We are conduits of love to all of God's creation unless we limit that creation to only special people and parts of that creation and exclude other parts. When we limit our love to only special ones, we will limit God's gifts to ourselves. So specialness is what plugs up God's grace working through us. It is our relations with others that limit us and it's our belief that they are guilty that does that. We are punishing them instead of forgiving and loving them. What we do to others, we do to ourselves. When we forgive others, we know God forgives us and we are freed up. Sacrificing others and ourselves will not do that nor will thinking Jesus sacrificed himself for our sins do that. Only forgiveness frees our minds, metanoia. "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love."
