Hi, I bought a new lock for my dads back door as at 89 years old he is not as well as he used it be, What I wanted was a keyed lock with a turnbuckle on the inside so that he could not lock us out, he had a fall and because his key was in the back of the lock we had to break a window to get in. When I went to the locksmith to get some more keys I was told that the code on my key had to be sent to Italy, and then he would then get another code back that would enable him to cut the new keys. As a result of this, I had to wait 3 days before I could get the extra keys, and they cost me about twice as much as normal keys. Watching his videos, I've learned that the Avocet ABS was the one that made him work the hardest (most steps) and required even a special little magnet to pick. No way that any regular picker would bother with all that. However, the one that he couldn't pick and one of much simpler construction was the Bowley. Fairly common locks in Iranian apartment locks when I was there for a visit. Can't tell if they've been modified so that extra pins actually come into play, but I'll have a look when I go back.
Have you ever checked out car shifter/gear lever locking systems? Nowadays it seems like it's one of the best ways to protect your car from theft, but I'm wondering how do they fare against picking. Most popular ones out here are by Bear-Lock, they seem to be based on some sort of a dimple core.
I'd definitely like to watch how he would pick this lock installed inside the actual door where there's no tactile feedback to his left hand. And a surround noise level is an actual street.
Dylan Brockman - I always see LPL as a purist. He’s got amazing technique because he examines and understands each lock. I’ve no doubt he could pick a dozen of these in a row without seeing a key. Other locksporters have more of a practical background from being locksmiths or law enforcement and so perhaps don’t approach with the same level of clinical technique but, make no mistake, I’d stack LPL against any of them even if the lock was a mystery and a key not seen. If you check some of his older videos when he was starting out in lock sport, he made pretty short work, (for the most part), of some tricky challenge locks from the likes of Papa Gleb and Texas Jim. Seeing a key is definitely not a must for him to be able to pick the lock. You should check them out. It’s remarkable how very little has changed except from an increase in production value.
being able to see the key really only helps when the lock has some kind of unusual aspect to it (like the 2 rows of 5 pins in this lock) since you have to feel your way through the lock rather than see what you're doing. Someone like LPL, who has had his picks in just about every kind of lock imaginable, would only need a moment of digging around the lock to feel whats going on inside.
@@adamwest8711 I'll check them out, thanks! From the videos I've seen I have little doubt this is the case. We can all disregard @f lucifer's rude comment.

So I've been thinking about this for a while and I believe I've come up with what would technically be an unthinkable lock. The most keys are single-sided, maybe double-sided, so I'm thinking a triple-sided key with 10 pins per side for a total of 30 pins. The lock has two keys, and both keys have to be turned at the same time but at different speeds. Basically the goal is to make it require way more mechanical input then someone could physically do. The only thing left at that point was just be making sure that they made it out of something other than paper mache so you couldn't just bust it open
Might I recommend trying to pick a MUL-T-LOCK. They are fitted so that if you lose a key you can insert another one to lock that key out. This would imply if you tried to pick it, it would lock the original key out. Unfortunately each key costs like £20 so I don’t know if you want to spend that kind of money on this kind of lock but it may give you a challenge... tbh you’ll probably open it instantly 🤦♂️
If you see this, I believe this is the lock that I would like you to try and pick: www.mul-t-lock.com/en-GB/site/mul-t-lock/products/cylinders/cylinders/euro-cylinder/
Language question: When LPL says that a pin is "binding", does he mean that the pin is in the act of fastening to something, or is it that the pin itself is a binding-type of pin? This may be obvious to native speakers, but I just cannot figure it out myself.
The former. If I myself get it correctly, being in no way a lockpicker myself (legally forbidden in my country), he means that the pin in question is the one that is currently binding against lock body, and so it is the one he needs to lift into the shear position in order to advance picking the lock.
I'm a novice lockpicker, and what the Russian dude just said is correct, except that it is the driver pin that is "stuck", but you feel it in the key pin when you try to lift it.
How much more difficult would the lock be to pick if he hadn’t seen the key first? Now he knows what he is facing when he starts picking, but I guess it would be more difficult starting picking with no info on how the lock is designed.

@@danielkorladis7869 And expansive one :| I think they've got two product and the cheapest one is 150 USD, and each suppl. are like 20$ a piece. But, yeah, they look legit :)
I really like that pin tray Bill CnC'd you. So clean and so personalized.
I will change my lock after that video, coz im living in İstanbul & using that lock brand (same model) btw thanks for the video
All of these videos give me a few ideas for locks, although I think they would be bulky. Maybe good for dead bolts.
