Bujji and Bhairava is an animated TV mini-series released in 2024. It is a prelude to the movie Kalki 2898 AD, set in the future city of Kasi in the year 2896. The series follows the story of a bounty hunter named Bhairava and a cargo ship's AI pilot named BU-JZ1, who find each other and embark on a journey of adventure, partnership, and friendship.
Kalki 2898 AD is an upcoming 2024 Indian epic science fiction action film written and directed by Nag Ashwin. Produced by C. Aswani Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies, it stars Prabhas in the titular role alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani.
The film is set in a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2898 AD and is part of the Kalki Cinematic Universe. Inspired by Hindu scriptures, the story follows a modern-day avatar of Vishnu, a Hindu god, who is believed to have descended to earth to protect the world from evil forces.
Filming began in July 2021 at Ramoji Film City, Hyderabad and continued over the next three years before wrapping in March 2024. Made on a ₹600 crore (US$75 million) budget, Kalki 2898 AD is the most expensive Indian film ever produced.
The film was initially scheduled to release on 9 May 2024 but was postponed due to the 2024 Indian General Election. It is now set to release worldwide in theatres on 27 June 2024.
