The thing you need to understand is that until recently, the game had a massive botting problem. Basically, you had thousands of bots playing TF2, picking Sniper, and insta-headshotting anyone within a 360 degree line of sight. It's less that people think if a Sniper is good they must be a cheater and more so that most TF2 cheaters pick Sniper.
ehhh… its not like Yajirobe is a hard character to win with. Top tier, can heal off of one knockback, is great for camping and cheesing. I mean this is like shaming someone for quitting against Steve, lol

yajirobe only cost 2 points if your really scared of someone camping you with him just make him one of your back up characters honestly i have used him as my final character a few times in dp battles since i try to make a team of 5 with weaker character time will usually run out before i get to use him or i will just win before using him but if i see another yajirobe i will just switch to him as well
Yajirobe is a cheap character simply by design, on the list of cheap characters he's second behind giants, it's not even lore accurate I just think the devs did that because noone cared to play him before release.
