I really like the C300 MKIII; I am a Canon fan. I am currently using the Canon M50 which I bought after seeing your recommendation for it and I am very glad I did. I would love to get a more cinema camera like the C300 MK III, only the cost is stopping me.
I was tempted by the FX9 but went for the Canon in the end. It came down to a few things - my EF lenses, my love for my old C100 and the wonderful images it created, and my preference for Canon colour science. Though I do have an A6300 that I've used WAY more than I expected - so much respect to Sony also.
"Entry" "Done" there is definitely a reason for us saying entry done ; I feel like a drone will really be able to help out with my vlogs and stock footage shots :) Thanks!
So basically, if you expose the Sony properly it out preforms the Canon. Yeah, the canon might perform better 6 stops under, but I cannot tell you a time I have ever aimed to expose 6 stops under on a professional shoot. The solution if you are in low light situation? Add more light. I will say the shadow recovery on the canon is promising. I personally shoot on the A7sii and will soon receive the A7siii once it releases, and the reason I never considered the FX7ii or the FX9 was the incompatibility with most consumer gimbals seeing as the FX7ii and FX9 had such long bodies. That is why I personally prefer the A7sii and A7siii. I agree with your points saying the C300Mii might be easier to stabilize because of the smaller body size, however I think most professional shooters who buy these cameras will always aim to expose their cameras properly rather than 6 stops under. I think the clear winner if you are operating the camera correctly, and have the support equipment to handle the Fx9, Sony is the winner in my books. Yeah it might be more expensive, but at this level of price, most professionals are going for quality over convenience.
Honestly the Canon is amazing to me. We need to see a lot more cameras with this dual gain output sensor. It's early technology, but it will get even better as it matures; love the vids man.

As an Arri user, I'd just like to say what, and Sony users don't? 😂. They're continually banging on about it, despite the colour science from Sony still lagging far behind other offerings.
16:55 Since the the Canon R range will also accept EF lenses with a very affordable adapter and EF lenses are aguably among the best there are, while also beeing the most wide spread lenses around (and chances are, that if you are a professional video guy, you already got some of those or at least access to those anyways), there really is no predicament there.
I've mentioned it before (and I'm sure others have too): Having people enter by commenting is not a good way to go about it. Get one of the competition services; or hell just some simple online form set up. It'll make the comments actually bareable and your life easier as it'll be easier to pick a winner.
Can someone please clarify? You compare 35mm sensor with a full frame sensor. I've seen others do it too I think. Looking it up, a full frame sensor IS a 35mm sensor.
Super35 is different. For the vast majority of filmmaking, cinematographic history, film was used but in the vertical format, and the super35 sensor is identical to film used by filmmakers for decades and decades and decades, for over 80 or more years. Even when digital became the go to medium, S35 sensors dominated and it's only on the last 5 years or so that fill frame sensors have gained popularity and are becoming more common. Full frame is the same as 35mm when we're talking stills photography, but in cinematography, if someone is comparing film to sensors, then full frame is LARGER.....S35, as seen in the Canon C300 mark III is the same as film in filmmaking when film was still used.
As someone who has been in the industry for over 37 years, Super 35 is still the most common forms in Hollywood and full frame (and larger) is only relatively recently becoming more of a common sight. Honestly people like you make me laugh. They said the same about MFT and yet Nat Geo features are still riddled with great operators using MFT
@ what you say makes very little sense. shooting with FF is like painting with a larger canvas. Stick with what you know but the world has moved on. It’s probably time you upgrade. oh, and by the way, most everything now is shot on the LF or Sony FF.
@JerzzyJoe National Geographic, Discovery, Civilisation, the BBC, Channel 4 and others are still sending me around the world on commission using S35. Must be doing something right.
Why is everyone typing entry done, anyway, would love to have that drone, trying to afford one but as a teenager with no job its quite hard If I would for some reason win, would love to have it signed
Actually an very good side-by-side comparison. Very interesting that the Canon holds more in the shadows and the Sony in the highlights. I would like to see what options in terms of gimbals go well with each, because if the Canon could go on for example, a Ronin-s, that would be significant for one-man band type shooting. As much as like the full-frame thing, lens options for a super 35 sensor are a lot cheaper and more abundant.
;I'm a little late but.... Most people are using the colon instead of the semi-colon..... So I'm taking a chance. Mavic air will be a great pair with my x-t30.

Jet I love your complete and thorough videos, and I'm late to the game (meaning I just watched this video)... will you have another video taking into consideration of Sony's updated firmware to the FX3? Curious about your thoughts... but not sure if you already addressed this in another video. Discovered your channel a while ago but have not had the time to view your media. I look forward to your conclusions. Just FYI... I have an FX3 and FX6... your analysis is valuable to me. Thx!
I like how the sony looks more than the canon in the early test shots. the extra DR doesn't really show the FX9 already does 4k 60 with 2.0 it will now doing it oversampled. their lack of 240 or faster high framerate options is kinda weird. sounds like they are bringing 4k 120 as an option externally but you need theXDCA-FX9. my old FS700R can do 240 at 2k running to an external recorder, sony use to have good high framerate options.
@@krane15 2k 240 is as hard as 4k 60 and nothing says they have to make high framerate internal. really the FX9 and FS700R are close in price at launch accounting for inflation
Hey, you should do an anamorphic video. Comparing some of the top of the line scopes and some of the budget friendly anamorphic or something. Maybe even interview an expert. Budget Single Focus Anamorphic is still in it's infancy. Maybe if more people keep talking about them, a lot more R&D will get put into them so they're more readily available.
