Tips for people. 1.) the right side of the screen tells you building options for example press G to get grid lines to line things up at a distance. 2.) the right side of the screen also says to allow overlap by pressing "I believe" B this allows you to build in places you couldn't before. 3.) go for automation 3 as soon as possible it's absolutely amazing and a big game changer. 4.) use the shovel for flatting land. 5.) stairs are your scaffolding they are easy to place and easy to remove. 6.)if you thinking kage is building big I'll tell you this what kage is building in this game it's tiny it's like building a 1x1 structure equivalent in other survival games. 7.) there are other traps you can set up around for base defense. 8.) how to protect the elevator either set traps or dig a big enough space around it. My recommendation is to use stairs and small stone floors and spiral the stairs around the elevator.
I agree base building games should give 100% of the resources back. I also understand why some people prefer not. Ideally there would be an option that you can adjust to your personal gameplay preferences so people who want 100% resources back can and people who think you shouldn't get resources back or not all the resources back can adjust it to their preference. I think that would be more enjoyable for a larger group of players.
building down will access better materials. building up accesses the surface for Boar and encloses your elevator to protect it from damage. upper levels surrounding the elevator are handy.
Not sure if it's been mentioned, you can turn off snapping, free placing, when placing foundations, etc. Look at the right side of the screen when you have an item selected to build. Should be able to overlap anything. It's actually hitting 'B' to allow overlap and still have snapping on. Hope this helps. If you've got any direct connect to the developers, tell them they need to add a sort to the inventory.
Yes wood roots are wood "deposits" (And yes you Sell the 200 tools when done with the quest making fat stacks.) Make potions with plants collected after you buy crafting potions in upgrade/research desk. Or just find/buy enough potions to turn in quest. 19:45 craft ladders and stairs Kage. Your base is looking great! But you're going to need a lot(!) more room when you start automation, so I would expand downwards and use explosions. Explosions are really fun, and I hope you get to play with them soon!
you probably want to build down as the better resources are farther down. also have you thought maybe if you dig out the rock surrounding your elevator so there is no way the enemies can attack it if they cant get to it. does the game have, take all button? and a way to label your storage boxes or a sort button for the storage boxes as well as inventory? great vid cant wait to see how your base turns out.
1:36 yes it's time for you to put turrets everywhere around the elevator at every floor stopping location as well as making sure that the shaft does not touch the actual walls that way no matter what they can't touch it😊
I’d like to see you build both up and down. You will need all the space you can get and will most likely want to build a bank vault close to your current area that is well protected. This area can take a lot of room because you will start growing your coins and need a lot of area to store all of it.
I find that the foundations behave funky with the other pieces, and I have stopped using them altogether. They don't seem to have snap points on the bottom which is a problem for building lower levels. I just use wall pieces and floors. I would highly recommend building back more from the deposits. You are going to need a lot of space, and I mean a LOT! Think Moria degrees of big, lol! I haven't found a way to delete the empty deposits. They just stand there saying depleted, which gets in the way. Another reason to give yourself distance from them for your main base. Elevators are kind of a special case thing. You can only build 3 stops max on an elevator. I personally build each stop in a fortified location. One at the surface, then inside main base, then down at the level I have production going with a mini base with guns/traps around it.
You should try the seed, 31415926. Big ice mnt right in the middle of the map. And just build straight down. Make your fortress one big staircase right down. And only build in stone as, your an F'ing dwarf, not a tree hugging elf. Remove the dirt. No path no way for them to get in. Unless they can spawn inside your base. If so that needs to change. And craft from containers needs to be a thing in this game
For elevators, wouldn't it be better to place a beacon down where you want it, then go to the surface, locate the beacon so it's directly below and start digging down. Place shafts as you go.
You already have an elevator going to the surface so there's not much point in building your base upwards. Start going down as you're likely to find higher level minerals further down. Also what about stacking stone walls around your elevator to keep it safe from goblins and orcs, then just put doorways on the elevator stops
A) I've been telling you through the screen, you missed a little dirt, that's why some blocks won't snap. B) Build down. You can always place a platform in between to get closer to the surface.
I'm not sure if I have seen you use the shovel yet? If I am not mistaken, they may fill the holes around your foundation so you don't fall in them. It's a little quirky to use.
Why not just build in both directions? Have the elevator inside the base (surrounded by walls) and then you can have it going to the surface since there are doors and stuff. Best of both worlds.

Both up, and down? Make an underground dwarven fortress!
With the shovel you can terraform. You can raise or lower large areas of land. Very useful.

10:14 you also came across a ancient root that will provide you with wood if you put a miner on it

try the B button to allow overlap. it might let you place that foundation.

I think you should build stairs all the way down... and build FOB's along the way to the bottom.....

Shovel is better for digging out and leveling areas. It exposes ores as well with destroying them.

Great base, but it can be better! Build *down*, that the Dwarven way, but not too greedily, or too deep...
why not expand both ways the kingdom under the mountain was still partially at the top so why not have a grand entrance to your kingdom below.