LPL : This is a turkish HIGH security lock.
Also LPL : Picks lock in about 2 minutes :)
Insane security lock, takes 10 seconds extra :)
Also LPL: From the same chinese factory
That 2 minute pick time is longer than some videos
@@MisterJackTheAttack Agreed, but if your "high security lock" takes 2 minutes for a picker, then it's not very secure.
There are locks that take a lot longer to pick or is even unpickable, so if the benchmark for calling it high security is 2 minutes, then the bar has not been set very high.
@@JohnDoe-bd5sz don't forget LPL is essentially a God at lock picking so 2 minute pick for him is 20 minutes for a two bit theif
Hello LPL, I decided to get into lock picking as a hobby after watching you. I just ordered a nice lock pick set and some locks.
Same, mine should be coming today
The Outhouse Studios nice. Mine should be here at the end of the week. What set did you get?
I want to do the same, but I'm currently unemployed... So I'd better use my time looking for a job...
radi become a locksmith
DAF is a manufacturer itself in Turkey, so I suspect the Italian brand you mentioned must be made by them as well
You are simply the most gifter picker ever! Amazing
I look forward to seeing locks picked where they actually are, on houses, buildings, fences etc.
LPL, when I first subbed to your channel you had about 200k subs which might have been only a year ago or so. Congrats on the tremendous growth and keep up with the great content! Cheers!
Woah LPL! It took you 2 mins to open a lock! Must be a pretty badass lock!!
Or he's losing his touch ;)
The noise and imagine a lock that has been used for about 5 years with all the dust and corossion in it.
Interesting to see a lock from my country after a lot videos
I saw the 10 minute video length and thought "I've gotta get this lock" and then it was just the disassembly that took so long lol
I'd like to see him put that lock back together again to factory specs.
Could you approach this lock and others and pick them successfully without seeing the key? Love the channel by the way. Keep up the good work.
I was wondering this as well! Looks like a tricky lock unless you have an idea of what to expect, but I'm no expert. Let us know LPL!
😎😎you are flipping amazing buddy another great video for my library. Thank you for great videos..glad your putting it back together lol.🌟⭐🌟⭐🌟😎
Ten minute video? This gonna be good
i watch your videos like i am solving math questions.
i say mostly if i give 2 minutes for. problem, an avarage student can solve this problem in 6 or 7 minutes 😂
i see that my door lock can be opened in 2 minutes by LPL and i am sure that any thief try to open it 😂😂
greetings from turkey 👍🏻
Looks like a decent lock
I'm watching this on my TV, and it's showing the great detail on your table and the cylinder - time to bring out the mask and/or fingerprint cleaner.
Amazing stuff - making it look easy as ever! I can hardly feel the pins let alone what type they are. :)
Alot of pin action there my friend Happy picking and have a great day
Thank you. Interesting lock. I half expected passive pins as well.
Still better then master lock even at master locks best!!
do you actually take the time to put these back together??! this one would seem to take forever to do that
You have such a pleasant voice. If you read a book for me, I could listen for hours...
This is startling to look like a fun hobby...
I'm wondering if any of LPL's followers ever recognize him by his voice when he is out and about.
Never happened, as far as I know.
Nope, he's like a superhero. You can look him right in the face, listen to him talk, watch him pick a lock in front of you while arguing a court case; you'll think"wow! You could almost be the Lock Picking Lawyer. You know, if you weren't mortal."
I can't get over the phallic symbol in the pinning tray :O
Love the thumbnail is it a new camera
You should totally build a lock from reactive Armour and then try opening that up. Would be fun!
Please do more Turkish locks, we have so many different big locksmith brands here and they sometimes try to do different stuff.
How much more difficult would the lock be to pick if he hadn’t seen the key first? Now he knows what he is facing when he starts picking, but I guess it would be more difficult starting picking with no info on how the lock is designed.
Ive always wondered if youd be able to get the same pick angles if these locks were attached to the object that they’re locking.
Love your work.
Interesting. I had just been debating on picking a couple of these up a few weeks ago.
Besides the Bowley lock, are there any other door locks you have not been able to pick so far?
Thanks for the Turkish lock. Can you do a the Kale kilit lock video next time. Kale kilit is actualy the biggest lock maker company here. Weird thing about kale kilit is that it means castle lock in english which is a good name for a lock company but why is no one useing something like fortress or castle for their lock company
Can you do another turkish brand ? Especially "Kale"( which means fort btw.) I have been using that brand for years and one time i called a lockpicker they told me that series so hard to pick they wouldnt give service to me.
