  • Overview of how I built my Nano Leaf replica using Akyelle's model. This was supposed to be a quick video but seems to have ended up MUCH longer! Also when I went to the wide angle I didn't notice that the phone was picking up the edge of the mount I was using to hold it. Ah well, live and learn!

    will you be able to make a video and showing us how to make that power commander unit for Led's? that will be amazing thanks in advance

      That was only a test unit, I have been documenting the build of a new controller ua-cam.com/video/LJzIv9S_UjE/v-deo.html is the first video, tomorrow i have a video that will show the circuit and PCB I am designing that could be worth a watch ;)

      @@smartroadbiker it will be great if you'll make it and put some links for us to buy, I did watch that video, for me being such a noob, I didn't got much from it, it is one part where you fast forward, lost it all hahaha, I did really enjoy the previous one with the panels, and till now I was thinking I just want light in it, when I've seen your one, I decided... I want the same as you 🤣

      Glad you at least enjoyed the video! I have had to order 5 of the PCBs so will have extras that I might put up for sale, probably only at cost. Although it would be on the understanding that they are very much the prototypes, so may be errors and problems with them!

    What is the wall count for the diffusers? And did the diffuser not get blocked by the wirings?

      2 walls and no, it takes a little work to get the wiring to not show a shadow (as I mention in the video :)). Worse case, use some hot glue to secure the wires out of the way.

    What type of filament did you use for the translucent parts? I have white and regular (natural) white pla but it still gives a yellow shine.

      Thanks for watching! I used a white "silk" PLA. Unfortunately it isn't sold anymore so can't provide a link 😔 I have tried a few different filaments before I stumbled on that one.

      Transparent petg works really well as a diffuser.

    Would’ve been easy to wire up before you stuck led into 3D print housing module ??

      Probably yes! But I also wanted to keep the wires as short as possible and make sure the strips were in the right place as well.

    The lights you are using look different than Akyelle's. Do you have a link?

      Mine are 60LED/m WS2812 strips.       Do you think doing strips of 5 or 6 LEDs would have given better coverage into the corners? and what about 12 volts? would that possibly help with the dimming last panel?

      Sorry just saw your questions! I did think I could have extended the number of leds to 6 per strip, which would increase brightness in the corners. That would come at a higher power consumption though, which is why I stuck to 4.
      12v would reduce the effect of the voltage drop meaning more consistent brightness. Although since this video I don't seem to notice the dimming as much, so not sure what is going on!

      @@smartroadbiker ok, good to know. I've never worked with electronics this my gaff of blowing out one strip in my attempt to doing a full length, double strip fixture.
      My next attempt will be following your guide. I may push it to 5 or 6 LEDs and use a 12v power. I'll likely be back to probe your brain!

      Make sure the strip you are using is a 12V strip. If it is a 5V strip applying 12V will kill it!

      Hi Laurynas, no I haven't sanded the surface. I am using a the textured build surface with my Prusa Mk3S though. That said it the diffusion is just from the model being thin enough and that the filament I used is slightly translucent.

      Unfortunately it isn't sold anymore. It was a white silk PLA though. It had a slight translucent look to it.

      It's the 3D lens included with the model, the filament is a Silk PLA, but it isn't available anymore 😢

      0.2mm, I think it is the default in prusa slicer 😀
