus plug it in and re-create 50% of what you hear, This is the reason you see the Same 2 guys (James Zabelia and Laidback Luke) doing Pioneer demos video, thats because these 2 are insane they actually help Pioneer with devlopment

    I totally are with you, after owning CDJ 1000 MK2 and MK3 the 900's feel cheap, I hope they last long enough, they also don't like to admit they made faulty CD players on the Pioneer DJ fourms........sad when you spend so much money.

  • @DJGRANTCARLISLE
    @DJGRANTCARLISLE 12 років тому

    From what i've seen the functionallity of the DNX-1700 is pretty straight forward. I've been playing for a long time. The 900 is great but unless you're a DJ prodigy like James Zabelia or Laidback Luke, The Nexus will get u in trouble, it has so much going on, so before you start turning knobs.You really need to take time 2 learn how everything works or you're going to look like fool. As for the DNX-1700 its a mixer for the average DJ who wants to play but have a really nice quallity FX unit

  • @nomecaca

    A&H make the best sounding mixers IMO I had a Xone 62. Denon has teamed up with A&H for the internals to the Mixer and you can tell the difference with this DN-X1700. My only beef with A&H is not enough effects unless you pay big bucks.

    I wouldn't put the DDM4000 up against either of these 2 mixers. I can with all confidence say, I would put the DDM4000 up against the DJM800 any day. When all was said and done i paid a total of $450 U.S. for the DDM. That is an insane deal for a 4 channel mixer with so many features Seriously two FX units, Built in 2 bank sampler, Midi capabilities, The ability to completely customize Gain, Hi, Mid, Low curves as well as Volume curves. I haven't been able to find any issues with it yet.

    iv owned the denon 1600 and i have to say its a great quality mixer in material and sound. the 1700 is a beast better built than the pioneer. sound color fx is a pioneer thing and its not that great and yes you can use two different effect on the 900 nexus. my current mixer i own right now is a djm900 srt. the midi on the denon is a huge plus. i can't even map controls to serato from the mixer it doesn't give me that option unless I'm using a different software. so thats a minus.

  • @yelseh
    @yelseh 12 років тому

    . djm2000 and the 800 in the local disco but i own the 1700. Every time the crowd go crazy i wish i had the Dnx . if you are creative go crazy with the effects on the dnx 1 the fabric settings you change them input and output put a limiter on each channel no distortion 2 efx1 as color effect and you ha-ve 12 loop one sample and send it to channel 1,2,3 and 4 and with the parame-ter send high or low end true and really go banana's 3 cross father setting change it into a battle mixer .

    if you're just gonna use it for cdj's then yes it's probably better, but if you're gonna use it with traktor or serato than I'd have to say the denon would beat the pioneer especially with the midi capabilities.

  • @wowerman
    @wowerman 11 років тому

    you say that denon does not have color effects, well its denon and not pioneer so unit does not have any lack of effect mentioned, once you say that denon uses quality components, 32bit sound card and feels more solid with faders, knobs and later you say that denon is not up to quality of pioneer, what the hell

    • @nomecaca
      @nomecaca  11 років тому

      where do you see color effects on the Denon?? as for quality I really haven't spent enough time (at that time) with both mixers, after a couple of years now with my Denon I can honestly say the quality is there so maybe in over all quality I might have been wrong I would say they're on par... Here's an Idea get your hands on both mixers and you do a review with your opinion.

    • @wowerman

      i see you do not understand. Denon is Denon so why do you mention that is missing something.Colour effect is not a technonogy. I is option which Denon will not have it as it has other effect so you can not say that is missing colour effects.

      wowerman bud do you work for Denon? is that why you are so defensive LOL. I understand what you mean but regardless weather you call it "Color effects" or something else it's still an option that Denon does not have, for example Honda has VTEC Toyota has VVT-i those engines basically do the same but they have different names due to the different companies & technology put into them.
      If it puts a smile on your face Denon has 2 Effect banks that can be used simultaneously which Pioneer does not have...

    • @wowerman
      @wowerman 11 років тому

      i dont work for Denon, just can not understand your opinion, you can not say o i love Pioneer because it has colour effects which denon does not have, they are two different brands witch different solutions,its always or this or that.i do not expect any smile, toyota has this honda has this, bla bla bla and vw does not, it is not an argument, just different brand.

    Highly biased and not objective...
    I've looked only the conclusion of this video and it's pretty untrustworthy. So, i also will try to avoid any longer lecture about some things like quality of the components and other arguments for the denon stuff. Just some facts:
    I've used and owned almost all Pioneer and Denon club mixers. 1. Sound quality of the Denons was always better. 2. Denons Faders, crossfader, Knobs and buttons are qualitatively better an so - more solid. Just one example - the color surface under the Pioneers 800 Crosfader was attrited/abraded after one year of scratching and the first replacement crossfader was purchased after about 8 months of using. The final result of my choice is the Denon DNX 1700.
    I admit - i'm also not objective because i don't use the cd or other mediaplayers this is why some things and functions inside of the pioneer system are insignificant for me just because i prefer turntables. But in case of quality, scope of functions and the most important thing - sound quality (also of the effects), there is definitely one leader. And it's not the Pioneer. ;) They are leaders in good marketing, high costs and so poor price-performance ratio and pretty boring product design. And yes, it's also a big question of faith for the Pioneer fans. You only look "straight ahead" and for them there is no other alternatives ever. ;)

    • @Reticuli
      @Reticuli 7 років тому

      Internally, the Pioneer is based on their mid-fi receivers. The Denon is based on their high-end receivers, but is further boosted up in design by twin exotic power supplies and discrete component phono, mic, and headphone stages. That said, I don't think most people would hear a difference in most venues with untreated surfaces around.
