My 17 year old 1.4L VW Beetle convertible sailed through its MOT check today, requiring no work at all, so another 12 months of happy motoring. Yeah it's rubbish I guess, but it's paid for and I don't have to worry about it getting damaged. I couldn't live with the stress of owning an expensive car, especially these supercars. I paid £3,200 for it 6 years ago, and it's probably still worth about that now, if I sold it in the summer. Love the car, even if it is German.
The Yellow McLaren P1 wasn't driven there, it was parked in a garage with a Bentley, there was a flood and both the cars was washed out of the garage and the McLaren ended up stuck on top of a toilet. Tavarish is currently in the process of rebuilding it.
Its only when you see a supercar in reality that you know you want one. And so it has been for me from childhood. Maybe its age. I am 58. Cant see how I will ever own one but I am not even sure I want one anymore. There is only so much power you can actually use. These days, that power is insane and hugely difficult to control. I see how the ones that are leaving a venue want to burn it a bit to show off the sound, the acceleration but the loss of traction causing a tail out move looks scarily easy to do. When can u actually use the performance? How often? Yet that is the main reason u buy one. I would hate to work myself to the bone to discover my dreamcar doesnt have a great turning circle, the bumpers and spoilers are so low normal roads and driveways will damage them, repair costs or insurance premiums are insane, u cant see properly all around you, u struggle to get in and out, u must use official technicians, fuel economy sucks eggs because you rev the engine, your friends will envy you not make you popular, girls want you because of your car not you and the list goes on. Do I want a supercar? I honestly dont know. The speed and power are death traps already. Yes, I am getting old.
